The reason why nobody could recognize them is because when they do change into their miraculous forms a lot of small details changes for instance marinette's hair color actually darkens Adrian's hair tends to become a lot more messy and uncapped heels and also their personalities tend to shift in a way that their friends don't recognize all of that compile up the people simply going the same person acting without restrictions

I still don’t think that should be enough for a normal human being to not recognize that they are the same people. I think that maybe some of their face features change slightly in another persons eyes or something like that but I still can’t figure out how people thought that chloe was ladybug unless they just don’t take the face features in account because your face is unique but if you change some things slightly you look like a totally different person.

How come in anti bug jagged stone and the interviewer’s thought Chloe was ladybug and she didn’t have a wig, but in rossnoble (or whatever it’s called) Chloe WAS wearing a wig and they didn’t think Chloe was ladybug? It just makes no sense!!!
I think it's because no one expected the real Ladybug to show up to audition as Ladybug. Also, Adrien easily identified his childhood best friend, revealing her identity to everyone. However, Jagged Stone and the interviewers didn't know Chloe very well at all, so they hoped she was the real Ladybug coming to interview.

I was actually writing out my theory for the video (so I don’t stumble over my words) and I actually re thought of how the kwamiis affect Marinette and Adrien. There are some personality traits that as normal people these two don’t have. For example Ladybug’s more calm and collected attitude and Cat Noir’s mannerisms and facial expressions when he talks. Also when either of them talk you can kind of hear Tiki and Plagg’s tone of voice. Maybe the kwamiis have some sort of trick of the eyes to an outsider to keep their identities a secret. Now that I think about it this theory could answer all the questions about the show. Except maybe Hawk Moths secret basement haha. 💙💙💙💙💙💙

The Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest is most likely an urban myth. And even if it is true, Chaplin only lost because he entered without his costume. A quick Google search confirms the Dolly Parton story. However, she deliberately exaggerated her features, meaning she wasn't trying to win. On the other hand, Marilyn Monroe was apparently an expert at doing this. Actually, there was some kind of explanation there. The disguise has more to do with mentality. The behavior of Clark and Superman are so different people don't draw the comparison. And the fact Superman is so obvious in his hero form, not wearing any mask nor trying to hide, that people don't even think he has a secret identity. It may be the same here. Meek and clumsy Marinette don't match with acrobatic and leaderly Ladybug. Polite and gentleman Adrien does not match with Flirty and chaotic Chat. All resemblance is written off as a coincidence.

It doesnt make sense to say that the kwamis can see through their identifies because if that was the case it would be easy for Hawk Moth to find out their real identities. I think the theory of giving the kwamis precognition of their holder makes more sense.
In the nyc special, Uncanny says that their miraculous has quantum masking which means human minds can’t see who it is by just looking at the heroes. Computers and robots can detect them though because they weren’t designed for that
People's inability to recognise LB and Chat reminds me a lot of how the same thing happens in Sailor Moon and other magical girl anime. A lot of the time, magical girls look almost the same when transformed, especially in Sailor Moon. Like, Usagi's hairstyle is extremely unique and when she transforms she only gets a couple hair accessories and her hairstyle is otherwise unchanged. On top of no one being able to recognize her as Sailor Moon, it is also a long time before she is recognized as the moon princess and later as Neo Queen Serenity even though her hairstyle is still the exact same. This has bothered me since I was 5 lol. I still have no answers other than must be magic or people are really just that blind.
I have a simple explanation on why Adrien doesn’t think Marinette is Ladybug. In Timebreaker Ladybug goes back in time and Adrien sees Ladybug and Marinette at the same time.
I always believed the cause to be a perception filter brought about by glimmer magic. Glimmers are referenced in multiple fictional universes, such as 'Fables', as an enchantment that conceals identities. The perception filter comes about from Doctor Who, where the large and obviously out of place blue phone box is ignored by pedestrians unless being intently looked for by those familiar with the technology. Combined with the unrealistic expectations of: Clumsy flustered Marinette and world renowned model Adrien being superheroes, it falls to reason that no matter how obvious the explanation, most people prefer to work out conspiracies by ignoring the glaringly obvious and determining the explanation to a more convoluted plausibility. People want to determine their own minds whats likely answer, so will reject anything that does not seem to fit this ideology. These three elements combined make for a secret identity that is dramatically ironic for the audience for comedic effect, as we laugh at the absurdity of the other characters obliviousness.
That´s also what I thought about, because it`s, like you said, the very same thing like we have with the TARDIS. Even in the middleage or rome to Neros time, they just walk by and not even notice a thing, they`ve never seen before in their lifes!
In an FAQ on tumblr a long time ago, Astruc said it was the same as SuperMan Logic. But I’ve decided it was magic cause Superman Logic makes no sense to me. Also it puzzles me how people often say that the similarities of Cat Noir to Adrian is as similar as Ladybug to Marinette. To me Mari has no physical changes when transforming. As opposed to Adrian who hair and eyes changes. His behavior as Cat Noir is so drastically different from his behavior as Adrian that it be more buyable that people don’t connect the two. Also, people have photoshopped a Cat Noir pic on Adrian and he doesn’t look like he normally does as Cat Noir. It looked like Adrian cosplaying or something. Which is why it always bothered me that Alya can make the connections of Adrian to Cat Noir, but not Mari to Ladybug when she looks exactly the same. But whatever, I don’t know why sometimes it feels like I’m watching a different show than most of the fans. But whatever.
I agree that Tikki and Plagg were probably told b4 hand but I have a another for why people can't tell the identities of LB and Chat... I think that kwami's can sense each other's presence as told by Wayzz(?) In the origin episode where he states that he could feel Nooroo or some evil force, in the Syren Adrien tries bribing Plagg to tell him what he knows about LB's identity or what Plagg knows that LB isn't telling him. I think kwamis can communicate via telephay... ok so I mean if they are close enough to each other (space not relationsnips) so I predict that Tikki and Plagg have been keeping in touch, they aren't sure wether to tell Marinette and Adrien their Identities just yet, I suspect they will for the season finale... I believe there is a small concealment spell due to some tragic accident etc; etc; that only allows bystanders to guess who they are (like you and Alya said They look like LB and CN but they don't act like them) I'm suspecting not ALL the civilians are as dense as Adrien towards LB's identity but the Miraculous (or a kwami influence) causes a slight personality change to how Marinette and Adrien wish they were like! I also think Max (AKA the Gamer) knows the identities of LB and CN but he wants to keep it under wraps and start to doubt his own theory a little while after figuring it out.
okay so I'm happy someone else talked about the kwamis sensing each other if their close enough but this leads to more questions. If it's true then why can't Plagg sense Nooroo or the peacock kwami and or the miraculous. Like they literally live in the same household. And I seriously don't understand how Plagg didn't notice the peacock miraculous when Adrien and him found that book when it was right in front of their faces.
It's way simpler than that they don't mirror there identities marrinette goes from clumsy and shy to brave and confident Adrien goes from Rich sad boy to flirtacious playboy thus there too different to pin there identities and people can see there hair and most of their face

Okay, Marinette is OBSESSED with Adrien, and a Yandere doesn't require murder, BUT it does require that Marinette be willing to do ANYTHING for the object of her desire. Actually, there are two types of Yanderes: possessive and obsessive. Most Yanderes are obsessive (they will stop at nothing to please their special one, be in a relationship with their special one, etc., even if that means killing the competition or killing themselves), but the possessive ones simply see their special one as an object to be owned, dead or alive. (If you've ever seen the School Days anime, compare Kotonoha in the last episode with Yuno Gasai as possessive vs obsessive respectively. But if you haven't seen School Days, don't ever, or you might regret it like most people that aren't me do.) Anyway, it's clear Marinette is more obsessive than possessive in regards to Adrien, but I don't think she's a Yandere unfortunately. She stalks Adrien, but she hasn't wished harm toward any of her competition: Chloe (well maybe...but mostly because she's a spoiled brat rather than real competition), Lila, or any of those cuckoo fans. She also didn't start heading toward the dark side when she overheard Adrien saying she was just a friend. Plus, she now has feelings for Luka and Cat Noir too, and as far as I know, Yanderes are only monogamous; they got that one-track mind, you know? And Marinette does have inhibitions, which is why she was never able to ask Adrien out on that date. And finally, she values her superhero identity OVER being with Adrien, as shown in Frightningale. She's probably as Yandere as this family-friendly show is allowed to get, but I don't think she qualifies as Yandere. (Well, I kinda take that back. I almost positive Syren was a true Yandere for Kim. You could tell she held ill will toward Ladybug and Cat Noir when she believed they were trying to steal Kim away from her.)

Your point that the kwamis can see through to the identities of the miraculous users makes me wonder though... Do they know that Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth? Or no, because they've never actually seen Hawkmoth in his costume?
For me the thing that annoys me is how easily Ladybug's earnings can be taken off with one hand. Like there's nothing to hold them on at the back, but if that was the case, they'd be falling off whenever she runs or jumps! I'm sure it just makes animation easier, but being someone who wears earrings, it bothers me whenever it happens.

I personally think that its a mix between the bravado they possess as heros being contrasts of their usual personalities so people dont really associate Ladybug's Brave and frankly more coordinated and focused persona to Marinette because everyone knows she can tend to mix up her priorities, especially when it involves Adrien, is a bit of a Klutz, and can be easily nervous at times especially back in season one when you consider that aside from Kagami, Lila, Adrien and Alya who are all technically new kids at Francois Dupont High School, everyone knew Marinette as a bit more timid and a pushover, the same thing can be said with Cat Noir's more laid back, punny, and slightly more destructive personality not comparing well to Adrien who was brought up to be poised, proper, and well behaved by a single/widowed father who tried to estrange his son from the rest of the world. I would have also included Rena Rouge in this but we haven't had enough episodes with Alya's superheroine persona to notice a possible change in her personality. Its a mix between that and what i call, "Pretty Cure Magic" the logic in Magical kid Transformations where while other physical attribute changes, such as hairstyle/length and color, eye color, age, and possible makeup, is applied to conceal the heroes identity, the facial structure remains the same. This is more present in cat noir and rena rouge with how Adriens hair gets longer and a bit messier and the whites of his eyes become green and his pupil is more cat like, and how Alya's hair gets put up in a ponytail and becomes more orange with white tips. While Marinette's normal transformation doesnt feature physical alterations, when she transforms into Aqua Ladybug her ponytails grow out and gain pink tips

You should make a video on Cat Noir’s ring. If you noiced in the Refelcdoll episode when Marinette put on the Black Cat’s ring it didn’t look the same as when Adrian put it on. It was more like a ring a girl would wear. Maybe the FaceTime omg changes for everyone to keep the identity a secret from everyone; to put two and two together if the Cat Noir changes. And maybe the Ladybug earrings change for different owners. We just couldn’t see the earrings on Adrian because he got hit by Refcdoll’s beam. But the Cat Ring only changes when it’s in como mode.

I think it’s because they’re too different, like for example in origins Alya thinks that marinette is just scared. Even though marinette was scared she didn’t show that in ladybug form. So I think it’s because ladybug is way more confident and cat noir is more outgoing. As Adrien he is really chill. But as cat noir he is flirty and out there. Just my theory.
1: I am so sorry to be late but it's good to be back! I think that we should see a whole new charcater introduced. A boy or a girl, no one particularly special. But what I do think is that they might become a guardian of sorts, or open cracks of being a guardian. Or maybe they should just do what -I- we simply dream~Someone who actually sees through their masks. It's actually likely this could happen as of a new charcater called Mayura being introduced (Peacock villain name) their could be so yeah ^_^
It must be magic. If it wasn't then it would not make sense. Their voices and looks are almost the same when they transform. Anyone should be able to tell their identities. It would of been smarter for the writers/designers to have changed the physical looks a little so they couldn't tell who they are.

I think that most characters can’t recognise the heroes because of a form of concealment spell resulting in civilians not being able to put 2 and 2 together. However this doesn’t effect miraculous bearers allowing them to work out others identity’s. This would explain Hawkmoth working out Adrian’s identity as he is his father and would notice small things like when Adrian suddenly started wearing a ring. For ladybug and chat noir they don’t really know each other very well irl and as heroes except as classmates and as partners. I believe that Alya will be first to realise Marinette’s identity the more she uses the Fox miraculous as the concealment spell wears off on her allowing her to work this out. Hawkmoth hasn’t learned Ladybugs identity as him and her haven’t actually had much interaction at all within the series
This is a fascinating theory! It might work! But you have to remember that Alya suspected at the very beginning of the series that Adrien was Cat Noir, and I think this was before she'd ever even spoken a word to him. It was only in Frightningale when she finally let Adrien - and Marinette - off the hook, since they acted nothing like Cat Noir and Ladybug, respectively. Also, Marinette knows Adrien SUPER well as a classmate; she freaking stalks him and knows his entire schedule by heart! But I see what you're saying about how she doesn't know Cat Noir very well...but Hawkmoth doesn't know Ladybug or Cat Noir very well either. I would think if your theory was true that Marinette would have suspected that Adrien was Cat Noir before Alya did...and Mr. Agreste even before either of them. I did find it odd though how Mr. Agreste said Marinette would be ideal for Ladybug in this episode; maybe it's just his designer's eye for what fits who, but I think with his suspicions of Adrien being Cat Noir, he's probably been suspecting his son's "girlfriend" to be Ladybug, at least ever since that episode where people started posting pics online about Adrinette. It's alright! Your theory was very good, and my theory is probably gonna be debunked in some future episode, so I'd love to know what you can come up with to explain all this information! That's why I like being in fandoms; I see them as places where I can share my theories about shows I'm passionate about and have other fans review my theories for evidential accuracy. Emily Lamb well to explain all of this I believe that Concealment Spell wasn’t originally one of the miraculous’s powers and was later applied due to an incident. I believe that this incident happened in the medieval ages in possibly England revolving a female chat noir at the time. She would have used her powers to help the poor however as she could turn into a cat she was accused of being a witch and was burned alive. Because of what happened to this chat noir the guardians placed a concealment spell on the miraculous so that something like this could never happen again.
That's a very cool backstory!! I love it! I think it explains quite well why a concealment spell would ever be needed it the first place. I especially love how it ties back to history! :D
also for their voices, i think that their voices do slightly change as we have never seen LB or Chat talk in civilian form in front of each other directly, as in all the episodes they do talk own their masks off are always through a door, far away or echoed, slightly altering the voice and not making it seem like there’s a difference which also explains why in dark owl, when mari gives adrien back his miraculous, he was about to speak but tikki quickly shut his mouth, it’s possible that tikki was stopping him from speaking because she thinks their voices will be the easiest giveaway. ALSO plagg was surprised in dark owl, it shows that he was about to speak (he also had a surprised face) until tikki shut him up :)) great theory, love you

Hey at least my OC's eyes turn from turquoise to yellow and her ponytail turns into pigtails. I made it as unobvious as I could while still leaving a recognizable part of her: her two different colored ribbons that wrap around her ponytail turn into feathers of the same colors.
I love how when someone gets akumatized and their skin and hair completely change, everyone recognizes them, but when Adrien and Marinette transform with the same hair and skin, no one recognizes them.
Actually another way people can't recognise them its because of their hair. Like when Mari used another miraculous, im gonna use Multimouse as an example, when Mari use it, her hair changed into buns. Same thing with Ladynoir, Mari hair's changed into braids. Alya's hair works the same way, her hair changed into a ponytail.
I think that the fact they *thought* the masks might reveal them is because their faces are the main thing you see when you look at a person. I don't think the mask really would show anything because neither of the kwamis seemed to care about the masks, even Tikki who was the most worried about the identities being potentially revealed. I think the only thing that actually protects their identities is some kind of glamour from the Miraculous'(es?) magic or something. Great video, by the way!

I always took the power = the costume. Ie if somebody else were to wear the ladybug miraculous everyone would see them as Ladybug. Even if say it was Adrien using the ladybug earing. Meaning we'd have a boy ladybug but nobody would notice... I Also suspect fur show reasons if either of them did find out they would pretend otherwise.
The kwami part actually has another explanation that makes much more sense. We know from the origins episode that kwamis can sense each other, because the turtle (I forget his name) could tell when nooroo was found and could sense the dark power. This makes it incredibly possible that tikki and plagg could sense each other during classes and eventually deduced the bag the other was in.
I think the whole series is based off the "opposites attract" thing. So Adrien's transformation alters his appearance more than Ladybug's, while hers basically does nothing except the mask and little red hair things. Honestly I'm more surprised Alya hasn't figured them BOTH out by now,

Well if I remember correctly. Awhile back while filming a movie the actor who plays Superman would often go down to a nearby restaurant to eat while in costume. As Superman he was constantly recognized. But as Clark Kent he wasn’t. As it turns out it is a reality that superhero costumes can hide their identity. It may just be that they just look so normal that people just can’t see them as a superhero.

I think it's because no one expected the real Ladybug to show up to audition as Ladybug. Also, Adrien easily identified his childhood best friend, revealing her identity to everyone. However, Jagged Stone and the interviewers didn't know Chloe very well at all, so they hoped she was the real Ladybug coming to interview.

I was actually writing out my theory for the video (so I don’t stumble over my words) and I actually re thought of how the kwamiis affect Marinette and Adrien. There are some personality traits that as normal people these two don’t have. For example Ladybug’s more calm and collected attitude and Cat Noir’s mannerisms and facial expressions when he talks. Also when either of them talk you can kind of hear Tiki and Plagg’s tone of voice. Maybe the kwamiis have some sort of trick of the eyes to an outsider to keep their identities a secret. Now that I think about it this theory could answer all the questions about the show. Except maybe Hawk Moths secret basement haha. 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Yes, I believe you're right! My theory on why they can't be recognized is very much like yours. I don't think it has anything to do with the masks; I'm pretty sure Adrien and Marinette were just overreacting...or at least Adrien was. Plagg was so confident Adrien wouldn't be recognized. Why? Because Cat Noir's eyes are completely green, and his hair is messier. However, Tikki was concerned about Marinette being recognized, but she made no comment when Marinette was concerned about the mask. I mean, Marinette would basically look exactly like Ladybug with the mask on since nothing else changes, so I suppose it could go either way with Marinette...but still, because she's so clumsy and unsure of herself as Marinette, people would still be blind since they think like Alya thinks: "Even though they kinda look like Ladybug and Cat Noir, they really weren't believeable". Actually, there was some kind of explanation there. The disguise has more to do with mentality. The behavior of Clark and Superman are so different people don't draw the comparison. And the fact Superman is so obvious in his hero form, not wearing any mask nor trying to hide, that people don't even think he has a secret identity.
It may be the same here. Meek and clumsy Marinette don't match with acrobatic and leaderly Ladybug. Polite and gentleman Adrien does not match with Flirty and chaotic Chat. All resemblance is written off as a coincidence.

It doesnt make sense to say that the kwamis can see through their identifies because if that was the case it would be easy for Hawk Moth to find out their real identities. I think the theory of giving the kwamis precognition of their holder makes more sense.

In the nyc special, Uncanny says that their miraculous has quantum masking which means human minds can’t see who it is by just looking at the heroes. Computers and robots can detect them though because they weren’t designed for that

People's inability to recognise LB and Chat reminds me a lot of how the same thing happens in Sailor Moon and other magical girl anime. A lot of the time, magical girls look almost the same when transformed, especially in Sailor Moon. Like, Usagi's hairstyle is extremely unique and when she transforms she only gets a couple hair accessories and her hairstyle is otherwise unchanged. On top of no one being able to recognize her as Sailor Moon, it is also a long time before she is recognized as the moon princess and later as Neo Queen Serenity even though her hairstyle is still the exact same. This has bothered me since I was 5 lol. I still have no answers other than must be magic or people are really just that blind.
I have a simple explanation on why Adrien doesn’t think Marinette is Ladybug. In Timebreaker Ladybug goes back in time and Adrien sees Ladybug and Marinette at the same time.

I always believed the cause to be a perception filter brought about by glimmer magic. Glimmers are referenced in multiple fictional universes, such as 'Fables', as an enchantment that conceals identities. The perception filter comes about from Doctor Who, where the large and obviously out of place blue phone box is ignored by pedestrians unless being intently looked for by those familiar with the technology.
Combined with the unrealistic expectations of: Clumsy flustered Marinette and world renowned model Adrien being superheroes, it falls to reason that no matter how obvious the explanation, most people prefer to work out conspiracies by ignoring the glaringly obvious and determining the explanation to a more convoluted plausibility. People want to determine their own minds whats likely answer, so will reject anything that does not seem to fit this ideology.
These three elements combined make for a secret identity that is dramatically ironic for the audience for comedic effect, as we laugh at the absurdity of the other characters obliviousness.

To me Mari has no physical changes when transforming. As opposed to Adrian who hair and eyes changes. His behavior as Cat Noir is so drastically different from his behavior as Adrian that it be more buyable that people don’t connect the two.
Also, people have photoshopped a Cat Noir pic on Adrian and he doesn’t look like he normally does as Cat Noir. It looked like Adrian cosplaying or something.
Which is why it always bothered me that Alya can make the connections of Adrian to Cat Noir, but not Mari to Ladybug when she looks exactly the same.

I think that kwami's can sense each other's presence as told by Wayzz(?) In the origin episode where he states that he could feel Nooroo or some evil force, in the Syren Adrien tries bribing Plagg to tell him what he knows about LB's identity or what Plagg knows that LB isn't telling him. I think kwamis can communicate via telephay... ok so I mean if they are close enough to each other (space not relationsnips) so I predict that Tikki and Plagg have been keeping in touch, they aren't sure wether to tell Marinette and Adrien their Identities just yet, I suspect they will for the season finale... I believe there is a small concealment spell due to some tragic accident etc; etc; that only allows bystanders to guess who they are (like you and Alya said They look like LB and CN but they don't act like them) I'm suspecting not ALL the civilians are as dense as Adrien towards LB's identity but the Miraculous (or a kwami influence) causes a slight personality change to how Marinette and Adrien wish they were like! I also think Max (AKA the Gamer) knows the identities of LB and CN but he wants to keep it under wraps and start to doubt his own theory a little while after figuring it out.

Okay, Marinette is OBSESSED with Adrien, and a Yandere doesn't require murder, BUT it does require that Marinette be willing to do ANYTHING for the object of her desire. Actually, there are two types of Yanderes: possessive and obsessive. Most Yanderes are obsessive (they will stop at nothing to please their special one, be in a relationship with their special one, etc., even if that means killing the competition or killing themselves), but the possessive ones simply see their special one as an object to be owned, dead or alive. (If you've ever seen the School Days anime, compare Kotonoha in the last episode with Yuno Gasai as possessive vs obsessive respectively. But if you haven't seen School Days, don't ever, or you might regret it like most people that aren't me do.)
Anyway, it's clear Marinette is more obsessive than possessive in regards to Adrien, but I don't think she's a Yandere unfortunately. She stalks Adrien, but she hasn't wished harm toward any of her competition: Chloe (well maybe...but mostly because she's a spoiled brat rather than real competition), Lila, or any of those cuckoo fans. She also didn't start heading toward the dark side when she overheard Adrien saying she was just a friend. Plus, she now has feelings for Luka and Cat Noir too, and as far as I know, Yanderes are only monogamous; they got that one-track mind, you know? And Marinette does have inhibitions, which is why she was never able to ask Adrien out on that date. And finally, she values her superhero identity OVER being with Adrien, as shown in Frightningale. She's probably as Yandere as this family-friendly show is allowed to get, but I don't think she qualifies as Yandere.
(Well, I kinda take that back. I almost positive Syren was a true Yandere for Kim. You could tell she held ill will toward Ladybug and Cat Noir when she believed they were trying to steal Kim away from her.)

For me the thing that annoys me is how easily Ladybug's earnings can be taken off with one hand. Like there's nothing to hold them on at the back, but if that was the case, they'd be falling off whenever she runs or jumps! I'm sure it just makes animation easier, but being someone who wears earrings, it bothers me whenever it happens.

I personally think that its a mix between the bravado they possess as heros being contrasts of their usual personalities so people dont really associate Ladybug's Brave and frankly more coordinated and focused persona to Marinette because everyone knows she can tend to mix up her priorities, especially when it involves Adrien, is a bit of a Klutz, and can be easily nervous at times especially back in season one when you consider that aside from Kagami, Lila, Adrien and Alya who are all technically new kids at Francois Dupont High School, everyone knew Marinette as a bit more timid and a pushover, the same thing can be said with Cat Noir's more laid back, punny, and slightly more destructive personality not comparing well to Adrien who was brought up to be poised, proper, and well behaved by a single/widowed father who tried to estrange his son from the rest of the world. I would have also included Rena Rouge in this but we haven't had enough episodes with Alya's superheroine persona to notice a possible change in her personality.
Its a mix between that and what i call, "Pretty Cure Magic" the logic in Magical kid Transformations where while other physical attribute changes, such as hairstyle/length and color, eye color, age, and possible makeup, is applied to conceal the heroes identity, the facial structure remains the same. This is more present in cat noir and rena rouge with how Adriens hair gets longer and a bit messier and the whites of his eyes become green and his pupil is more cat like, and how Alya's hair gets put up in a ponytail and becomes more orange with white tips. While Marinette's normal transformation doesnt feature physical alterations, when she transforms into Aqua Ladybug her ponytails grow out and gain pink tips

You should make a video on Cat Noir’s ring. If you noiced in the Refelcdoll episode when Marinette put on the Black Cat’s ring it didn’t look the same as when Adrian put it on. It was more like a ring a girl would wear. Maybe the FaceTime omg changes for everyone to keep the identity a secret from everyone; to put two and two together if the Cat Noir changes. And maybe the Ladybug earrings change for different owners. We just couldn’t see the earrings on Adrian because he got hit by Refcdoll’s beam. But the Cat Ring only changes when it’s in como mode.

I think it’s because they’re too different, like for example in origins Alya thinks that marinette is just scared. Even though marinette was scared she didn’t show that in ladybug form. So I think it’s because ladybug is way more confident and cat noir is more outgoing. As Adrien he is really chill. But as cat noir he is flirty and out there. Just my theory.

I think that most characters can’t recognise the heroes because of a form of concealment spell resulting in civilians not being able to put 2 and 2 together. However this doesn’t effect miraculous bearers allowing them to work out others identity’s. This would explain Hawkmoth working out Adrian’s identity as he is his father and would notice small things like when Adrian suddenly started wearing a ring. For ladybug and chat noir they don’t really know each other very well irl and as heroes except as classmates and as partners. I believe that Alya will be first to realise Marinette’s identity the more she uses the Fox miraculous as the concealment spell wears off on her allowing her to work this out. Hawkmoth hasn’t learned Ladybugs identity as him and her haven’t actually had much interaction at all within the series
This is a fascinating theory! It might work! But you have to remember that Alya suspected at the very beginning of the series that Adrien was Cat Noir, and I think this was before she'd ever even spoken a word to him. It was only in Frightningale when she finally let Adrien - and Marinette - off the hook, since they acted nothing like Cat Noir and Ladybug, respectively. Also, Marinette knows Adrien SUPER well as a classmate; she freaking stalks him and knows his entire schedule by heart! But I see what you're saying about how she doesn't know Cat Noir very well...but Hawkmoth doesn't know Ladybug or Cat Noir very well either. I would think if your theory was true that Marinette would have suspected that Adrien was Cat Noir before Alya did...and Mr. Agreste even before either of them. I did find it odd though how Mr. Agreste said Marinette would be ideal for Ladybug in this episode; maybe it's just his designer's eye for what fits who, but I think with his suspicions of Adrien being Cat Noir, he's probably been suspecting his son's "girlfriend" to be Ladybug, at least ever since that episode where people started posting pics online about Adrinette.
My theory on why they can't be recognized is similar to your theory in some ways. I don't think it has anything to do with the masks; I'm pretty sure Adrien and Marinette were just overreacting...or at least Adrien was. Plagg was so confident Adrien wouldn't be recognized. Why? Because Cat Noir's eyes are completely green, and his hair is messier. However, Tikki was concerned about Marinette being recognized, but she made no comment when Marinette was concerned about the mask. I mean, Marinette would basically look exactly like Ladybug with the mask on since nothing else changes, so I suppose it could go either way with Marinette...but still, because she's so clumsy and unsure of herself as Marinette, people would still be blind since they think like Alya thinks: "Even though they kinda look like Ladybug and Cat Noir, they really weren't believeable". It's alright! Your theory was very good, and my theory is probably gonna be debunked in some future episode, so I'd love to know what you can come up with to explain all this information! That's why I like being in fandoms; I see them as places where I can share my theories about shows I'm passionate about and have other fans review my theories for evidential accuracy. Emily Lamb well to explain all of this I believe that Concealment Spell wasn’t originally one of the miraculous’s powers and was later applied due to an incident. I believe that this incident happened in the medieval ages in possibly England revolving a female chat noir at the time. She would have used her powers to help the poor however as she could turn into a cat she was accused of being a witch and was burned alive. Because of what happened to this chat noir the guardians placed a concealment spell on the miraculous so that something like this could never happen again.
That's a very cool backstory!! I love it! I think it explains quite well why a concealment spell would ever be needed it the first place. I especially love how it ties back to history! :D
also for their voices, i think that their voices do slightly change as we have never seen LB or Chat talk in civilian form in front of each other directly, as in all the episodes they do talk own their masks off are always through a door, far away or echoed, slightly altering the voice and not making it seem like there’s a difference
which also explains why in dark owl, when mari gives adrien back his miraculous, he was about to speak but tikki quickly shut his mouth, it’s possible that tikki was stopping him from speaking because she thinks their voices will be the easiest giveaway.
ALSO plagg was surprised in dark owl, it shows that he was about to speak (he also had a surprised face) until tikki shut him up :))

One thing I don’t get: in the collector we see they have camaras and I think adrien does not notice that if he transforms into chat he does not think that his father will check the camaras and I don’t get it at all

I love how when someone gets akumatized and their skin and hair completely change, everyone recognizes them, but when Adrien and Marinette transform with the same hair and skin, no one recognizes them.

Actually another way people can't recognise them its because of their hair.
Like when Mari used another miraculous, im gonna use Multimouse as an example, when Mari use it, her hair changed into buns. Same thing with Ladynoir, Mari hair's changed into braids. Alya's hair works the same way, her hair changed into a ponytail.
I think that the fact they *thought* the masks might reveal them is because their faces are the main thing you see when you look at a person. I don't think the mask really would show anything because neither of the kwamis seemed to care about the masks, even Tikki who was the most worried about the identities being potentially revealed.
I think the only thing that actually protects their identities is some kind of glamour from the Miraculous'(es?) magic or something. Great video, by the way!

I always took the power = the costume. Ie if somebody else were to wear the ladybug miraculous everyone would see them as Ladybug. Even if say it was Adrien using the ladybug earing. Meaning we'd have a boy ladybug but nobody would notice... I Also suspect fur show reasons if either of them did find out they would pretend otherwise.
The kwami part actually has another explanation that makes much more sense.
We know from the origins episode that kwamis can sense each other, because the turtle (I forget his name) could tell when nooroo was found and could sense the dark power. This makes it incredibly possible that tikki and plagg could sense each other during classes and eventually deduced the bag the other was in.

I think the whole series is based off the "opposites attract" thing. So Adrien's transformation alters his appearance more than Ladybug's, while hers basically does nothing except the mask and little red hair things. Honestly I'm more surprised Alya hasn't figured them BOTH out by now,

Well if I remember correctly. Awhile back while filming a movie the actor who plays Superman would often go down to a nearby restaurant to eat while in costume. As Superman he was constantly recognized. But as Clark Kent he wasn’t. As it turns out it is a reality that superhero costumes can hide their identity. It may just be that they just look so normal that people just can’t see them as a superhero.

I ignore the fact that no one recognizes the heroes in the masks. A pair of glasses is enough to completely disguise Superman. That's just the convention.
It's like how nobody takes advantage of a magical girl's transformation sequence to launch an attack.
