That's a proper way to test transmission. Back in the 90s I have tested same way dodge grand Voyager transmission after rebuild.

Definitely prefer air dog. It's way easier to mount and you can tuck it on the inside of the frame rail up an inch from the cab and no one can see it and I like the quick disconnect fittings but they're a pain to stick on the hose. They're also very very quiet

These tear down and rebuild videos have also served a great reminder that as your desired horsepower and torque numbers increase, and you’re going to drive it hard, be ready for more carnage than just transmission clutch’s! Would love to see some video someday of Ryan’s pulling truck in action!

One step closer.. very informative on the rear diff. I hope you took the time to service the front as well. I have to believe it was a match for the gear ratio to the front.. never been a fan of turbo whistles or rolling coal... but I am enjoying your build and looking forward to seeing what's next. Good luck.

the biggest issue with the trac-rite is that people think their differentials just change their own oil or never need it idk haha i know alot of guys who run these on their trucks with no issues at all on pulling trucks my both of my trucks are running their original gear sets and one is at 325,000 miles on the odometer and i am the only owner. its a good gear set and if anyone argues then maybe they should have changed their gear lube more often like your suppose to .. mark seems like a good guy and a good builder for sure

maintenance will not keep that junk carrier working failed the day it left the factory, and they(chevy) did that shit for year and years on many parts. Chevy (in the past ) was known for cutting corners =$ profit. No second chances with me i don't buy their shit anymore and i don't replace and premature failed parts every other month either. @jonmaciel4696 4 ปีที่แล้ว

If anybody can answer this be free to do so also Truck master as well , but now that this video talks about rams rears I’ve always asked myself why is it and noticed that the ram trucks 2500-5500 with a Cummins of course have massive rear differentials compared to fords and gm’s like those things are huge , like the other day There was an f450 and next to it was a ram 2500 at a dealer I stopped by , and I’ll tell you what even though that ford was an f-450 the ram looked and seemed to have an even bigger rear diff than that of the f-450 in size comparison does that mean it makes the rear stronger in a way and better pulling power ??🤨🤔

blake guski hhmmm ok and do you know which truck out of the three has the biggest comparing the three an F-250 Ram 2500 and Silverado 2500 of course all diesels, Or does that depend on gear ratio and axle ratios as well pretty much I’m trying to figure out which one out of the three has the biggest pinion and ring gear in this case comparing all three all being 2500’s diesels and having similar specs ?

While this video talks about the locking diff in this rear end, they are talking about swapping the locking unit from the Ram into the Chevy housing. The locking unit from the Ram is a stronger design than the one GM specs for this rear end. That being said, the Ram and GM rear ends are the same except maybe the width, but that may not be different either. All AAM axles for 2500 series trucks were factory equipped with 3.73 gears, no exceptions, no other option. But, 4.10 and other ratios are available, but new trucks only came with the 3.73 gears, at least for a while.

I prefer the AAM unit dodge specs compared to the Gov locker gm does but you're delusional if you think dodge doesn't make questionable decisions just like the rest of the manufacturers do. G80 is fine for the average owner but doesn't tolerate abuse at all

So all you did was swap a LSD from a Dodge axle to a GM axle? Why, with that much power behind it, would you cheap out and use an old carrier and internals rather than just buying a new LSD/locker?

lol another pretty well known weak point of any Chevy truck... the rear end. and let's not forget the transmission. the engine however will run forever and a day diesel or not. can't beat Chevy's engines especially the ls series engines.. wow.
