On "My Car Story" we're in the Western Suburbs of Chicago IL on 5-21-24.
We're looking at a 1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible in Spice Gold Paint.
The car comes with the 383 CI V8 engine and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Paul Habura. Paul’s had this car since 2005. Paul shares he had one like this back as his first car and saw this one in the paper and found out it was the exact color of his old one. This one’s a survivor with 109K miles on it and it rides down the road like floating on a cloud.
    ENJOY!

We had a 4 door '66 Newport in dark metallic green with a 383 when I was a kid. My dad had been a Buick guy but decided to try a Chrysler and fell in love with that car. He kept it for 20 years and took great care of it. It ran so smooth my mom would think that the engine had died when we would come to a stoplight. I always loved that body style in a convertible...such a big flat slab of a car that just looks great with the top down. Thanks, Lou!

Thanks… me , too.. except a **1966 GALAXIE 500 XL/4 speed/352/4 BBL/ Burgandy (bargain , low mikes, found, in early 1967)deluxe Interiors: unfortunately not the 7 LITRE/ or Disc Brakes,etc:: had to upgrade it quickly, & easily ::Metallic Brakes, Tires/Shocks/Engine stuff…. Anyways, oddly, kind of a FAVORITE Vehicle for driving, Working on .. Incidentally, JAY LENO Dad got one of these, *& JAY rebuilt the 1966…….

Your father doesn’t surprise me. I was in sixth grade when that 1966 Newport came out. It was so beautiful and yet so different from GM and Ford products, just like this convertible.

Wow, Lou, that owner has himself a really nice vehicle. How many of those do you see today? That is a really impressively sized car - it must be over 19 feet long. Gives meaning to the term "land yacht"!
The wheel covers, although they are intended for a 300, gives the car sort of a custom look. If they're not correct, so what? The owner is quite happy; he can do whatever he wants.
I would like to see you go for a ride in that car, Lou, and I'm sure you'll get one! I can hear that song "Love Shack" by the B-52's, in which you hear the words "Hop in my Chrysler, it's as big as a whale . . ." Not quite _that_ big, but it's big enough for the highway!
Thanks again, Lou! You always outdo yourself with these videos!

The top looked on the car when it was up and down, and I like to look at the top when was up to more so than the other way I had a Camaro convertible and I felt the same way about it. I didn’t like the looks of it near as wellwhen the top was down as I did when it was up, I thought it looked better. That was a 2010 and I thought it was funny that you made the same reservation.😮❤

Outside of being the entry-level Chrysler, i believe reading in Consumer Reports, they stated that the Newport model wasn't needed. I remember that the Newport cost about $1k more than a Plymouth VIP with every available option. If you had to have a Chrysler, you'd be better off buying a New Yorker.
This is a cool convertible and that is probably the reason that it didn't follow it's siblings to the junk yard.

Cool! To me it looks way better than what is made today. All cars today seem to look alike, like they all are trying to look like a Toyota. Nothing against Toyota, but not every car should look alike, that's just not right at all.

It was. The reason I clicked on the video is bc it looked like my grandfather's 1967 New Yorker 4-door sedan. Imperial was the only one higher. Surprised to hear the error.

This car is in really good shape for a survivor. These questions were not asked. What engine does it have and is it a two or four barrel carb. How and where did he find it? Was this a car he was looking for? How long has he owned it? Does he drive it regularly and does he attend cruise ins?
The top and rear window are in awesome shape. It must have been replaced. Does he know when that was done or did he have it done after he purchased it? The top went down so fast which makes me think the motor and other parts of the power roof must have been replaced or rebuilt at some point.

Oh Bill.... read the description......"The car comes with the 383 CI V8 engine and an automatic transmission. The car's Owner is Paul Habura. Paul’s had this car since 2005." Please share a few videos so my audience can slice them up like a loaf of bread!
