If you have her curl pattern or texture, I recommend spraying your hair with water, maybe finger detangle a little, and brush your hair to get rid of any knots. From then on, you're going to use your fingers to apply the products and twist. I realized that combing/brushing my hair (3c4a, similar to ashhnyc) after applying products causes more frizz because you're kind of separating the curls or preventing clumping. I like raking my products in after brushing my hair out with just water. If you have type 4b/4c I recommend topping off application with some gel and working in small sections to get more definition. The raking method can work, but I don't know if that curl enhancing technique works best on tighter/kinkier curls. Make sure to twist tight, not starting or twisting so far down from the roots that way the twist stays intact from root to tip and you get better definition. I hope these tips help.
