I love moths. They are like the off road rugged version of butterflys 😆

Fantastic selection of moths and insects, lucky you. I would be taking macro photos of as many as I can. this reminds me of Alishan mountain in Taiwan, outside of our lodge on a tea plantation about 1000 meters up, nighttime tons of moths outside

Yes lucky indeed and yes I take Macro of as much as possible for recording before release.

did you encounter any night flaying wasps in Malaysia like I did when I did a nighttime bug study at the hotel I stayed at in Brazil I found a lot of wasps that fly at night as well as plenty of other interesting insects even some predetory insects attracted by the number of other insects I had attracted to the light including a huge hurcules beetle and a good sized harlequin beetle as well as Dobson flies those Dobson flies are really scary looking bugs with the males huge mandibles

Sorry i missed your message, yes i do encounter wasps and other scary looking stinging stuff but they rarely take any interest in me like they would during the day. I guess the light is more interesting or the commotion around them more distracting.
I have had a few instances where i have had to switch off the light due to swarms arriving. Usually ants or bees though.

The Swallowtailed looks so much like ours (UK). Do you do your id from video footage rather than boxing all that catch ?

Hi there, I concentrate on Hawks and Saturnid species mostly and take hi res images of everything that catches my eye. Trying to properly survey there would probably mean killing everything and having a lot of time available!
Any sign of collecting or killing stuff would probably get me banned from the place as well.
Its such a privilege to get to see such diversity and I never tire of it.

@@richardpoxon Nice. I wouldn't want to kill any on purpose. I bet that must be a fantastic experience out there.

the buzzing beetle is a carrion beetle and a large one from the looks of it! those are what would be found munching on a dead human and can be used to solve murders
