If you read the manga it actually states that her cane is purely for cosmetics. she says that she can sprint and play normal activities but her family is worried so they make her use the cane

@@digily8828 Cripple was probably the wrong word, but a prosthetic should still be inferior to a real leg, meaning she's still a middle-school sized girl with physical disabilities who managed to absorb the fall of a full grown man. Of course, if her supernatural abilities helped her, it's not that impressive.
Anyway, I think her parents should be more worried about the fact that she's reckless both to mortal dangers and relationships rather than her disability. Already at 17, she attacked a creature at least ten times her body mass with just a fire extinguisher and also started to push for marriage and sex with a man she fell in love with on first eyesight.

And if you read the manga she even says her prosthetic leg is like a real limb meaning it doesn't affect her physical abilities. Also it's an anime so I wouldn't look too far into the realism
I honestly think she's a well written character. She lost her eye and leg which would traumatize anyone since it happened when she was young but she accepted immediately in consideration with what she got in return, which was a title and respect. She's highly intelligent and skilled and being easily jealous and clingy just adds more to her personality. I'm annoyed that dislike that part about her but honestly it makes her more human.
I'm beginning to wonder if she's Odin reborn who gave up his right eye and dangled from his right leg from the topmost branch of Yiggderissl the World Tree in order gain his wisdom

i’m team iwanaga all the way, but i don’t think ppl understand the significance of saki + why this arc was her and kuro getting closure. saki was kuro’s first love, and his true attempt of normalcy/denying his yokai side. she’s neither rikka or iwanaga, but she is a mixture of both. she’s the transition that showed that kuro wanted distance from rikka, but she’s the reality that he cannot easily run away bc his trauma is a part of him forever. nonetheless, it’s easy to see saki as rikka’s double, but throughout the arc, we see that her personality is very similar to iwanaga’s. that’s kuro’s actual taste, not just the face value. (he even admits that he never saw saki as rikka’s replacement, but she brushes it off bc rikka and kuro are forever bonded bc of the predicament, and that’s not something he could’ve helped, esp as a child/teenager when they started dating). but anyway, point is, saying goodbye to saki meant kuro was truly moving on with his life w/o any grievances, and his chosen path is iwanaga, who not only accepts him but allows him to use the part of himself that he hated & turn it into something good. iwanaga is self-love for kuro, but he could not have made that step if it wasn’t for saki giving him the space to grow away from his family.
I saw it like this too, and I enjoyed having Saki around even if I'm an Iwanaga/Kura shipper. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I think Kuro does like Kotoko a bit. Or at least he admires her abilities as a supernatural detective and he likes playing Watson to her Sherlock. You could sense some silent admiration in that story with the giant snake spirit. But then she's younger than him and kind of spoiled, selfish, childish, etc. So, I think he loves her brain but has issues with her personality.

Yeah, translating Japanese is difficult as it can be very contextual because the first one is a literal translation while the second one is done with the context of the situation taken into account. Basically, the first one is a fan sub and the second one is professional dub.
I think even the professional translations can be slightly off and I've seen a lot of them in the days when anime could only be watched by VHS and DVD. Based on the manga, the second translation would be more accurate. However, it still doesn't quite deliver the context to a western audience well.
Man is sad that some people don't watch this anime/manga for the lack of romance when that is not even the most relevant to the story
I watch this anime. But my problem isn't the romance.. tbh, this anime did an explanation every 1 minutes of action is what demotivated me. I watch till the end of this anime but can't really enjoy it, since it's mostly just explanation on what just happened. If only they could explain better with action rather than insert narration every move they made.. this anime has a good potential but the excessive amount of narration killed it for me..

Hey guys I watched the anime the winter it was aired and am interested in the manga. But I'm off put by the fact that bf doesn't show interest with MC. Is this because this is 1st season or is that his whole "shtick" the entire manga?
Cuz ngl can't deal with main leads being not as emotionally available and then them chalking it up as "I didn't know what I was feeling was x" after a whole crescendo of drama all because he couldn't support MC the best way possible.

There is monster fighting, but it's just context for the real show: massive walls of narrated exposition, broken up here and there by a cute character moment or a flashback. Do you enjoy reading subtitles? The s1 finale consists of them sitting in a car and narrating a fight for a full three episodes.
The show thinks it's far smarter than it really is, but it's not bad either if you like that sort of thing.
