I went to see Reba a few years back...I waited the whole concert for "Fancy". She did so many songs then she said goodbye and was gone....we kept clapping....kept yelling...all the sudden the stage was black and a spot light came on...there was Reba standing on the stage in her red glittery red slit up the side dancing dress....she started singing "Fancy"..it gave me chills!!

Coreen I saw Reba several years ago and she did something similar. She came on stage wearing the fur coat and started to sing Fancy. Part way through the song she pulled the coat off and she was wearing that red dress! Oh man it was amazing! Love her!

Happens every day somewhere..I can still remember the day, 67 years ago, when I and my mother were on our 4th or 5th day without food..Everyone slammed doors or just told us to leave. A woman gave us 2 slices of bread. My father died in a logging accident and we were trying to walk from the edge of, what is today, the Danial Boone National Forrest to Lexington Ky to find relatives. We laid down in an apple orchard by Nicholasville, ky I think it was. I was 6. My mother never woke up the next morning. I just sat next to her and waited. It was a long time before a car stopped and found us... I was brought to a horrible institution in Frankfort, Ky, but I have no idea what happened to my mother.I can sooooo relate to this song.. A long 12 years after that...

What a terrible thing to go through and how incredibly sad that you lost your mother the way you did. And your father was evidently killed in an accident on the job and his employers just turned you and your mother out to starve to death? That employer has a lot to answer for in the hereafter. As the widow and orphan of a man who was killed in his employ, that monster should have seen to it that you and your mother were provided for and instead he just turned you out. See, I have never been sure that there is a hell but then I see someone who clearly deserves to be there. Your story breaks my heart. I cannot stand to even think of a little girl sitting beside the body of her dead mother waiting for she knows not what.... I'm assuming the "horrible institution" you refer to was some sort of children's home and it is a serious indictment of all of us that a place designated for children who are orphans should be a "horrible institution". Why can't loving, compassionate, nurturing people work in those places? I hope your life has treated you much better since that horrible start and that you have managed to find happiness.

As one of 8 children and coming from I suppose you could call, a poorer family, I know my mum would have done anything to protect us kids so I find this very difficult to comprehend. This is a heartbreaking story sung/ told brilliantly by Reba McEntire. Ms. Reba McIntire had many hit songs.
In case you're not aware, in 1991, after a performance in San Diego, Ca, one of the two airplanes carrying Reba's band crashed, killing eight band members. Reba, her husband and hair stylist had been scheduled to leave the next day. Dolly Parton offered to lend Reba her band, since Dolly wasn't on tour at the time.

I used to sing this for my mom when I was a teenager (Reba is one of my music idols). When it would get to the part where she says "And I shivered as I watched a roach crawl across the toe of my high heel shoe", my dad and brother would inevitably chime in as if they were the backup singers and sing "yes it crawled!"...they knew I would laugh and mess up the song 😂

I’ve seen some sad things, some really sad things. I don’t cry a lot. But when I listen to this song, my eyes swell with tears and and I feel rage and anger when I see that black car coming down that road. It’s one of the most powerful music videos ever made because you know that has really happened to so many innocent young women because of the poverty we’ve had to face. Reba is a force of nature. Thanks for your reaction! Since you already knew her as an actress on the show 'Reba' (which I still watch in reruns on a regular basis, great sitcom!) it only makes sense for her to flesh out the Bobbie Gentry song with a movie-like video. It explains much for those who might not have understood the lyrics from the video of Gentry singing it on stage wearing a fancy red jumpsuit. A red jumpsuit which, BTW, Reba also winds up wearing when she performs this live. She starts out in a fur coat, then a red dress, then releases some tabs on the dress, takes it off and shakes her legs and she's wearing a red sparkly jumpsuit. Homage to Bobbie Gentry's version, no doubt. Reba is a class act with a fantastic voice. :)

Reba always seemed to keep her music real and relevant. She has had so many great hits over the years. One I haven't noticed mentioned is 'Is there life out there?' And 'I'm a survivor'. You really can't go wrong with Reba. Also she is Mother in law to Kelly Clarkson. Thank you.

I don’t think any music can tell a story quite like old school country music. They transport you to a new world and submerse you quickly. Reba, Dolly, Shania, Garth, Toby. All amazing musicians /story tellers

Check out " For My Broken Heart" In 1991 Reba's plane crashed, she was not on the plane because she was sick, and was taking another flight, her entire band was on the plane, they all died. this song, the Album is for her Band.

LOOOOOVE Reba!!! Reba's music always tells a story, and boy does she deliver. In my mind she has knocked down doors, and shattered glass ceilings to help the women of country music. She has a song called She thinks his name was John. It tells a story about aids during a time when people were scared to talk about it, so she decided lets sing about it.

In the 90's Reba made a lot of controversial song. She really really made you think about thing that most people looked down on. This song, The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia and She Thinks His Name Was John are just a few. She broke down so many barriers and to this day is the best country music vocalist of all time in my opinion

I’ve heard this song many times through the years, mostly Reba’s version. Listened to the original yesterday, loved it! Not sure if I had heard it previously. Stumbled upon your reactions, watched both of them, loved them! Just a quick note, i don’t think you caught the lyric “your pa’s runned off, and I’m real sick, and the baby’s gonna starve to death“. Thank you so much for both your reactions. It was an interesting way to immerse myself in the story. Reba’s video had me crying throughout. 😭

I absolutely love Reba, and most all her music, and especially the older stuff. She always does a great job at telling stories. I could go on for days telling you how great her music is, and she has so many great ones you should check out, but the one I would like for you to react to the most is The Christmas Guest done by her. So powerful, and lovely, but have tissues on hand, cuz it's a crying song, but in a good way. The older ones of hers are way to plentiful for me to just pick a couple of them, so check out all of them please.
