Hello 👋 I hope you’re safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity and love all over the world I'm Engineer Christopher Johnson from New York and you where are you from if I may asked?
Super result !!!! I love the combination of vintage/antique and modern. Well done, very cosy with a lot of character aswell !!! Greetings from Belgium, Europe.
I have many favorites. The best, is my deceased mother-in-laws recipe box. It is such a treasure to have recipes written in her beautiful penmanship. Recipes that are family favorites. Many recipes are shared from her friends with their names on the card. What a walk down memory lane!
Love the mixture it is very inviting. Embraces you with nostalgia of days gone by with the items. Seems romantic to me. Love it. You did a great job keeping it bright and cheerful with lots of warmth. Peace!
Antiques fit our home since it's an 100 year old country church. We have more antiques than new but love the mix. Two of our favorites are one an round ice box in the dining room for storage for all the grilling items and an glass and enamel dental cabinet in the main bath for storage and display.
Extremely helpful!! I start feeling like I'm living in a antique store, so I've been struggling finding that balance. I'll be watching again and taking notes. Thank you for sharing! Would love to see more of these videos!
My favorite antiques are cupboards that belonged to my husband’s grandfather . He also has some cool pieces from his store ….. I love your advice on showing us how to combine these kind of meaningful , personal pieces with modern decor ! Great job ! Blessings!
I just found your Chanel while searching for ideas on how to add my antiques info a modern coastal cottage. I love your spot-on advice! Can you post where you found the modern chairs in your family room. They are exactly what I’ve been looking for! Thank you!
In the mid 1930’s, when my mother was a little girl, her parents bought a relative’s house. Left behind was a Sissons humpback clock. I remember hearing that Westminster chime when visiting my grandparents home in Indiana. Now it’s on a bookcase in my dining room. It hasn’t run in several years, but my memories are still precious, and perhaps one day my grandchildren will visit me, to start a new generation of treasured moments.
Hello 👋 I hope you’re safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity and love all over the world I'm Engineer Christopher Johnson from New York and you where are you from if I may asked?
I have been waiting gor this video bc I wanted to see how you displayed your wooden bowls. I love wooden bowls, too. I have a small collection. Great tips. Thanks!
I am collecting Staffordshire Dalmations and Greyhounds, they are out of fashion in the UK at this time surely thats the best time to start a collection when they are cheaper. Your home is gorgeous.
Your home is just gorgeous, so happy I found your channel! My fav piece is a vintage dresser I found while walking my dog, a neighbor was getting rid of it. I sanded and painted it the same color as your hutch. Just last weekend I found a vintage gold mirror just perfect for it!
I love old things but when furniture is so distressed it looks like someone pulled it out of the river… not so much. Your home is very pretty and so put together. ❤️❤️❤️
Hello 👋 I hope you’re safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity and love all over the world I'm Engineer Christopher Johnson from New York and you where are you from if I may asked?
I just found your channel and I'm really loving it. I don't do modern so much but I really love the juxtaposition of old and new and like to throw touches in. Your home reminds me a lot of Free Range Cottage as well. Very neat!
Thank you! Your home is beautiful and I got inspired to redo some of my decor. I love the shelving that you had in your dining room. It’s a great idea for a space that butts up against an opening into another room. My favorite antique is my husband 😝😂 jk. I have a vintage enameled coffee pot, most likely Scandinavian. It has the words, “Coffee maketh bright the spirit” on it. It’s a white background with beautiful colors on it. I also own my great grandmother’s meat grinder, and so many other pieces as well. I too, grew up going to thrift stores, yard sales, rummage sales, etc. I was trained to look for kitchen items, linens and glass pieces. To this day I love glass pieces and kitchen items. God bless you.
My folks were into antiques - refinishing and reselling as well as using in their home. I have a number of their pieces in my home now that they have passed away. A few I chose to paint as I don't care for the red mahogany finish now that several years have gone by. Cute quip my sister said when she was little and tired of our folks hobby: "When I grow up I'm going to have modren (that's how she pronounced modern) furniture." Now she has a mix of new and old!
I have so many favorites but what has made the biggest difference in my home are vintage oil paintings. I am drawn to lovely landscapes and they bring color, beauty and calmness to our space. At auctions these paintings can be had for very little money.
I really enjoyed your video! My design style is modern vintage, as well, so thanks for new ideas! Also, I love that you include God’s word in some of your videos. Perfect!❤️
My favorite vintage items are needlepoints my mom created. I am trying to intersperse some of those pieces with my newer things. What would you recommend for updating a cherry Queen Ann-style oval coffee table? If you suggested painting it, which color would you choose? My style is less farmhouse and more modern. Thanks for your video, Sarah!
Thank you so much..I learned alot today and I needed to see this.I was just going to sell alot of my finds thinking my house is looking like a museum. But I came across you.So I haave a question for you what color did you paint your cabinet.I have and old piece from Pennsylvania and you convinced me to paint it.
I love mixing antique pieces with a modern home. I have 5 things that I love. #1 a very old sideboard, #2 using silver creamer & sugar bowls to hold flowers, 3. linens, 4. vintage floral dishes and 5. vintage prints. I just found an antique wooden framed mirror with pegs on it and I'm thinking of placing that in my new laundry room.
Hi, I’m Risa and I’m redoing living and dining rooms to vintage. I have collected 4 silent butlers. Growing up, my mom used it to walk around the house and emptying ashtrays. I have hers and it’s my prize possession. I recently found and purchased 3 more beauties to hang on a wall as a collection. What do you think?
I have a civil-war era wheelchair - which I love and is the "conversation piece". Incorporating it into a modern design is a challenge which is why I'm here.
Sarah, can you tell us how you did the wooden header in your hall way? Was it there when you moved in? I too, have a ton of antiques, and try to keep the balance so it doesn't look like a "old persons" house. LOL
A large antique mirror and a china clock from my mother-in-law's home, a copper sieve that hung in my mom's house for years and a small plaque that says God Bless this House that hung in my grandmother's house. An egg scale to weigh eggs from when my mom raised chickens and sold eggs. A VERY large ( 2 ft tall) green glass jug that my dad bought at an auction.
Depends on the antique. Some antiques hold no value at all. Others are very rare. Generally original finishes in good condition add to their value. Refinishing to original condition would as well.
My collectible dolls and this Chinese chest that given to me by my grandma in law. It looks so amazing and its so precious to me. I absolutely hate the all modern look with no wooden or warm features. It lacks personality.
My favorite antique item is my card catalog! My husband found it at an auction. I love antiques in modern homes!
Ooo that’s a fun find!

My style is very similar to yours. I love mixing old with new. My favorite antique is a 20 gallon crock that has the year 1888 stamped on it..
So cool! I love when something is dated.

I love collecting antiques. It’s a toss up between my china hutch and a antique dresser vanity.
It’s always so fun to find those kinds of pieces!
My favorite find is a wine sales display. It is a six foot tall wine rack shaped like the Eiffel tower.
How fun!
My Great Grandmother’s Sheet Music cabinet. About 130-140 years old. ❤

Do antiques lose their value from refinishing or is that something that could be removed for resale?
Depends on the antique. Some antiques hold no value at all. Others are very rare. Generally original finishes in good condition add to their value. Refinishing to original condition would as well.
