2:43 What about Dogma? The only time he thought for himself was when he killed Krell... even then, Legends had a loophole as the Clones knew about all 150 Contingency Orders (Order 66 included).
Yes, they "knew" about it and the other 149, but it wasn't a conscious piece of knowledge as I remember. It wasn't something they would say, "Hey Ralph, Jedi Sam was a dick with that last 'plan' of his, let's execute Order 66 on his ass!" (obvious exaggeration, but you get my meaning).
@@Slayer398 yeah but it would have still come to mind unconsciously in that situation in Legends as - unlike when Palpatine executed Order 66 - Krell had clearly presented himself as a traitor.
I long ago theorized the Inhibitor Chips weren't just straight-up mind control, there is some mind control aspect, what with the whole mantra good soldiers follow orders being repeated, but it's more a suppression of certain behaviors/memories and an amplification of others. There are many good Clones out there that would never execute the order, while there are some that fall in-between they may execute it they may not, but they'll at least think about it and hesitate for a bit before coming to the decision, and lastly there are Clones that would execute Order 66 without question either because they have nothing but negative experiences with Jedi or because their pieces of Sith like Faie and Fox who have no postive traits what so ever for the chips to supprese and only have negative ones. For the former two categories, the chips would suppress all the good and amplify all the bad, one of those bad being every Clones innate desire to follow orders, and in the case of any Clone that fought on Umbara the only memory of a Jedi they would be allowed to keep is of Krell, and if your Jedi was Krell no one would blame you for shooting him.
Can you imagine if he was still alive during Order 66? The Clones would have made Order 66 an art form. I'd be surprised if they didn't all start creepily laughing as they raised their blasters. Hatred for someone like Krell combined with Order 66 would turn anyone into a bloodthirsty psychopath.
Honestly the Scariest part was Wrecker saying he tried to stop himself. Because before it was like yeah ok the clones mind goes blank they become nothing more than droids but now actually being trapped in your own head whileore or less another you takes over holy shit that's scary.
The way I interpret it is the inhibitor chips do exactly what they are named after - they inhibit. Everyone has inhibitions, the ability to say no to themselves, what the inhibitor chips do is they inhibit the clones’ ability to think independently like Jambi Fett did. The inhibitor chips were always on to a degree, and clones almost always did as they were told and followed their orders - but for a huge order like Order 66, the inhibitor chips were further triggered to be even more powerful than before. The small inhibiting of free thought is ramped up to a near total inhibition of free thought. The inhibited clones are not mindless, they are just more subservient.
Dude Wrecker went Terminater on Tech. What a fantastic episode.. I love Omega and especially Wreckers friendship. You know she his best pal. It was cool she able to see Rex was a 1st gen. Clone!! Love your content
Did anyone else think of that scene with wrecker and omega eating the snack in the beginning, where wrecker went "uh, put it on syd's tab" kind of like a family guy cutaway?
Imagine being trapped in your own body, fully aware of what you're doing but unable to stop yourself from doing it. That's what the inhibitor chips do to Clones.
One thing that concerns me about Crosshair is if he can even be redeemed. Because to me it doesn't look like the inhibitor chip changed his personality much. Even though he shows a bit of regret in that one episode.
This reminds me of how the Clones reacted to Order 66 in Legends. Some followed it without question, but some rebelled or deemed it a Separatist plot and false order. Some Commando teams and even ARC Troopers didn’t follow Order 66 when it came down. Disney and Lucasfilm doesn’t take reference to the EU when creating their new canon stories? Yeah right.
It just.... Would not make any sense, after that 12th episode of 7th season of clone wars. So Rex couldn't fight it? Okay, maybe it's legit If someone had head trauma, but not many clones could have had one.
I imagine the chips are like condoms, they’re designed to work but sometimes they don’t and you end up watching Star Wars videos on your phone with your headphones on so you don’t wake up your clones. I mean children..
Cloning of sentient beings in the galaxy was an accepted practice, although costs and quantities varied greatly. When you go to the great risk of having a million clones with tremendous capabilities made in secret for you, you should ask to see what the statistics look like. What was the normal distribution of variability? What degree of confidence should be expected? And insist on your own independent testing to verify the results. "Trust but verify", especially when dealing with beings even less trustworthy than you were for a product far more expensive and complex than just ideal moisture-farmers. The technology of inhibitor chips was probably common, but almost never one expected to turn behavior 180 degrees in under a second. Did they have a sample that could safely demonstrate this with some neutral activity that would satisfy the most skeptical buyer of the biggest, most secret clone operation in history? Especially when one of the main specifications was to generate far more loyalty to a leader who treated them decently, above and beyond what to expect from a draftee? "I've obeyed this Jedi willingly for years, because he represents everything I could reasonably expect in any being. This urge to kill him because something inside of me says he's a traitor, and my enemy, absolutely contradicts everything I've experienced. If my comrades are my brothers, he's EARNED the trust as my older brother."
It seems that high stress situations (such as being in a battle or getting pulled underwater in order to become a tentacled beast's lunch) assisted the chips in increasing obedience by creating the best neurological state for such a thing to happen.
Idk why but when Wrecker was fighting the rest of the Bad Batch and Rex, It gave me a Thanos vibe. Literally looks like the avengers vs thanos. Just the way they struggle to fight him.
Sure, let's take *any* credit away from Wrecker and his strength of will to resist the chip, but we can say it was malfunctioning now and that's what spared her.
@@Slayer398 no, it’s just the logical conclusion. And I’m not looking for an argument, but let’s face it, Wrecker isn’t the sharpest knife in the draw. I’m not sure if he has enough willpower to resist the chip like that.
@@LysimedVenteel It has zero to do with Wrecker being the "sharpest knife in the drawer" or not and I'm not dismissing the chip malfunctioning. But him resisting the chip is a strength of will that only requires seconds and we've seen the exact. same. thing. Before. So it's not unheard of or impossible or is this because Wrecker isn't that bright?
I like how the chips were still working. I thought the reason for the chips not working on the BB made no sense. I’m happy the writers didn’t stick with it.
I would say that a fair bit of compartmentalization kicked in; Once they had done these horrible things, or even realized that they were going to do them, they then started thinking of themselves as the sort of people who would do horrible things, and it became a loop. Also, I have to believe that one advantage, however small, comes from knowing you have something to resist. Knowledge of the chip's existence means you can, briefly, turn its directives back. To quote another elite military squadron from another genre, knowing is half the battle, or at least enough of it to buy you a few seconds.
4:05 I'm unsure if this video was made after the finale, but even cross hairs wasn't working entirely. Cross hair followed orders not because he had to, but because that was his genuine philosophy.
The chips are cool makes me wonder if some jedi found out about it early enough got the chips out wonder how many clones would have followed order 66 ? On the other I still miss the EU order 66 version do to fact we got better stories on how clones received and acted on the orders just like in real life how soldiers would carry out there orders makes you wonder if American soldiers got a similar order in reality how many would fellow an order like 66.
After watching your review I am wondering if Wrecker remembered everything because he is defective and it doesn't work that way for the regs. It was indeed a great episode.
Newer clones were easily respondent to the chips and didn’t grow to be independent and the ones that were just flat out obedient. The bad batch were a prototype altered clone units and those that were independent put up more of a fight.
i found the episode very very very depressing and sad. Before i thought the clones just "loose concouisenes" and the auto-pilot for how to behave is actived by the chip . But Wrecker saying he tried to resist was like damn, he was himself to 100% his body just phisicly moved without his controll and sure Cpt Rex still was shaky and could talk, but i thought that was diffrent because he had such a strong will he still was in the driver seat and didnt let the chip kill his counciousnes, but when a clone has "given up" once its like "his sould is dead" and he wouldnt be able to get back to being normal. with this i ask my self how the other clones must have felt when they had to execute order 66 on Asoka and Cpt Rex.
anyone else get the suspicion that the point of omega is an attempt to clone force-sensitivity? like she displays a lot of those moments of super intuition that line up with like, force insight and stuff
They are trapped behind a window of no self control some follow some don’t understand why wreaker had no control he was basically watching his Body move on it’s own scary thought
The way I see it is that the chips forced the clones to follow order 66. Yea they are the same men personality but the chips prevented the clones from making a decision. That is the tragedy of the clones. Even if they didn't want to execute the order the chip inhibited their ability to choose. Like they were aware of what they were doing but had no choice they could try to resist but ultimately it came down only to hesitation to pull the trigger. Crosshair was half active so that's why he didn't immediately attack his squad for disobeying orders. Wolf had lasting effects from the chip during rebels it made him paranoid of Jedi at first and his chip was out. My basis is that Wrecker admitted that he could not stop even though he was fully aware. He obviously did not want to follow the order but the head damage activated it anyway so he attacked everyone for disobeying orders if it was his choice he wouldn't have done so. I think about Ahsoka's clones they loved her so much they painted her markings on their helmets and then were forced to try and kill her.
I think an important detail is that Wrecker and Crosshair seem to be more susceptible to the Inhibitor Chip because of their personalities, or programming. Tech drew a link between it in an earlier episode (indirectly). The closer a clone's individual programming is to the behaviour a clone exhibits during Order 66, the easier they succumb. Crosshair was programmed to be far more lethal and apathetic to death than other clones. So despite still resisting to some degree (maintaining far more personality than most clones after the chip activated), he still followed the order. Wrecker follows the exact same pattern, only his programming is for destruction, not necessarily killing. But given he is by nature very violent, like Crosshair he was more susceptible. It's interesting to think how long it would have taken for the others to turn, if they did at all. Wrecker demonstrated that the chip didn't just try to turn on and if it didn't Order 66 was a bust. It keeps trying to turn on from the moment the clone heard the order until the chip is removed or the clone is killed. I feel like Hunter would have been the next one to go, followed by Tech. Hunter's tracking programming would have eventually coincided with the urge to track Jedi. Tech I feel would have either been completely immune or taken way, way longer than the rest. Echo would be completely immune I think. Clearly so much was changed or damaged within his brain during his time as a Separatist lab rat that the chip is either completely dead or has no way to access his brain. However, I expect if the Empire got their hands on him and cared enough to try, they might be able to take away his immunity, making him as susceptible as a regular clone.
When it came to the order I believed that they didn't only do the stuff that was said in the video but I believed that the orders also twinkled with the Clones memories like giving them false memories to justify killing their generals.
You can hear Tech in the background discussing the location of the chip... "Below the intersection of the parietal and temporal regions" of the brain. I'm sure that may mean something.
Glad I watched this video.. I kinda felt the bad batch was very inconsistent with the way it handled inhibitor chips but this explains why super well and makes t very easy to understand and justify
To be short the clone themselves become a passenger in their own body once the chip activated, they’re fully aware of everything but they can’t control their body
I like the legends version much more... just obedient clones executing one of the contingency orders printed into their memories with the rest of the flash training
I liked the episode but for some reason felt predictable, matches the story though. Don't know how i felt about rex quite yet did love his appearance and he is pretty shaken about 66.
I like the short that was made where it showed the clones memories being altered that painted their jedi as uncaring and used them like sacrificial pawns. I'm sure yall know which video I'm talking about. It was sad.
Just peeped that if Rex wasn’t promoted to commander than he wouldn’t have been the one to answer the call and someone else would come and attempt to execute them both.
@@geetslys yoooooo. Seriously. Lol. They were used send thrown away, all the while having their feelings disregarded. I wonder if there was another instance in the SW universe where that happened on such a scale as this.
"At the end of the day, the clones who killed their Jedi generals, were the same men before the chips went off." Think on that when you study things like genocide.
My fan made clone trooper Vic fell in love with Jay Ricco his Jedi general and married her, which is why he hesitated during order 66 plus his inhibitor chip was damaged
2:07 Jango being "anti-social and independent" had everything to do with his upbringing and bounty hunter lifestyle and nothing to do with genetics. Our DNA does not dictate our abilities to trust. If a child is abused then they will grow up having trust issues. That same child growing up in a loving home wont have a learned reluctance to trust people.
That old saying The Devil made me do it nope you the person are still in control of your actions the inhibitor chips gives the impulse but the carrying out of the action is still on the clones.
It's really not. If your body is physically out of your control, then you can't really do much about it. Wrecker was a defective clone, with incredible independence, and he still couldn't fully resist the chip's effects. What chance did a normal clone that had no such level of independence have?
technically "Execute Order Sixty-Six" is four words, though I don't know how hyphens effect word count exactly so I will admit to the possibility of being incorrect.
What if all Clones were completely conscious but unable to control themselves during it. Even the ones that died. Imagine Gree wanting to warn Yoda then dying because the chip wouldnt let him.
One thing that makes me a little envious of fans of the Original and Sequel Trilogy is that they get soldiers that they know are squeaky clean. Granted Rebel and Resistance soldiers have some moral grayness since some have criminal records like Jango and Boba Fett. Still, at least they know that their soldiers are fighting for a pure cause and against an enemy which is totally evil. Meanwhile even if one says that clone troopers were brainwashed by the chips, they still installed the Galactic Empire even if it was against their will. They are also the only soldiers to technically lose their war to the bad guys since the Empire goes on to betray them in canon. And unlike the Empire and First Order, it’s hard to treat the CIS as evil even if they can be determined on a moral scale to be between the light side factions and the dark side factions. Even with the Separatist Council, it’s hard to criticize the CIS since the council provided the necessary military and economy the CIS needed. It seems hard to point out the flaws of rouges if the reason they are who they are is because of a higher power. People compare the CIS to the Rebel Alliance because of how the Galactic Republic could be called a nicer version of the Galactic Empire. Now granted there is good reason for this comparison to be legitimate, but it kind of irks me that prequel fans like me have to deal with morality issues with our characters while the fans of the other two eras can cheer their armies without can’t moral ambiguity. It is a small comfort that anyone who becomes a fan of the CIS is left in the same spot as Republic fans given the fact they take capitalism to its horrific extreme. That is one of the few things Republic fans can rightly condemn the CIS on.
Rex was also likely more freethinking given that he's a Gen 1 clone. The Kaminoens refined the clones and likely the inhibitor chip as well.

I was so bummed echo didnt ask rex about fives🥲

YES.
@anya aliffa we don’t know that.

Also Bacara: Charge and beat the droids in hand to hand combat!!!
If weapons don't work, gotta do something.
When Wrecker turned it reminded me of when Anakin fell to the dark side in the Mortis arc because of how quickly they both switched sides
Imagine being trapped in your own body, fully aware of what you're doing but unable to stop yourself from doing it. That's what the inhibitor chips do to Clones.
It’s kinda like a dream. You could control what you say and make small decisions, but you can’t affect bigger choices, like shooting a Jedi.

@@ko71k52 it depends on the Clone’s personality and how well the Clone in question could fight off the chip’s influence.
I imagine the chips are like condoms, they’re designed to work but sometimes they don’t and you end up watching Star Wars videos on your phone with your headphones on so you don’t wake up your clones. I mean children..
Literally just finished watching this episode...
Same

Perfect timing!
It would be cool to see Echo in 501st styled armor, and maybe a paint decal of the citadel as a throwback
This episode makes me like Wrecker even more. The bond with Omega really is a brother/sister relationship. Love this series.
“Good Soldiers follow orders, Good Soldiers follow orders, Good Soldiers follow orders.”
Was it an order to spend those credits on Mantell Mix and be placed on debt with Cid?

Idk why but when Wrecker was fighting the rest of the Bad Batch and Rex, It gave me a Thanos vibe. Literally looks like the avengers vs thanos. Just the way they struggle to fight him.
It was one of the best episodes.
I think Wrecker’s chip is like Crosshair’s was, not functioning at peak efficiency. That’s why he couldn’t kill Omega.
Good soldiers follow orders
4:05 I'm unsure if this video was made after the finale, but even cross hairs wasn't working entirely.
Cross hair followed orders not because he had to, but because that was his genuine philosophy.
I always figured that Rex resisted Order 66 because of what Fives told him and his last times with Fives. No other clone would've had that reaction.
let's all admit , we all got scared when the music dropped , and Wreaker's eyes opened
scared but also hype
Im always down to see wrecker go full juggernaut, even when its evil mode
*"Hello There my good friends! Happy weekend!"*
*Good friends say happy weekend*

The chips are cool makes me wonder if some jedi found out about it early enough got the chips out wonder how many clones would have followed order 66 ? On the other I still miss the EU order 66 version do to fact we got better stories on how clones received and acted on the orders just like in real life how soldiers would carry out there orders makes you wonder if American soldiers got a similar order in reality how many would fellow an order like 66.
After watching your review I am wondering if Wrecker remembered everything because he is defective and it doesn't work that way for the regs.
It was indeed a great episode.
Wrecker has a heart of gold and a head of bone

"They fly now?"
But Wrecker saying he tried to resist was like damn, he was himself to 100% his body just phisicly moved without his controll
and sure Cpt Rex still was shaky and could talk, but i thought that was diffrent because he had such a strong will he still was in the driver seat and didnt let the chip kill his counciousnes, but when a clone has "given up" once its like "his sould is dead" and he wouldnt be able to get back to being normal.
with this i ask my self how the other clones must have felt when they had to execute order 66 on Asoka and Cpt Rex.
anyone else get the suspicion that the point of omega is an attempt to clone force-sensitivity?
like she displays a lot of those moments of super intuition that line up with like, force insight and stuff
Dude the episode literally dropped this week and now I know what will happen because of the thumbnail. Thanks for ruining my weekend.
I think about Ahsoka's clones they loved her so much they painted her markings on their helmets and then were forced to try and kill her.
good soldiers obey orders, great soldiers know when to disobey orders
This just makes the ending to clone wars more depressing.
Jessey choosing to let rex live instead of executing him
He tried I'm sure... but he couldn't
@@user-dx8nl9qm9d we know form wrecker that defiance is punishable by execution buy Jessy chose not to do that so he definitely was still in thare
I think the affect of order 66 is like simbiyote controlling their host’s bodies.
I honestly kind of wanted the inhibitor chips to continue to be a looming threat for the rest of the series.
I reckon that Rex became more individual due to his association with Anakin and Ahsoka. This is an example of nurture over nature.
Crosshairs can be redeemed cured and brought back to the team
Wrecker give me the Terminator vibe
Did anybody else get that vibe or was it just me?
To be short the clone themselves become a passenger in their own body once the chip activated, they’re fully aware of everything but they can’t control their body
Not necessarily
I like the legends version much more... just obedient clones executing one of the contingency orders printed into their memories with the rest of the flash training
I disagree emotionally because I like the clones too much, though I do agree objectively that the legends version sounds a little more compelling
I liked the episode but for some reason felt predictable, matches the story though. Don't know how i felt about rex quite yet did love his appearance and he is pretty shaken about 66.
I confused your name and logo for Gravitas, the news station. It was very confusing
This only makes the clone story that much more tragic... Damn
Clones really got the short end of the stick.
@@geetslys yoooooo. Seriously. Lol. They were used send thrown away, all the while having their feelings disregarded. I wonder if there was another instance in the SW universe where that happened on such a scale as this.

I just want to say, Wrecker. Is. Terrifying.
I really hope they do the battle of Kamino
My fan made clone trooper Vic fell in love with Jay Ricco his Jedi general and married her, which is why he hesitated during order 66 plus his inhibitor chip was damaged
Since the bad batch removed their chips, I hope they can eventually remove Crosshair’s chip
They litterally explained it in the show.
Dont dismiss genetics only because it doesnt account for 100% of behaviour
How come the bad batch didn't Savage for parts when they were on that planet
They were there for a purpose, not just to be scavs.
Would probably also alert the guild, which they didn't want to intentionally do.
😮interesting
Also is wrecker ok? 😕I honestly want to know spoilers aside
Wrecker is okay and even apologize to omega.
Good Soldiers Follow Orders.
Makes me wonder too if the chip would've worked on Slick...
technically "Execute Order Sixty-Six" is four words, though I don't know how hyphens effect word count exactly so I will admit to the possibility of being incorrect.
What if all Clones were completely conscious but unable to control themselves during it. Even the ones that died. Imagine Gree wanting to warn Yoda then dying because the chip wouldnt let him.
I don’t think you can cite Legands material for Cannon sources. Mind you I like your justification much better than the 100 percent brainwashing thing
Sheev-execute order 66
Fey-bout time
Please dont use spoilers in the thumbnail. not everyone has time to See the episode the day it airs
clones werent identical so obviouly it makes sense
So what's the explanation for Cutter?
