- At Charlottevilles John Paul Jones Area...announcer got hit by a monster truck...befroe the rally even really had a chance to start! Pay attention to the top left side of screen!

people dont realize that when you're in the truck, you're 12 feet high with the tires and rollcage blocking your view. it's hard to see.

Exactly the driver can barely see the ground yet the driver stopped and shutted off the truck after noticing what had happened

Do you all know that this same guy driving the truck, killed a teenage boy in 1997? The driver's name is Greg Winchenbach, he used to drive a truck named Radioactive. June 6th, 1997 he lost control of Radioactive, hit a fence, flew into the air, and landed on my 14 year old brother, killing him. I don't know how this guy can even keep driving!

Im sorry for your loss but there is nothing you can do if you lose control of your truck and both of those were accidents
Once is a tradegy, twice is unforgivable, hope this guy made a full recovery and that proceedures are now in place at these events to stop anyone else being hit like that again !!!!

I really hope this guy is okay. People should be OFF the track once the monster trucks start their motors. They're putting themselves at risk by being that close, because due to how high up the drivers are once they get inside the vehicle, they can't see below them, so they could run over someone and not realize it. There has to be more safety measures taken, not just for the fans, but for the people on the track etc.

@@tarragoni4161 I've been to many monster truck events growing up, when you're inside a closed stadium/arena it doesn't matter where you're at, these loud 500+ Cubic Inch Big Blocks sound the same from 100 yards away from 5 feet away. That's why now Monster Jam requires all trucks to have mufflers to help lessen the loudness of the trucks. 1300hp is a lot of loud for a closed Stadium/Arena, plus unmuffled exhaust isn't good on young fans ear drums.
@@shushyshushy6762 I don't think your correct because sometimes in the events they have it so you can ride in a monster truck and they just drive around a little bit, but I go on that ride everytime they have it and one time the driver accidently pushed the gas pedal too much and I remember it being alot louder than just being in the stadium

He even stated as such when Mikey Vatters (Driver of Overkill Evolution, Son of Mike Vatters the driver of Black Stallion) was talking to Matt from Demo Ranch when he was giving Matt a tour of the truck.

Why did'nt somebody activate the remote ignition interrupter? All monster truck are required to be fitted with RII's and there are tested every time the truck is fired up. Any of the safety marshals could have shut down that truck before it reached the announcer. Obviously no body was paying attention.
As for the driver, he was standing in the drivers blind spot.
I dont think any other monster truck promoters use an RII

yea it was his hat. You can tell because when the tire first hits him we can see it fly off his head as he falls but you never know that could be his head that flew off as his body got crushed like a tube of toothpaste.
