    I'm in California and knowledge of spots used to be shared around a campfire after a few shouts and shots. The movies did their damage along with magazines but nothing like the internet. I visited NSW and Queensland in 1979 for a couple of months. I drank Toohey's at the Top Pub and camped in the Suffolk caravan park. Warm clean water and fun waves. Cheap space fee especially divided by three. Property was dirt cheap,folks drove old cars and didn't rip up the road ways. It was off season being June-August. I doubt if I'd recognize much of anything now. Just another old man reminiscing. Thanks Oz for a fun time!!

    As a longtime Byron local...thanks for drawing even more attention to the Pass.

      Hopefully we can get it off the backpacker map.

    I am older now, body and mind not so good BUT I still remember days on SYDNEY'S beaches where I would wish for someone to enjoy the waves with me. What else would you expect an old dude to say? That word dude, I still laugh! 🤗

    You went to the pass to avoid the crowds? Makes me glad I'm on the south coast

      Fair point, but 50 people out on a point that long is nothing and easy to handle. I’d take a manageable crowd over 16 degree water any day.

      Hey inside, I live in the Shire and surf the Pass, that's why I'm on the South Coast for my annual surf, road trip. Cold water don't bother me when I'm wearing a 4/3 in uncrowded offshore surf. You live in God's country!!!

    Byron is ruined. I remember going over the border from Surfer's Paradise in the early 80's to see bands at the PIGGERY and drink Tooheys Old at the top pub. We'd sleep in our cars beach side and surf next morning with humungous hangovers. Not on in that town anymore. Maybe we'd getaway with sleeping in a BMW X5.

      It has changed a lot in 25 years. I remember doing the same and surfing with smaller crowds. However I can still manage to snag a few waves on the point. Besides the point there are heaps of amazing places to surf within 30 mins drive. Beautiful region to live!

    Looks a fun wave. I've only surfed the break around the corner which was fun. Would love to get a couple of waves there.

      Omg the wind was something else. Plan a trip up around a good swell and there are so many amazing point breaks to chose from within 200kms.

    Seb you are only adding to the problem of over crowded surf by further promoting surfing and specific locations.

    • @surfwithsebchadwick
      @surfwithsebchadwick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s simply entertainment for the lounge surfers and if it encourages someone to take up surfing and the lifestyle then great. There are hundreds of surfing videos of the pass and it was crowded 10 years ago and will continue to get more crowded as populations grow. I understand you wish people didn’t surf your home break but the pass is an amazing surf break and will always be like that, so as my videos say, get away from the crowds of your local break and find somewhere new.

      @@surfwithsebchadwick"It will get more crowded as populations grow"... "Find somewhere new" ....So basically you're saying that you don't care, you're going to name spots and add to the problem of overcrowding to promote your TH-cam channel and expect everyone else to move on if they want to enjoy surfing in even reasonable crowds? Why don't you just stop naming specific spots and promoting them? Its clear you've been surfing for a while, but it surprises me how someone who has done so has missed the very essence of it.... and instead opted to become a cringey middle-aged, vain, wannabe influencer.
