    Mark, I swear I've never seen such a perfect mix of technique and musicality. You're unreal, dude. You're my #1 source of inspiration today, and I'm a bass player! Thanks for being such a genius! Best of luck and cheers from Brazil!

    I’ve been listening to the solo for years. Mark, on the off chance you see this, you are by far one of my favorite musicians. Seeing you guys in Mississippi changed my life.

    Thanks man. Ya know, Beck, Ford, Van Halen, Prince, etc...I've had some great teachers along the way, but no music degree or anything like that. Dimarzio pickups in the ol' Strat.

    Young Stuff solo is the most modern form of blues/fusion guitar solo I ever heard in the past of 5 years.

    Man, please keep blessing us with your musicality. Your solos are always very fluid, with a nice mood, and I really love the melodic/harmonic pathways that you take. Wish you all the best

    I first saw you play in an Erykah Badu concert in Portugal with killer riffs. Now, every time winter comes and the temperature starts to drop, my jaw feels the repercussions of falling way too hard. With these solo's you don't seem to have any compassion for my smashed lower facial structure. Keep it up, you're an inspiration.

    • @LarzastiC
      @LarzastiC 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I still think you should have kept and used the towel Erykah made you wear around your head that night haha. I'm definitely seeing you when Snarky Puppy comes to London. All the best Master Mark, have a great day :) By the way, could you tell me which Dimarzio pickups you use in your strat? Thank you.

    If I had to name a top 10 list of GOAT guitar solos, this would definitely be on there, we're talking Prince, Eddie Van Halen level. This didn't get the attention of Cory Henry's Lingus solo but it's just as epic and great.

    Before i heard that, my prefered guitar chorus was the one of the album version of Since I've Been Loving You. :-)
    And now, i'm collecting all the chorus you've done on this song. Hoping you'll do it one magic day, with a real good recording.
    Thank you so much, Mark, for this inspiring moment, and for the others.

    • @jameswellington4795
      @jameswellington4795 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To play RnB and Soul you apply the same concepts as you do in jazz if you're talking about lead playing. Using the modes, outside voices of scales, targeting leading tones etc in the chords. Knowing which mode applies to wish chord. Rhythmic displacement. These are just a few pointers.

  • @marley3750
    @marley3750 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Mark, i'm working on this song at the moment checking out the voicings etc. but I was wondering what scales you play over the D7♯9, sounds dirrrrty!

    • @RemovedNull

      D dominant diminished...or altered scale (Eb melodic minor)

    Mark...love your timing and phrasing. Who are your musical influences? You have to have had some form of formal music training with your harmonic sense. Am I right? Are those stock pickups in your strat?

  • @FusionZero13

      +Mark Lettieri That totally just blew my mind.
      Haha seriously though, very killer work on both songs, I admit to a little fangirling over your playing. Love your solo on Jambone with the Hendrix line at the end.
      I hope one day I have flow and feel like you do. Stay groovy man, really digging the new stuff and the old.
