Well, the reason it is called the Sadness is because all of the infected people are still themselves, they just cannot control their most evil and perverse urges anymore. That is why you can sometimes see infected people crying while committing these horrible acts. Because they are still aware of what they are doing and cannot stop themselves. It is like being a prisoner inside of your own body, which makes this worse than any zombie plague. Also this movie was inspired by a long running comic book series called Crossed, which was probably inspired by the classic Romero film, The Crazies.

When I woke up the next morning I had to make sure I hadn't dreamed it because I couldn't believe that a few of the things I saw were in a big-budget, internationally distributed movie. You are still yourself in the end. So therefore an average woman wouldn't even have a thought of raping someone. The concept is really scary how it show's what humans really are without any kind of filter deep down. But if you look at history and what disgusting things humans have done throughout time it makes sense. We all have it in us whether you want to admit it or not.
