If he was fully bought in on Tesla in his ETF, which currently holds zero Tesla , he would be talking way more positively. The bottom is in and he missed it.

No. iPhones are one of the best smart phones out there. Teslas are not one of the best EV cars out there. Even FSD technology isn’t the best of the self driving technology yet because it is far from being perfect. If Tesla keeps producing bad quality cars it will never be marketed like Apple products.

EVERYONE will want a ROBOT!
Can you live without your smartphone? Probably not. Robots will follow suit in the next decade.
Everyone will be able to buy a robot when it becomes cheap enough, and they will.
We will likely have renting, leasing, and financing options.
There are more people who don't own a robot compared to the number of people who don't own a car. So the market and expansion possibilities are MUCH bigger.

I don’t have the answer to it:
If we are considering robotaxi for picking up kids at school or basic taxi, are we sure that robotaxi would have less incident instances than a human?
I mean, if we have kids in the car or we operate as taxi we obviously pay way more attention to our driving and “road rage”…people that drive crazy and increase the number of incidents and accidents statistics don’t feel to drive safe in autonomous driving anyway?
I personally think I would feel more comfortable taking the responsibility of driving myself the kids from school than sending a self driving car…personally!!

I think Tesla have always been clear that Batteries are a tapered integration. I think your assumptions are wrong here and I think Musks thinking is crystal clear and consistent. Likewise, Lithium refining. A company should focus on differentiation and rate of return ie Software.
The Bot argument is not a financial one it's an ethical one. This was clearly stated. You and others are keen to sideline Elon for another CEO. What Musk is saying is that he does not and will not support an Optimus Product with free scope to develop in nefarious markets. That is SOOOOOOOOO clear in all he has said from the Optimus get go. Yet many inc possibly you, imply this is strong arming on the share ownership issue. Well here is the thing, we all have to be vigilant as shareholders but his stated rationale IS clear and IS coherent and is not Tinfoil hat. Your friend Ross is explicit on this. He wants Musk out. There are state sponsored actors that want that too. So I'm saying....No thanks, no to Optimus in. Ross 'orientated' business without strict control of development. I'm delighted to sign on to and vote for that. I don't want to invest in enabling a Robocop / Terminator!! . I don't want that legacy!!

The ambiguity on the compact car was introduced by Reuters. I see no support of that although I do see chages in emphasis ie a re-focus on getting to 3m production from current facilities at the expense of accessing FULL cost benefits of the full new process in a new factory as quickly as previously intended. That sounds like cashflow management adapting to lower demand. What was clear was PLURAL CARs. Lets see in August. It IS feasible that that delay in new factories takes us across the rubicon to Robotaxi.... And that would explain the reprioritising of the Compact project in favour of Robotaxi on the new platform at new facilities. Hence possibly YES to low cost car (earlier) but perhaps deprioritised at new facilities in favour of Robotaxi.
Elon isnt going to say optimus is guaranteed while his comp package is up for the re vote. Its his leverage. They also spoke about stock buy backs to increase his share.

you're so astute Kevin! Good point on Elon hedging his commitment to Tesla not all the way through Optimus if can't have voting control. I thought there was more negative stuff alluded to, which is going overlooked in everyone's euphoria about a new car launch early next year.
I think he was hedging. But it's about control of a potentially nefarious Bot development. There are many that would oust him. What he's saying is that he does not want to be associated with a nefarious Bot. For that reason he wants control. You could conclude that as a lie. But that is what he said!! He has been clear from the get go on the required guardrails for Optimus. Thus his concerns have not come full blown from a void, have they?? Yes vigilance is good.... But this is suspicion. I think that's pushing vigilance too far in light of previous guidelines set.
4680 is old news. Anybody following Tesla and the lack of real advance in EV vehicles (look at the cyber truck specs and Tesla Semi still in beta). That's probably the main reason why they go to AI because Tesla doesn't believe in big improvements in battery technology.

Nope. I think AI has developed to the point that he is confident to go ball out. Ball out is good if it's based on fact. FSD 12.3 is clearly changing the autonomy game. The end to end shift has definitely been vindicated. That's undeniable in the performance. If you can't see then you should probably disinvest your Tesla holding. You are in the wrong share.

Elon just getting ahead on future negative sentiments on Dojo or 4680. Problem with Dojo is the rapid rise of AI compute products from AMD and Intel, which makes Dojo more expensive. The 4680 is worse, while it is true that is better than 18650/2170 cells in terms of cost vs capacity, the 4680 sacrifices performance.. And to make up for it, 4680 cells has to be in huge numbers like in the 122kwh battery pack of the cybertruck. For lower cost EVs, LFP battery just wins in all but one but one metric.

As far as I know the 4680 was obsolete before it was put into production. I couldnt believe the hype at the time over a battery cell. The revolutionary thing about the cell was that it was tabless so easier and cheaper to manufacture once the process was sorted. The form factor being 16% more energy dense was all bullshit in the end as Tesla/Panasonic 2170 and LG Chem 2170 used in long range Y are more energy dense than the 4680. The fact that the pack may be structural means the possibility of the a better energy density at the pack level but I'm not sure thats the case. 4680 contains more cobolt than any EV battery on the market pretty much. Teslas only hope with the 4680 is to switch to silicon anode and do away with all the cobolt.
It was destined to fail being a cobolt battery at a time when the world frowns upon cobolt mining and Tesla was even in the process of switching the majority of their cells to LFP which has proven to be a far superior product. Batteries are Batteries people, they all do the same thing and yes LFP are heavier but last three times longer.
If you want to talk about leaders in battery technology, its BYD. Tesla has the edge in the vehicles overall, the software/hardware and Full Self Driving technology which is far more revolutionary than any battery. Batteries have one job and thats to supply voltage

Negitive earnings almost across the board and more smoke and mirrors from Elon.
They just changed their whole strategy just to stop the stock from bleeding and cover up a terrible earnings call. So shortsighted and disappointing.
The strategy is untouched. They have adapted roll out of new facilities as a cashflow hedge whilst squeezing the lemon to get more and cheaper production from existing facilities. Read master plan (strategy) nothing in this call changed that strategy.
