Even though the venue was "very bad" shout outs to that venue regardless, best time of my life in the past 2 years. I didn't even reach that far in bracket but I rode that high for weeks.
Sometimes, all you need to make great memories is a room, some chairs, some tables, and some outlets. Yeah, the venue could technically have been a lot better, but the people are by far the most important part.
Riptide cancelling P+ was a heartbreaker because most of the homies I was going to travel with couldn't come, so I went alone. I'm so thankfuly for meleesadposts and everyone who made Undertow happen. Thankful for all memories and moments of joy I was able to have with some amazing friends I only would have made because our love for the game (23:03)

I love that chant, at the end. I'm just being honest and with all the crap that they pulled, back in 2020 and even in 2021, there's a reason why I'm glad I don't support Nintendo anymore. Crap like this is just something that I'll never understand about Nintendo. Attacking fans for wanting to show respect and love for what made Smash so awesome helps Nintendo out...how? They don't make money off of Brawl or Melee since they don't officially sell either game anymore and the folks who make these mods are not only doing it for fun, but are also fans of Smash that bought the latest official game in the series by Nintendo AND are making these mods for FREE for everyone to enjoy. They're not telling folks to not play Ultimate and play their Brawl mods instead or even going out of their way to advertise their mods, so more folks will know about them and choose to play them instead of Nintendo's official offerings. What gets me the most about all this are the idiotic Nintentards, out there that not only support Nintendo when they attack fans (especially Smash modders), but for some reason consider it a "win" when they do it and yet they have the right to call themselves a fan of Smash? I just don't get how they can look at something like Project M, Project Plus, Smash Bros. Legacy, etc. and say that "they're bad" or "they're evil" because they're not official.
It's Nintendo of course they are the most democratic video game company ever. They want people to play their games THIER way. I know the fact they will never change. Which is why I don't play smash anymore
I mean they could make money by releasing brawl on virtual console for full price and making P+ event only playable on switch so people would have to pay for the game. That would be a dick move but people would still be happy.
I've just recently got into P+ after years of Smash4 and Ultimate. P+ is the best (or most fun at least) smash game there is for competitive. I really hope it will get a resurgence and the recognition it deserves.
It's truly astonishing that your sub count is so low and the fact it's around my number of subs is just an embarrassment. As long as I’m focused on improving as much as I can, the rest of the pieces will fall into place. Thank you again though!
Amazing video. Love the amount of interviews and commentary from people in the scene. Feels like the whole story when it's coming straight from the people who lived it.
I think Brawl + had a big impact before Pm came about. I remember playing so much Brawl + and how much better the game felt over Vanilla Brawl. PM obviously did it better but I think Brawl + was a big stepping stone.
It was. I played often with someone that was a part of the B+ development team before. He eventually left, B+ transitioned into PM, then I applied to PMBR (now known as PMDT) myself and got in. The amount of blood and sweat the team went through was astonishing. B+ was fun but got boring quick for me. I'm really happy to see the development that went on with P+.
When i moved to Australia in 2013 I went to a local and it was mainly PM, then Melee started blowing up again and the scene kinda shifted back to melee. But PM was huge for a hot minute
Outstanding video explaining P+'s history. I had never heard of P+ before watching this video, but I am now a fan of what they have accomplished. I really liked the interviews and hope to see more content like this. Keep up the great work.
How unfortunate. My car got more screentime than I did. Great video, had to remind myself this was just a month and change after Riptide/Undertow, and here we are, doing Undertow II.
I love that Nintendo tried to cripple brawls competitive scene by adding tripping so the community took it back by overhauling the whole thing. 15 years past the games original release it's going stronger than ever.
I started with Project M cause I couldn’t get Melee for a while but I had brawl. Have alot of good memories playing with friends. I downloaded the project plus version of Dolphin but I haven’t figured out how to find a match.
If it helps any, it's a Japanese developer things. As a fan of gaming in general, Japan and it's corporations are very VERY totalitarian about their IPs, want a similar situation? Look at what happened to totallynotmark with toei. Japan is stuck in the shogun era mentally.
Beautiful video man, a big hug, claps and a big excellent work dude. Let's keep up the p+/pm content up to not let it shadow by melee and Ultamate content creators.
Yeah that’s absolutely fair, I definitely regret not being able to find a way to incorporate Legacy TE’s importance in the vid. Unfortunately it wasn’t mentioned or bought up by anyone I had interviewed, and I wasn’t aware of Legacy TE’s relative significance until after most of the recording/editing was finished. I wasn’t sure how/when to bring it up in the video apart from showing the part of the P+ trailer that mentioned Legacy TE. It was pretty tough to find any further information about P+‘s development, let alone other PM builds; regardless though it definitely deserved more of a mention than a quick 3-4 second snippet. My apologies.
@@dcsmesh appreciate that! Apology accepted. I think this is a broader problem with the PM community and TE itself. There's a pretty big disconnect between the modding and tournament scenes, which is really interesting to me. Also I think TE's 3.6 philosophy is ironically the same exact thing that held it back. Not because there wasn't a need for it, or it wasn't a good idea, but it's a harder sell. PM fans loved updates and change, and still want it, and probably won't ever stop wanting it. So "PM unchanged gameplay and QoL and extra content" didn't resonate the way it would have for a different game. But I do wish it was recognized more as helping sustain the PM scene after dev stopped, and representing the incredible progress of Brawl modding throughout.
I love your TE. It’s so funny because I was working single-handedly on my own TE and whenever you announced yours it was a million times better. I definitely ended up building off yours and dropping my own to help my local scene. Thanks for the awesome build!
People gonna be playing minecraft bros ultimate when they realize how crazy Steve is. But yea I would love to get into p+ but I can't go to any locals... plus I suck lol. If it had good rollback, or easy matchmaking I would love to look into it a little more
Love P+, my local scene started it recently along side ultimate. And most of the scene likes it just as much, if not more than ultimate. Me and my red bowser will be there as long as we run it.
Honestly, for some reason I can never get away from smash, no matter which game I’m playing. Right now I mostly just play melee and P+ online. I hope I can one day be at a tournament and play P+.
I hope someday a fund can be raised to fight Nintendo in court on this. I believe the community has an 80+ percent chance of winning that battle and setting an eternal precedent for future tournaments such that Nintendo cannot go after such events under certain guidelines. It’s just a matter of money I guess, a lot of money, but hopefully not too much.
this will never be possible unfortunately not only would it take possibly hundreds of millions of dollars (millions at minimum) to even stand a chance of a case even going to court but it would require lawyers somehow superior to the lawyers hired by nintendo to defend themselves as much as i would love for this to happen the smash community will never be coordinated enough to actually beat nintendo in court
Dang bruh, on Dec 1, the day I turned 7 years old, pm stopped, I never knew, I just recently got into modding now that I'm at the age that I'm smart enough to do so
I'm living in Japan now as a working professional. Unfortunately, anything the players or anyone else say, they will give 0% of a shit. Japanese companies are very characteristically like this and will not go on with the times. Case in point, they still use fax machines here. In 2022. They're also very petty if you think you know better than them. Fans balancing their game is a huge slap to their company ego/image.
24:04 are we not going to talk about smash remix and beyond melee?? a major for beyond melee is absolutely insane, there is only like 20 people that care about it. that was absolutely the biggest opportunity the mod has ever had afaik. also smash 64 community is small enough. thats gotta hurt
Honestly I personally don't care for competitive smash also I liked that brawl was more slow pace in it's gameplay but every now and again I want to see what brawl would be like fast paced.
So this begs the questions: why hasn't P+ gone all in to finish things the incomplete things? I'm thinking Lyn, 64 mode, and all the other stuff we had files for. Is it just creative differences of the team? Fear of incurring the wrath? Perhaps some weird legal thing since they don't own PM's original content?
For Lyn, they actually tried, but just couldn't find a way to make her viable, they also stated that no characters other than Knuckles would be added to p+ in the FAQ
So... uh... lemme 'wonder' one thing. *What If stuffs like melee fox and wavedash never got discovered before? Or got changed / replaced in 'one more' latest balance update of melee?* Also keyword in *lemme wonder*
Banger after banger after banger. Great vid again. Love how you got to interview so many big P+ players, makes the video very unique. Keep up the grind and btw fuck Nintendo
P+ is definitely valid, but imo it doesn't carry the spirit of PM because of weird changes like Kirby dspecg. That should be an fdtilt like Squirtle's. It feels like a change for the sake of change. I look forward to seeing more P+ content, but I'm also gonna stick with PM and LXP for the most part.
Nintendo is really missing out on a lot of potential, and the P+ community isn't even asking for anything from Nintendo. They just want to play a modified game that is no longer produced and spread the love of it. I highly doubt they lost any relevant number of sales due to P+'s existence.
Project+ is the second best smash game out there. If Nintendo doesnt have the skill to do a good game they should support the people that can. Horrible Company
If P+ had rollback I think it would be much larger. I love P+ but without rollback its hard to play. The other thing P+ needs is a super major TO to stand up to nintendo if I am understanding the laws coirrectly. Nintendo doesn't have any legal ground in these shutdowns. At least anything that I can see but i am not an attorney. If the tournament is held using all legal copies of brawl and is documented heavily, we go to court. If we get a competent judge there is basically no chance nintendo wins because we aren't doing anything illegal. The only way I could see this going bad is if nintendo argues P+ is a different game from brawl using brawl assets. But I am pretty sure under that case its fair use because P+ is transformative. Maybe a copyright attorney could explain this better but from my basic understanding nintendo cant win. If we win this sets legal precedent and we stop the shutdowns.
It’s crazy how Nintendo takes down games and projects like this but there’s games that copy their games and don’t shut them down. Hopefully Nintendo will stop this nonsense probably not

If we win this sets legal precedent and we stop the shutdowns.

love that CT representation 💕
It’s crazy how Nintendo takes down games and projects like this but there’s games that copy their games and don’t shut them down.
Hopefully Nintendo will stop this nonsense probably not
Great video dude! Nintendo needs to get its head out of his ass.
@@M64bros it's still locked in with fangames
Smash was fun, but the scene has only gotten more and more grotesque. Groomers, tranzformer freaks, and the awful stench.
long live PP
fantastic video!
I wish the big house had brought Nintendo to court because Nintendo could not have won that battle. What Nintendo was illegal
