Excellent lesson. Yep many times busy fills are not what the music calls for. Also if you are playing a lot set the more simple fills can give you some rest. Finally sometimes moving to a half time feel for the fills can work too. Keep up the great work. Bill.

My default is to start with a more complex groove fill like at 8:10 and then do a short fill. Actually trying to learn to stop doing that and do longer fills when needed.
