    Randy Strossen thank you so much for that explanation at 649, "It's the bones that support the weight.........."eyc. We students of the game watch and listen, watch and listen hoping for that little enlightening gem that makes a concept clear. Keep up the good work. One good sentence can stick in a lifters mind and give them a clear vision for the rest of their career.

    Just recover and keep working at it. It takes years of work, but you can get there.

    The lockouts in clean and jerk are amazingly solid compared to the past when we had the press and arms would buckle.
    The standards in the past and near past are so high.
    It was back in 1976 that Alexeev did 562 but wanted to take 574 in Olympics and weights just haven't moved up very fast nevertheless snatching over 400 lbs was just dreamed about in past.

    well i don't necessarily have an argument prepared, but i'll just give something short. a lot of times, the way these competitions are scored is by taking the max weight lifted and dividing it by the body weight of the person who lifted it. for smaller guys, it is easier to get into the 2s and 3s because they have to lift a lot less to get it, but for the bigger guys they have to train really hard to be able to compete with the smaller guys in their weight class. thats pretty much what i mean

    @MrJoffe95 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    you are talking about the sinclaire point scale ;) i know very well what you mean, but when u weigh 106 kg or 250kg u get the same amount of points because you only get 1 point per kg when you are lifting in the 105+ no matter how much more than 105 u weigh ! :) i get about 1.3 points per kg i lift because of my low bodyweight.
    but that doesn't really have anything to do with the amount they train

    I have a question, have you seen this plan called the MegaMax Muscle Maker? (google it). My coworker says it helps most people get buff.

  • @VanHalensApprentice
    @VanHalensApprentice 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is all about strength. You gain strength by eating a lot of fat, carbs, and other things like that. When some one starts a diet, they feel out of energy because they don't have as much strength and energy. Haven't you noticed that when you eat certain types of food you feel full of energy and feel like you have alot of strength?

  • @Liftm0re
    @Liftm0re 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not out of shape. Stronger than you will ever be, faster than you will ever be (yes that's right, I bet every one of these guys could beat you in a sprint, judging by the massive amount of fast twitch muscle fiber they have)..will jump higher than you will ever jump, and have actually accomplished something besides "looking good in a mirror."

  • @VanHalensApprentice

    I'm talking about the olympic competitions. Lifting weights to stay fit is perfectly healthy, but its not the number one factor that determines your health.

  • @PantheraOnca60
    @PantheraOnca60 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    We used in for the same reason in powerlifting competitions.

  • @MrJoffe95
    @MrJoffe95 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    weightlifters compete in clean and jerk and the snatch, powerlifters do compete in deadlift, squat and benchpress.
    weightlifters need brute strength, speed and technique.
    powerlifters only need brute strength :) of course there is alot of tecnique there too but it's not as complicated to do a squat/deadlift/benchpress as it is to do a snatch or a clean and jerk.

  • @NewYorkBattleCat
    @NewYorkBattleCat 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is irrelevant in my opinion, I guess their flexibility would improve, but the muscle is still there and its tight as fuck! Powerlifters and olympic lifters are the god tier of strength, nothing is above this tier. And keep in mind that they have bf, and they lift three four times their weight, in reality they are lifting more if you dont count the bf weight. These guys are pros, they know what they're doing.

  • @manatualexandru

    Plus they can clean a lot more than 400.....it's the jerk that limits them.I've never seen anyone struggle on the clean at this level.

    this is a confusing post: (1) if you really are a bodybuilder of 12 years, it would be obvious that you are trolling/joking because any seasoned bodybuilder knows that bodybuilders are no where near the level of power that olympic lifters are at. (2) if you really are a 12 yr BB, then you know that olympic lifters at this weightclass are not about aesthetics, but instead power. So this leads me to think, again, that you are joking. This is a sport about lifting the most weight they can.

  • @Potatoslice

    Now now, I believe our friend Craig when he says he can "lift" these weights =3
    Yes, I can see it now. Craig in his gym, loading up five plates, and...
    ...doing a 6-inch ROM leg press with the same weight these blokes are throwing over their heads :D
    I think that's the reality of the situation :-P

  • @andromedarr

    well
    number 1. this is not powerlifting
    number 2. i compete in "weightlifting" (not powerlifting) and i'm the youth (u17) champion for my nation so i know very well how all these things work
    number 3. the big guys in the 105+ doesn't compete against someone in a lower class or the opposite.
    just to straighten that out :)

    You most likely can't lift those weights. These guys have a 400kg squat and deadlift. And cleans of 240 odd kgs, but good for you, if you think you can compete with these guys.

  • @wolfy9005
    @wolfy9005 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's what I was implying. Bodybuilders are all about muscle size, not density. Not even good muscle. Plus any weightlifter in a sanctioned event can't have any form of performance enhancing drug in them, whereas everybody knows most bodybuilders are on the juice.
    I get weird looks in the gym when I do (power) cleans and clean pulls, but I guess those people are too busy checking themselves out in the mirror or talking to their mates so whatever :p

    You realize these are kilos right? 1kg=2.2lbs so 238kg is about 524lbs... So if you can lift a quarter ton over your head then post a video.

  • @Journeytohappy
    @Journeytohappy 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lift anything over 200lbs over your head and try to "control" it. It is unsafe on your shoulders to slowly lower it. Plus these men are the best in the world at this sport, I believe they know what they are doing. Are you the best in the world at anything? I think not. Stop being ignorant.

    Everyone has diff skills, the strongest can't run for shit, the fastest cant lift for shit, the gymnasts cant do either but have the best relative strength, marathon runners are tiny but could outrun 50 weightlifters in a row, some can throw things far, some can jump high or far, bodybuilders just pose on stage and really master no skills...

    Yeh' you mad i got likes and you haven't learn't that bodybuilder focus far more on vascular toning then strength that "bear mode" power-lifters have, power-lifters like these have high body fat percentage witch boosts something called short explosive, obviously not fast considering they are very heavy men, but the strength doesn't just source from their muscle, Learn a little about fat in power-lifting, and one more thing, You say i don't know anything of body building yet this is power-lifting
