I always have to check in with your review before I start a new series so I know if it's worth my time. I was looking forward to this one, glad to hear you liked it!
There is no way in this world that a Captain would let a hijacker in the cockpit even if they have a loved one hostage, he's only signing his own death warrant along with 200 other lives. However if you can get over the fact that the Captain allowed hijackers into the cockpit it's quite a gripping series.
Also the pilot did not report the hijacking in the first place nor set his transponder code to declare it. The only person to get a text out also was extremely vague in the only text he could send. TL;Dr the whole plot would derail if anyone actually said the name of the show.
Just binged this show and I had several moments where I had to get up and walk around my bedroom haha it was INTENSE! But soooo good. Agreed that the ending felt abrupt but I’ll forgive it bc everything else had me on the edge of my seat. Also found a few actors outside of Elba to start following - I hope to see several in other roles (once the strike is resolved)
In episode 2 we hear the song “When Will I See You Again” twice. It is sung by the Three Degrees, which happens to be the title of the episode: 3 Degrees!

I was bothered by how much the guy in charge let Sam get involved, speak, and drive his decisions. Very unprofessional hijackers. I don’t believe for a minute they had the brains to put the hijacking in place.
They were not real hijackers with some mind boggling motives. They were normal people put into a situation to hijack the plane. Knowing Sam was a professional negotiator. It was kinda okay for him to influence their decisions.
What happenned to the First Officer?? I didnt see her at all during the last episode and i feel like the writers forgot to kill her off to ensure a dramatic landing without proper pilots
Be advise if you dislike characters being incompetent only when the plot demands them to be then avoid this show as the first episode alone will drive you crazy

Just finished it, can't complain about anything at all to be honest, the "loose ends" and motivations you mention I thought were all adequately covered by the end of it.
This serie is full of errors. Simple things that could be fixed if the directors did some research before making this serie. - An airplane gets no clearance for takeoff if it has to taxi first. "You are cleared for departure runway 30 right " while it still hangs on the passenger bridge. -A simple way to let ATC know that the airplane is hijacked is not 3 degrees deviation... there are standard rules for that. This sounds like a joke. -The transponder of an airplane identifies the plane with heading, callsign and altitude. If I pilot sets the transponder code to 7500 ,ATC will know the airplane is hijacked. So 7500 is the international code for a hijack. In episode 2 the pilot calls on the radio "we are sqaking 4625", he could easily say "sqaking 7500" and the fighter jets would be in the air. These are simple straight forward things that would make the series more realistic.
Nice insight on the little things we dont know, however... why would you ask for jet fighters? The only reason for them to be there is to take the down the plane. Its a no-no for me if im in it.

A fun binge. Wasn't there a girl in the first episode who found the protons? In regards to her relationship with one of the Hihackers, why were they interrogated if nothing came of it later? To fill time. My ideal example of a show that could have been a 90-minute film.
Honestly, the fact that we dont know why they hijacked it is fine by me! Just adds to the mistery. My 2 cents >I think this is not your average terrorist plot - all the baddies we've seen are 99% caucasian and speak British English, including the cleaners, and just too well organized!! False flag op maybe? Also I feel there are more hijackers, or at least 1 more that is not revealed. This is based on the conversation the 2 hijackers had in the beginning with one of them waiting to hear from the back. My $$$ is on the guy that was late ... he was too comfortable when he yelled at the hijacker to cease rough handling the passenger... This is one great show with Idris Elba's character kinda being like a puppetmaster honestly, with the baddies on strings without realizing it! PS: If the baddies are environmentalists I will be dissapointted. They could have just thrown a can of soup at the airplane and be done with it!
Late to the party, just finished. If I hadn’t committed to watching with a friend I would have stopped after 1st few episodes. So poorly written. Sad, because cast was excellent and great production. Who’s going to risk their life for a window shade? Who was the lady killed and who was the woman who took over? Great chance to have highlighted them before. I must have seen them but didn’t notice. The lady with the red glasses and severe haircut stood out, but she didn’t do anything, except she was lonely. I was so surprised Chris at your review.
This is soooo good!I think there are way more passengers that are in on it. I believe there are 2 different groups of hijacker’s who do not know each other but the main guy who switched the bullets. The guy who brought the guns on just quiet & Mia, the bullet found it he bathroom… the writers did there thing- finally a true mystery & suspense. Great writers and great actors
ThVe viewers of this series are at the mercy of the writers who frequently intentionally redirect the story for dramatic effect. The series is filled with technical inaccuracies from medical procedures, airline safety procedures, and anti-terrorist military tactics. The woman who ultimately locks herself in the cockpit and threatens to crash the plane, kills the pilot for no explained reason, but then is released with no charges. This was frustrating and unpleasant to watch.
Surely you don’t think she’d be allowed to walk away scot-free after killing somebody? Even under duress, she’d still be arrested (which she was, she was led away at the end.)
A very gripping series, of course one must suspend some disbelief but it’s entertainment not a documentary. Admit it: you searched your mind as to which passenger was shot and then when finally shown, slapped your forehead figuratively.
I'm so confused by some of the comments on here about this show being bad because they didn't give the right code for a real hijacked plane, or other things that doesn't happen on a real plane. No where did the shown claim , " based on true events", we don't even demand that's of shows with that label be authentic, why are we demanding that of this very fictional but very entertaining show? You are right that it’s a tense thriller, but you forgot to say that the writing is very stupid. The problem is not only the unresolved motivations, but almost everyone’s behavior, from pilots to hijackers, it’s just poor, lazy writing. The writers know they can get away with it because people don’t like to think much.
Watchable but Woke. Very amateur plot line. People in charge of combating the incident were rather incompetent. Sadly our real life Politicians are also a waste of space. So many security and safety protocols were ignored. Got a bit daft in the end. I would give this a 6/10 as there as some good stuff. 🤔🤔
