This episode is incredible; the immediate chemistry between Dean and Castiel is awesome, and Cas's introduction has to be one of the best scenes in the show IMO. On a different note, it's surprising to me that you interpreted Dean as not remembering his time in hell; it was immediately apparent to me that he was lying and he remembered everything the second he looked in the mirror.

This season definitely has more direction in comparison to season 3. More legendary episodes this season, almost shocking how many they have this season. Almost mind boggling how these writers keep doing it. Possibly a demon deal by the producers. I thought you knew by now that lying to each other is the Winchester way. 8:35 😳 I think we all had that look the first time seeing Sam flexing his muscle and exorcising.(Barz) Ruby in a whole new host, but still breathing. Of course Sam has to lie about her, it’s tradition. Sam and Ruby roomies 😆🤣😆🤣🤣, that was hilarious. Walking around in panties, I don’t know 🤷♂️. I see what you’re saying with the grieving. Kinda like in mystery spot he was suffering for 6 months and we saw some of it. I get it and I agreed when I first saw it. But the season is constructed so brilliantly that you’ll almost forget about it. One of the next couple of episodes, will probably be one of your favorites also. I won’t say which one but I think you’ll know it when you get there. You want answers, well you will get them. Jack Nicholson voice: you can’t handle the truth!
No Spoilers or anything. But Dean does remember hell. As you mentioned in your viewing, there's a lot of lying going on. The scene of him in the bathroom with the hell flashbacks is to let you know he does remember and is, in fact, lying about it.

Eric Kripke had said that he won't go the Lost way of telling stories - piles on top of piles of questions but no answers. So, yeah, buckle up. When your questions are answered by the show, you are not prepared for it. I have seen on Patreon that you are in the middle of the season already, so you have seen episode 3 'In The Beginning', which is phenomenal. The episode answered questions that we audience raised in season 1 and season 2. So, what happened to Dean in hell will not be glossed over and overlooked by the show. It is a very big plot arch of the season.
