Let's take a look at these Craftsman, Made in the USA black oxide (A.K.A. 'Industrial Finish') metric and standard wrench sets. These are all brand new older stock (NOS) that have never been used that I picked up from eBay. The wrenches I acquired are in the following sizes for metric: 10mm - 19mm, and the standard set is from 3/8" to 1". These sold in the late 2000's to 2015 roughly from Sears with the Craftsman or Craftsman Industrial branding, so seeing a set in this great of condition is getting more rare!
As a bonus I discuss how I clean these black oxide tools showing 2 different methods to keep the wrenches in top shape.

You are soon going to have the Guinness World Record of having the most Craftsman tools owned by one man, lol. I like the holder for the wrenches that is pretty neat.

Haha yeah I for sure have a good amount! It would have been so much easier if Sears still sold these still. Yeah I like that wrench holder. Thanks for watching Rita!

I’ve been a mechanic for almost 20 years my first wrench set was craftsman. I hated using them. Not a comfortable wrench to use at all. But lately I have been watching videos on them and I am glad I still have them. But I’m gonna use my snapon flank drives when I want to get a job done. If I find a set of these black ones I’m gonna buy them

Cool looking wrench set and thanks for the background info. If I get a chance at those for a reasonable price i'll go for them.

Keep an eye on eBay they do pop up from time to time. Seemed like 5 years ago they were readily available but not as much these days. Interestingly, I was at Ace Hardware on Black Friday and there were a set of black oxide Crescent brand wrenches that were super nice and much cheaper. If you ever just want a set of black wrenches there are other decent sets if the Craftsman ones don't come around. Thanks for watching!

My vA craftsman wrenches seem to be the nicest looking I cherish them.

Ive used white lithium grease. Works great on black pry bars. Buff in a light coat with fine steel wool and wipe with a rag. Kept from rusting.

That's a really great suggestion, I'll have to try that sometime as well 🛠️

I live on Long Island NY and I used to browse the tool department at my local SEARS frequently. In 2010 I was in the Clearwater mall and decided to check out the SEARS there. They had these wrenches on the shelf. I never saw these in NY so when I asked the clerk he told me not all SEARS sell them. I wish I would have bought a set back then to bring back to NY with me.

That's some great background information thank you. Yeah as I mentioned I had seen them too but they seemed redundant back in the day as I already had a wrench set. Now they will probably be my main rough use set and polished for softer scenarios where they don't get all banged up.

Great thorough video Eclectic Handyman! I thought you were going to say a third reason that the black oxide is liked would be they don’t show all the greasy fingerprints so much 😂 Thanks for sharing and be well and safe 🤗

Haha yeah well after I put that 3 in 1 oil on them my hands were a little slick until I wiped off the excess. Thanks for watching AZ!! 🛠️😊

What happens to the inside surfaces of the box and open ends where they wear?
I assume you get a bear metal surface which can rust?

That's a great question but I haven't used them enough to know for certain. The black oxide is really tough so I think they will hold up. Think about impact sockets as they have the same process done. They get abused and typically hold up well.
