Sailboat hull cleaning

- We used the new diy hookah rig to clean the bottom of our new Catalina 25 sailboat. this sailboat hasn't been cleaned in 10 years or better. so the zebra muscles were a few inches thick. Not to worry though the local sun perch were kind enough to devour anything I scraped off.
Items used:
5 in 1 stainless scraper
Changing Lifestyles - Safe-er-Grip Traveler Balance Assistant Bar suction cup ( these are all plastic no rust)
Star brite scrub handle and pads (used the red pad medium grit)
Dive mask
Scotch bright pad and sponge combo
lycra hood ( it keeps the small organisms out of you ears )
Heavy dive gloves or work gloves ( keeps your hands from being cut up )

How long it passed to get that amount of barnacles?
Hi There...I was wondering if you were worried about scraping the paint off the bottom of the hull as you're removing the barnacles
The boat bottom was done over 10 years ago by the previous owner and the zebra muscles had grown into the paint. When I get home the boat will get a bottom job.
That's not really an issue with cleaning bottoms if you use the right tools. For the job I'd reccomend a spatula like scraper instead of the 5 in 1 he used and for lesser growth I'd use a joint knife as its flexible and avoid scratching off paint. Then for the algae I tend to use a red brush for easier jobs but for this one I'd use a black grill scrubber. If the paint is good it shouldn't ever get this bad.
