      The first story in this one is most likely fake for several reasons: The guy wasn't investigated when he had admitted he was bringing all the cats to the pound prior to them having been killed by antifreeze and the last one by glass shards in the food to see if any remains of the broken glass or the traps could be found in his property, "For Princess" written when cops knew this guy was suspected of killing everyone's pets yet no one was interrogated or investigated about the property destruction plus the several hours of property destruction that happened without anyone reporting it, and despite the guy hating everyone the kids somehow knew he had wife's ashes and in which container when any regular kid in that situation wouln't even notice it had dust inside after smashing it on the floor along with everything else.
      The second story the only issue I can find is exactly what you mention, so it might be true and that guy simply chose to not get involved with it.

    Concerning DNA testing in the 90s:
    There was this guy, Ronny Rieken, who did terrible things to little girls in my area of north west Germany back in 1998. DNA testing was pretty new back then. In fact it was such a novelty that Ronny didn't believe it even worked, and had himself tested after his brother in law (I think) dared him into getting tested (aka if you have nothing to hide, go have a test). Joke's on him. He got out of jail like two or three years ago.

    • @johnydl
      @johnydl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      The human Genome Project ran from 1990-2003 with the first fully DNA sequenced human on April 14, 2003.
      Human DNA was not used extensively for forensics they didn't routinely collect it, however there were things that are closely related that were, semen and blood samples, but generally this was expensive and only done for a serious crime. Sexual assault kits have been around since the 70s and commonplace since the 80s. As early as 1983 were the first uses of DNA profiling (chromosomal level) and DNA was first used to convict someone in 1987. We knew from then that any samples that were collected and properly stored could have been able to be used later as sequencing became more common, and this DNA evidence along with better faster sequencing has been used to acquit falsely accused people.
      That said DNA wasn't so common a technique that it would have even been considered for a break-in and vandalise the way it might be now. And it only became so popular following its use in Dramas like CSI and similar which first aired in 2000, it was technology that was just plausible and made for a good plot device.
      Did DNA testing exist in the 90s? Yes. Would it have been used for something like this? No

    • @ecobalt666
      @ecobalt666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      DNA profiling has been around since the 80s. I the reason the cops in the story didn't use it was its high costs back in the day.

    • @TiffWaffles
      @TiffWaffles 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@johnydl DNA profiling was a common technique that was used in the 1980s and the 1990s- so you are wrong with your five minute Wikipedia search. The only problem is that DNA profiling was in its infancy. In the 1980s and early 1990s, they would try to match blood types to the suspect. However, police did utilize DNA evidence in many cases in the 1990s. A simple google search into 1990s murders would give you that information. Please don't come here with your false information.
      Also, CSI shows did not popularize DNA. They didn't advance DNA. They didn't do any of the research. They didn't even do a good job at portraying the process that it takes to extract, quantify/qualify DNA, amplify DNA, or even accurately depict the process it takes to analyze and then translate the data you get when you get a DNA sequence/profiling DNA. The people that popularized DNA forensic science were the actual scientists like Butler, not some subpar CSI show that didn't even do any of the science correct. Police and forensic scientists in the 90s were working together for many, many years to get DNA profiling the spotlight it currently has. Not a television show that you believe is accurate.
      Now, I do agree that DNA profiling would have been useless in this case because there is a possibility that there is no DNA available. However, I am in serious doubt about the OPs story. Police wouldn't be doing their jobs if a homeowner (even one as disgusting and unlikable as this douche was) suffered damages of over $20,000, not even including the damages of the car, and they didn't do anything. These kids could have gotten into a lot of trouble if discovered, because believe it or not evidence would exist (transfer, fingerprints, other impression evidence such as shoe prints). The younger kids would probably get away with a warning, but the teenagers? Especially older teenagers?

    • @johnydl
      @johnydl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TiffWaffles I didn't say there was no DNA profiling in the 80s or 90s I said that it is not the same process as what we mean by modernday DNA evidence where we know the whole sequence of AGTCs that make up a human being, back then it's was more like comparing monochrome barcodes that were generated from the chromosomes. It was neither cheap nor ubiquitous, the police couldn't get a DNA profile from almost any trace evidence in a few hours. When I said common I meant this, in terms of evidence DNA was relatively uncommon even if every lab was technically capable of doing the testing, but doing a DNA test wasn't even a weekly occurrence for most labs and so less common than say fingerprint evidence or chemical tracing or blood antibody analysis.
      While I agree that lots of researchers did a lot of work part of the reason for many prosecutors pushing for more and more DNA based evidence was public perception, DNA evidence entered the public consciousness in a much bigger way thanks TV dramas than any individual cases being in the news. It doesn't matter how crappy you or I think the shows are they changed the public perception of what level of evidence is necessary for conviction changed. This meant even if the science in the shows were bad they had as much if not more to do with how necessary DNA became for getting criminals put behind bars.
      The information I gave wasn't strictly false it was just simplified to tell a reasonable story as fast as possible as soon as the video came out, I do appreciate your giving me the opportunity to explain what I meant further and I understand what you said was meant to help inform, next time you should do so without making assumptions about the motivations of other posters and the information they share. The information I shared didn't come strictly from Wikipedia, though I did have to double-check many details because my memory isn't perfect.
      As to this specific case? I don't have so many reservations about it, and I think it could be real, if there's no direct evidence, no witnesses and no leads I can easily imagine that police would have little to do as far as further investigations. If no-one is willing to talk or help, there's no CCTV, hunting for fingerprints could be almost impossible and even if they could there's no guarantee they could match them to anyone if the kids weren't in the system already. And most likely the only person the guy could point at was the owner of princess and old lady with no knowledge when the police showed to alert the police simple connection to a gang who might have acted on her behalf and who wouldn't have credibly been able to commit the crime either. The police might have taken this one lead to show he was crazy and perhaps think he did these things to himself, either literally or figuratively and been less keen to trace the people who did it especially in a small-town police force.

    • @Karagianis
      @Karagianis 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The first use of DNA profiling to solve a murder had only been in 1987, so early 1990s was pretty early days and still probably too expensive for the police to use for a simple break in. Also you have to have samples to compare dna evidence to, and given how much the locals hated the old git I doubt there'd be many stepping forward if asked to provide dna samples.

      Raymond D Charles half sort of justice on OP's part. It's infuriating how his aunt took his mother's side and called him a disappointment. She practically does not understand him and how shocking she did not take in how awful her own sister was even after showing her true colors. I don't know what to say. I don't know if OP should cut contact with her, but she is a very kind/forgiving person.

    For info about the update to the last story: OP has a job (or two) and is doing okay. Nothing too amazing, but not awful either. As for the evil mom, she fled the country somehow. She made one last call to OP, giving a sobbing story of how her life was ruined and denying she did anything wrong. OP, not feeling any remorse, told her the real truth of what happened and that is was her own fault. To add, OP admitted to p**sing in her tea before hanging up and blocking her.

    The 2nd story wasn't nuclear revenge. That usually entails that something illegal was done. It's more like pro revenge.

    • @hauntedshadowslegacy2826
      @hauntedshadowslegacy2826 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nuclear revenge isn't just illegal revenge. It also entails the total destruction of the target's life. Meaning things like loss of home, job, transport, reputation, etc., and possibly their own incurred jail time or other legal charges pressed, typically in excess of several thousand dollars. It could also mean the dismantling/destruction of an entire company (usually with more than 50 employees). Oftentimes, nuclear revenge causes a ripple effect, putting innocent parties in the wake of destruction.
      In summary, nuclear revenge is a compounding of multiple factors (some illegal, but not always) that irrevocably changes lives for the worse, all set off by only a few people (sometimes just one person).

      I’ll never forget that book. I had to take occasional breaks. It’s been almost 20 years, and it is still the most horrific autobiography I’ve ever read. I read that in high school in my Morality class. Yes, that was the name lol; I went to a private Catholic school. I did a presentation that was a quick book summary followed by an in depth analysis about the whether its immortal for a parent committing child abuse incorporating specific events in the book. I protested “how do I argue its immorality!? It just is!”
      Mr. R told me “of course it is! but you need to tell us why; treat us like we don’t understand why.” Learned a lot about children’s brain development, child psychology, differing cultures, the history of acceptable “discipline” and how/if it’s changed, parental instincts (focused on maternal in this case), what should be considered abuse & why, impacts on society, Bible verses that support corporal punishment alongside its contradictory messages & which I ultimately decided Jesus would support, and also touched upon his siblings’ actions/inactions.
      It was really depressing, but I am still very proud of it. Hated reading it though. My presentation made people cry. I still remember bits.
      My conclusion was, surprise surprise, child abuse is immoral! And that, obviously, Jesus would think so as well.
      Side note: I separate Jesus’ messages and parables in the Bible from the Catholic Church’s doctrines & actions. The Bible ≠ Catholic Church. I’m not religious now nor was I then, but I find the Bible incredibly interesting. I enjoy reading and contemplating what is being said. It is an incredible important tome of fiction to me.

    I was on the cutting edge of PCR chemistry in the 1990's and DNA testing began a little bit later than 1990 itself. It got going about 1993-1994. Before that, some of it could be done, but you would need a huge amount of sample (maybe rape would get someone, or a large blood sample), but definitely not tiny amounts. Polymerase Chain Reaction changed that, since it became possible to reproduce the DNA over and over again, in order to actually get the blue-print. That's when a hair follicle might actually get someone caught.

I have been left with a brain injury from the trauma. My mother laughed at me for being unemployed & having no boyfriend & would taunt me for it. So I recognise the behaviour. Your mother has narcissistic personality disorder, so if you want to understand why she has acted as she did it would be very worthwhile to look that up.

    The ashes though... oof. I don’t care about him, but I’m going to have to tell myself the same thing as Fluff. Honestly, he has to be some type of f-ed up even before war or wife died. Grief and trauma doesn’t make someone proud of filling innocent kitties’ bellies with glass. That darkness was in his soul already.
