I was born and brought up in Walton but left Liverpool in 2015 to move to Galway due to work. I come back on a regular basis to see my parents but never went into Town until last Xmas 2020 and I was shocked at the amount of homeless people in and around town, everywhere you went there was some poor soul wrapped in a quilt. I felt ashamed to be a scouser for a while. Seeing projects like this reminds me how big a heart Liverpool has.

It's so sad seeing people sleeping on the street, I've been in that situation myself (I was lucky that I had my car so I had relatively secure shelter) I felt that loneliness and it's awful to feel that nobody in the world gives shit. Fortunately we don't have many homeless where I live and I always stop to talk to them let them know there's hope.
Amazing, I wish every town and city could unite and do something great like this to help the homeless, there's so many people out there who are suffering and need this type of thing.
As a former local authority housing officer for numerous local authorities throughout the UK and experience of housing/ homelessness spanning almost 30 years, in my personal and professional opinion, the shocking homelessness situation in Liverpool is symbolic of the abject corruption and lack of humanity in the services both statutory and non-statutory, to actually HELP and SUPPORT people who are homeless! I made the decision not to continue working and therein challenging these corrupt services, but to continue to help and advise, support and love people who are homeless individually, rather than be tied to any corruption where I end up having to take them to employment tribunals! (3 so far!) I first came across this amazing man Lawrence Kenwright from the news story about 3/4 years ago regarding this shelter he had set up. I recall actually crying at this man's sheer humanity and remember saying one day I'd like to simply meet him and hug him and shake his hand. 4 years later, I've had the chance to do that.👊🏾 Again I extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone involved in setting up this shelter and most importantly to you for recognizing the humanity in people who are homeless. They are People FIRST and homeless SECONDARY as a RESULT OF THEIR INDIVIDUAL LIFE'S EXPERIENCES. Bless Your heart every one of you💜.

Shame on Liverpool council, I worked with homeless in Parr Street, quite a few of its workers lost our jobs, including myself, due to lack of funding. The people of Liverpool are the heart ❤ of the city, we need more people like this, but sadly, the powers that be are not humanitarians, their moral compass is lost with greed and money 😢

As a volunteer in CSP I can see the great work that’s being done but there is always more to do - more people need to step up and start doing what Lawrence is and helping others as the benefits in helping others far outweigh just looking after yourself!

Fantastic initiative shown by the organisers, wonderful help from volunteers you should be very proud. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you. As I do for the homeless including those with mental health and addiction problems who are trying to improve their situation. As Oscar Wilde said - I may be in the gutter but I'm looking up at the stars. Can't believe the Council didn't jump at the stars and help and continue this project, its beyond belief.

What an amazing venture to try to tackle the homeless problem. You are doing a great job. A lot of people in our city now cannot tell who is homeless and who is a professional beggar. This is stopping people helping and speaking to the homeless which is very sad. Something needs to be done to remove these con artists from the streets so the true homeless can be helped. Meanwhile, keep up the good work in trying to help the unfortunate in our city

I am Homeless in Glasgow Scotland. Use WiFi hot spots .2020 . from Common wealth country grandparents from Britain. Sleep on the pavement camp Matt and sleeping bag don't beg people , don't claim benefits. Don't drink alcohol don't take drugs. Because I went to same church Baptist church as Susan Tulley project worker at Glasgow city mission Christian charity refuse food and to wash my clothes. On there website helping homeless jobs place to stay . Was at city mission 5 months. Many Baptist churches in common wealth countries. Like the band at the church. Bible teaches us to love one another. Never treated any one like this no matter the skin colour. Susan Tulley project worker said go back to your country . David Harper and Clydale manager said don't come back. All 23 staff dislikes foreigners. Before Corona. City mission allow all the drunk people in the dinning hall not me. Can't eat at other charity white bread gluten effects me.sleep on pavement 4 nights no food. Judges at sheriff court Glasgow dislikes foreigners put a restraing order can't go to Baptist church and City mission. Judges dislikes foreigners. Sheriff court Glasgow Scotland is like a Circus. Yes it was a roller coaster of emotion, we knew they were coming for us, but we could not turn our backs on our guests, who had become friends. The Council looked at us as though we were showing them up and in some way we were, but not out of malice it was due to the piss poor service they stated was amazing the Echo painted them out to Kings when actually it was just a political tick box x x

I can't think of any other logical reason for people to be neglected like this in 2023. They've got money and tones of empty building and tones of volenteers aswell as paid staff who would jump at the opportunity to work in shelters rather then on the streets. The general public who work in all industries are having to make time to be supportworkers volenty cos the government won't do what there very capable of doing. It's obscene and disgraceful that a regular common job whatever it may be, will barely cover rent and other necessities. I work 40 hrs and even if i poured my whole check into rent, it would still not be enough, never mind food or gas and electric. When i was growing up, my father was just a regular laborer in a factory and the single breadwinner. Rent was always paid, we never went hungry and there was even enough at the end of the month to treat us to a movie or some Chinese takeout. He also managed to put some money away in the bank, try to figure that out. I never even realized we were actually poor as all our friends and relatives lived in a similar semi-comfortable conditions. What the hell happened? I love my father so much, always happy he used to tell us that with technological progress and other advances, we'd be able to live better and give our children what he couldn't give us. That never happened...i wish i could go back to those times...

British people who are homeless and mentally ill should live as well as asylum seekers. Legitimate asylum seeks are welcome, but people experiencing hard times in the UK should also be housed.
Those of us in these situations should have a place to go where we can decide which part we wil play to buid our own houses for ourselves and each other . So a little training on bricklaying , roofing or whatever and then on sites building. Yet the goverment wont allow this we should do it ! everyone deserves the basics no mateer who they are or where they are from if you are human your basics should be provided for . That is the job of our goverment. If they can t do it then we have to sack them and empower those who propel such plans.
The Government just ordered £ 100,000,000 towards extra Police. but nothing for the homeless!!!!!. Where is the humanity about that.? Are we not looking after one another ? I take my hat off to the people of kingsway because other people don't give a fuck. What annoys me is I go into any supermarket and the shelves are full and if 1 shelf was to be emptied the staff would refill it right away. It's 2019 and people are hungry and homeless these are fucking human beings we shouldn't look at there drug or drink habit look at them as a fellow human. For years my job is helping any people I don't care what colour you are or what you look like or your Beliefs I care about what is in your heart or if you need help, so don't just walk by guys actual give a fuck for once in your life and give a helping hand. I used to work in kingsway house 1979/ 1981 then the show room was full of luxury cars [cars of distinction] so sad too see Liverpool’s decline

Watched this afew times , am always humbled see fellow humans with a good soul helping others , it's a great feeling. The best joy is seeing sister Clereece doing wat she does best and still doing it in 2021 keep up , ❤️, I beleave we always have homlesdness & always have folk to help the homeless , inshallah.

As a volunteer in CSP I can see the great work that’s being done but there is always more to do - more people need to step up and start doing what Lawrence is and helping others as the benefits in helping others far outweigh just looking after yourself!

Fantastic initiative shown by the organisers, wonderful help from volunteers you should be very proud. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you. As I do for the homeless including those with mental health and addiction problems who are trying to improve their situation. As Oscar Wilde said - I may be in the gutter but I'm looking up at the stars. Can't believe the Council didn't jump at the stars and help and continue this project, its beyond belief.

What an amazing venture to try to tackle the homeless problem. You are doing a great job. A lot of people in our city now cannot tell who is homeless and who is a professional beggar. This is stopping people helping and speaking to the homeless which is very sad. Something needs to be done to remove these con artists from the streets so the true homeless can be helped. Meanwhile, keep up the good work in trying to help the unfortunate in our city

I am Homeless in Glasgow Scotland. Use WiFi hot spots .2020 . from Common wealth country grandparents from Britain. Sleep on the pavement camp Matt and sleeping bag don't beg people , don't claim benefits. Don't drink alcohol don't take drugs.
Because I went to same church Baptist church as Susan Tulley project worker at Glasgow city mission Christian charity refuse food and to wash my clothes. On there website helping homeless jobs place to stay . Was at city mission 5 months. Many Baptist churches in common wealth countries. Like the band at the church. Bible teaches us to love one another. Never treated any one like this no matter the skin colour. Susan Tulley project worker said go back to your country . David Harper and Clydale manager said don't come back. All 23 staff dislikes foreigners. Before Corona. City mission allow all the drunk people in the dinning hall not me. Can't eat at other charity white bread gluten effects me.sleep on pavement 4 nights no food. Judges at sheriff court Glasgow dislikes foreigners put a restraing order can't go to Baptist church and City mission. Judges dislikes foreigners. Sheriff court Glasgow Scotland is like a Circus. Yes it was a roller coaster of emotion, we knew they were coming for us, but we could not turn our backs on our guests, who had become friends. The Council looked at us as though we were showing them up and in some way we were, but not out of malice it was due to the piss poor service they stated was amazing the Echo painted them out to Kings when actually it was just a political tick box x x
@@lawrencekenwright. part of me is beginning to wonder are they wanting the homless all sat round as a warning fear tactic to general public if we don't fall in to line this is where we can end up. I can't think of any other logical reason for people to be neglected like this in 2023.
They've got money and tones of empty building and tones of volenteers aswell as paid staff who would jump at the opportunity to work in shelters rather then on the streets. The general public who work in all industries are having to make time to be supportworkers volenty cos the government won't do what there very capable of doing. We'll tbh I'll back track there cos to be capable a real caring heart is needed, so yes they should follow the guidelines set by kingsway house or hand the responsibility to the likes of you and Brian who worked magic and achieved a place that offered consistency on many levels.

It's obscene and disgraceful that a regular common job whatever it may be, will barely cover rent and other necessities. I work 40 hrs and even if i poured my whole check into rent, it would still not be enough, never mind food or gas and electric. When i was growing up, my father was just a regular laborer in a factory and the single breadwinner. Rent was always paid, we never went hungry and there was even enough at the end of the month to treat us to a movie or some Chinese takeout. He also managed to put some money away in the bank, try to figure that out. I never even realized we were actually poor as all our friends and relatives lived in a similar semi-comfortable conditions. What the hell happened? I love my father so much, always happy he used to tell us that with technological progress and other advances, we'd be able to live better and give our children what he couldn't give us. That never happened...i wish i could go back to those times...

British people who are homeless and mentally ill should live as well as asylum seekers. Legitimate asylum seeks are welcome, but people experiencing hard times in the UK should also be housed.

Those of us in these situations should have a place to go where we can decide which part we wil play to buid our own houses for ourselves and each other . So a little training on bricklaying , roofing or whatever and then on sites building. Yet the goverment wont allow this we should do it ! everyone deserves the basics no mateer who they are or where they are from if you are human your basics should be provided for . That is the job of our goverment. If they can t do it then we have to sack them and empower those who propel such plans.
Or your local Council should provide, hopefully Liverpool under new leadership will be that City

I take my hat off to the people of kingsway because other people don't give a fuck. What annoys me is I go into any supermarket and the shelves are full and if 1 shelf was to be emptied the staff would refill it right away. It's 2019 and people are hungry and homeless these are fucking human beings we shouldn't look at there drug or drink habit look at them as a fellow human. For years my job is helping any people I don't care what colour you are or what you look like or your Beliefs I care about what is in your heart or if you need help, so don't just walk by guys actual give a fuck for once in your life and give a helping hand. This is heartbreaking to see anyone hungry or homeless
If you are really want to recover, you will get help!There are so many private and government charities!Homeliness is just a way of life!People, look at statistics from 1970-60s ,there was a very low percentage of homeless!Why?Because there wasn`t any bloody welfare system!This new generation is so soft and weak,always relying on others!
