I honestly really struggle deciding which version is my favorite. The rock version really does sound like a different song. I LOVE IT. The 80's girl in me who grew up loving all of the hair bands can't get over the guitar. (For reference, my first live show was Metallica.) At the same time, I fell in love with SKz for their unique sound, so I love both versions SO MUCH!! I WANT to see both versions live. I hope when they tour, they plan to do BOTH versions, but who knows? LALALALA is my new favorite by SKz, and after Megaverse, I gotta say, I didn't think anything could trump it, because that song...I mean let's just be honest, no one is like Stray Kids. They have invented their own sound, and it's so layered and complex and full of transitions. EDIT: for reference: the Chinese characters are Joy, Anger, Fear, and Pleasure (Happiness), and throughout the video, each character disappears until only Pleasure (Happiness) is left. the idea is those kids are SKz when they were young, battling all of these emotions to perform, and the SKz in the video fight off all of the negative emotions until only Pleasure is left. I'm REALLY unclear why Joy is considered negative, but that's the explanation being talked all over fandom. Also, I watched the BTS and the director of the video said JOY was the character still left, so now I'm super confused about which character is left between Joy and Pleasure, lol. I'm inclined to believe the director here, but...yeah, I'm still confused!
That was exactly what we initially mention and never brought back! 희 노 애 락 as in happiness, anger, sadness, and joy (joy being the main character '락' of 'rock'star album)- but we didn't know each one disappears until 락 is the only thing left!! :D Now, we are only going off your comment here, but 희노애락 is an expression used to describe all sorts of emotions a person experiences in their life - so it's not that 'happiness' is a negative thing, but just a part of the journey - the journey toward '락', which is the last character of the expression, AND the name of the album itself.
@@HandsomeSausages Thank you so much for explaining! I knew there had to be something I was missing. That makes a lot of sense, especially since they use that character in the name of the album. ❤
The director did say happiness was fleeting, hence it couldnt compare to joy. It was honestly one of the most confusing translation tho. Coz its either happiness vs joy, or joy vs pleasure. 😂
Honestly same tho. Stray Kids has vastly improved my life. Not just because their music can be so enjoyable and gives me happy chemicals in my brain, but their chaotic humor and complex duality gives me a happy escape from the stress and worries in my life. 🖤🔥
As a lifelong metalhead, there's really no doubt that the rock version is my fav. Buuuut it does say a lot about my love of Stray Kids production style and how much I've learned to love kpop that it's a much closer race than I thought it would be.
As a fellow metalhead i was so surprised that the rock version didnt end up being my favorite! Still love both but i definitly listen to the regular vrs more.
@@Asherkitkat0325 I totally get that. The rock version has a comforting familiarity with the guitars and such, but the regular one does have more variety in the verses and structure. As someone who gets bored really easily with repetitive songs that's a big reason why it's nearly a tie between the 2 for me.
@@Asherkitkat0325 also, have u heard of Xdinary Heroes? They're an actual band under JYP and they would SMASH a cover of the rock version. They've already done a band cover of hellevator that I actually like better than the skz version (shhh don't tell Chan that!)
Totally agree. The rock version has a familiar feeling and you can 100% rock the f*ck out to it. But, the MV version is so layered and intricate that it keeps you guessing throughout. I'm more drawn to the original as well.
I love so much about this song, but Chan's "24/7..." and the surprise at the end of the rock version are definitely top moments. I enjoyed this video so much!!! Your reaction is so funny (while I know it's genuine) and then your analysis on the production is enlightening. I'm not sure I've actually heard the strings in that Hyunjin's part until you pointed them out and I definitely hear them now. And my favourite part of all, the lyrics explanation. Thank you for writing the words while you talk, it really helps for someone who has pretty good visual memory (not so much when it's something I only heard). It's great to understand all the hard work that Stray Kids put on their songs. Thank you for your own hard work doing these videos, and sharing so much here on your channel.
Can I say how much I appreciate your reactions?! Y'all crack me up and are also share great knowledge. I almost died laughing @6:05. Then you reined it in and talked about some of the technicalities, which I love. I love the video, but the rock version just hits so perfectly. What can I say, there is a reason I'm Stay - love all they do and so happy to others enjoy all of their hard work.
im pretty sure that our boys wanted it the Rock version for the title but i think they changed it because of the Korean standard and i say that cause if you see the Billboard performance they used the Rock version , thank u for your reaction i was waiting for that 🥰
Thank you for the breakdown. It makes more sense now why Versachoi said that sounds like "lunch box," and 3racha said it's intentional in the Intro episode.
I screaaamed internally when I saw this. I've been waiting for this ❤️. Looove your reaction, coz saaaame !!!!!! So excited for comflex! Wow your explanation with the world plays are amazing. I appreciate the song nad people behind this amazing masterpiece ❤️ thank you ❤️
Already got the studio choom version at patreon, and more to come! :D patreon.com/handsomesausages *Just to address something someone asked that we forgot to bring up during our lyrical analysis. The four Chinese letters shown throughout the MV are 희 노 애 락 as in happiness, anger, sadness, and joy (joy being the main character '락' of 'rock'star album). 희노애락 is an expression used to describe all sorts of emotions a person experiences in their life - so it's not that the first letter, 희, meaning 'happiness', is negative emotion or anything, but just a part of the journey - the journey toward '락', which is the last character of the expression, AND the name of the album itself. And this is why each character disappears as the MV progresses, leaving only '락' at the end!* We actually talk more in depth about what this means at patreon (it's a public post so everyone can read it) so take a look if you want to know more!
This SKZ comeback is killing me and I'm here for it, as one of my wreckers aka Han ( I tried to keep him on a tight leash but he broke from it lol) has joined my other two biases Felix and Hyunjin (now i have 3) and my wreckers wrecker Lee Know has joined Changbin as a wrecker. I am in love with the pirate\purge theme throughout the MV as its more like they are trying to show people no matter what they wont change as they give people like me hope that we can just be who we are. the lyrics are also amazing as ever as I had ever since the teaser, lalalala la lalalala stuck in my head when I wake up and wen I go to sleep. The beat is also super catchy as its a beat that's the type to get you hyped up and ready for anything. On a side note i love Han wearing the clown mask as I could tell it was him just by looking at his eyes. also I just wanted to say i love the choreo and learning it myself and i also love the rapping and vocals in the song aswell. also i love the rock sound as if it wasnt for kpop i wouldnt be into rock type music at all and talking bout the music i love the drums and the guitars also i love how chaotic but natural it all looks.
First for once!!! I'm SO EXCITED FOR THIS!! AHH! IM SOOO PROUD OF OUR STRAY KIDS!!! ❤❤😂😊😊 Edit2: I've seen comments on other videos (and Chan talked about it in the Skz MV reaction video) on the chinese characters. They are Sorrow, Anger, Joy, and Pleasure and slowly, all disappear until only Pleasure is left. (Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong 😅) Link for their reaction if you guys want it. 😊th-cam.com/video/wEmrUWyQA78/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bBjRUPzZSjV04SXJ
Exactly! And i remember han mentioning the mv kind of is reminiscent of the movie inside out in which the emotions are directing things. They described the kids go through a progression of those emotions. But since other emotions disappear, only pleasure is left to direct the life of the kids.
Thanks for always helping us with the lyrics. You are also correct with the lunch box in the recording session Changbin said it is intentional 😁 As always I enjoyed your reaction.
I am so shocked and delighted at the same time that there are simply no words, my heart is pounding like mad. The vocals and the image of Seungmin are something unthinkable, the voice impresses with its power and strength and the visual with unreal beauty. Of course he has always been talented and handsome BUT NOW I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE IT IN WORDS. I just love the way he dances, his style of movement is so natural, while absolutely always clear and clean, and with this choreography he blew up and burned everything around such a colossal return.
The rest of the music world might as well retire. Stray kids can do it all throughout all different genres. They are seriously underrated on how genius they are for such young people. Especially Bang Chan. If he doesn’t get into a Hall of Fame sometime in the future, there is no justice.
He's technically right, which makes the biologist part of me laugh. Pilio-erection is the technical term which just means hair erection. It's effect is of small muscles that tense, making the small hairs of your skin stand up, giving you goosebumps. The 'bump' part is the tiny tensed muscle. I agree. That's a phrase you don't expect to hear and it's a little odd.
Love your reaction. Thank you for this. Rock version brings out memories from way back when I was in high school where I listened to heavy metal rock songs. I love it. Even though they are the same song, they feel so different. Love it.

Thank you for explaining the lyrics. I remember being confused when I saw in the behind the scenes someone said to them that what they sang sounded like lunchbox, and Chan and Changbin told them that it was intentional.
I’ve been a metalhead my whole almost 30 years of life(thanks dad lol) but a kpop fan for about 5 years. What drew me into Stray Kids was how aggressive their sound has been, that “rock version” is borderline just metal with pop vocals, which the “Djent” sub-subgenre has always been good at and that’s what the rock version really got down. I love it, it’s my favorite kpop remix I’ve ever heard.

LALALALA is such a wonderful song indeed. I hope you can react to Stray Kids' BBMAs (Billiboard Music Awards) 2023 performance where they performed S-Class and LALALALA (with a little bit of a remix). It was so grand and mind-blowing, probably one of their best live performances! Thanks for your reactions and explanations Handsome Sausages!🤟

both the og and the rock version ROCK! like, I didn't anticipate the total rock rock ver i thought just the involvement of some rock elements will be there. wow. thank you for this!!!
I love your reactions! Always waiting for your next one. I really enjoy listening to you explaining things, especially the instrumental details. Keep going guys! Thank you 🥰❤️🔥
The only thing that I really wish the rock version had is the little beat break down between the pre-chorus and the chorus. It would have been so cool for that to have been a live drum descending fill!! Maybe even with a slightly delayed chorus the second time or something. But overall this was ABOVE AND BEYOND.
finally my fav reactors!! i love the way you explain and talk everything about this song. fyi, lalalala successfully enter bb hot 100 at #90. it was their first ever entry 🥹🥹🥹
This song is so amazing, it still has the same impact for me everytime I hear it like it was the first time especially when I see them perform it. The energy and power is insane. It really hypes me up like no other.
YESSS been waiting like a crazy person for this reaction hehe. I was so happy their rock version was a proper hard rock version, as a rocker/metalhead as well as a straykids fan it was heeeaven
16:45 on their intro recording video chan, i think, or maybe changbin said to another producer(?) with them at the studio. that other person asked that it kinda sounds like "lunchbox" and changbin/chan said that it was intentional your reactions are so good and your analysis and further explanations really helps international fans to understand more so thank you so muchhh

Loved, loved .... Loved your reaction.
These young men are amazing lyricists.
It became my hobby to wait for your reaction to skz hahaha. Can't wait for Megaverse MV reaction!!
The only thing that I really wish the rock version had is the little beat break down between the pre-chorus and the chorus. It would have been so cool for that to have been a live drum descending fill!! Maybe even with a slightly delayed chorus the second time or something. But overall this was ABOVE AND BEYOND.
I think you’ll love all the other songs, but especially cover me, blind spot, and comflex. Can’t wait!
BEST INTRO EVER 😂😂😂😂❤
finally my fav reactors!! i love the way you explain and talk everything about this song. fyi, lalalala successfully enter bb hot 100 at #90. it was their first ever entry 🥹🥹🥹
This song is so amazing, it still has the same impact for me everytime I hear it like it was the first time especially when I see them perform it. The energy and power is insane. It really hypes me up like no other.
I cant believe we a 20min video from a single reaction! I love it! More more more, it helps u too analyse and get more info from the song
YESSS been waiting like a crazy person for this reaction hehe. I was so happy their rock version was a proper hard rock version, as a rocker/metalhead as well as a straykids fan it was heeeaven
16:45 on their intro recording video chan, i think, or maybe changbin said to another producer(?) with them at the studio. that other person asked that it kinda sounds like "lunchbox" and changbin/chan said that it was intentional
your reactions are so good and your analysis and further explanations really helps international fans to understand more so thank you so muchhh
i've been waiting for this !!! i haven't watched the video yet but i know i'm in it for the ride. you guys are my favorite reactors ever TT
