    To get perfect punchdowns, you separate the pairs into the right order and iron them out with your thumb. Once they stay together, cut the ends to about 1cm protruding from the black sheath. Then do the rest of the crimp!

    • @deeveevideos
      @deeveevideos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In all reality you should always end cable runs with Jacks and use pre made cables for connections to your devices. its a lot faster and way more reliable.

    • @MinecraftAzsassin
      @MinecraftAzsassin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      D V all you need to do is test the cables when finished making the runs.. if all pairs come up ok and they pass, plug them in.

    3:52 In my sleep. 568-A and 568-B. ;-)
    BTW, the crimp connector was upside-down when you inserted the wires. With the first pair on the left, the terminal should go on with the retainer clip facing away from you, not toward you. It will still work, but the next guy who comes along to replace one of the ends will be scratching his head if he doesn't look carefully. As for tightening up the connection (having the insulation go into the connector does help with structural integrity), you just have to get the conductors very straight, then cut them to about 1cm before inserting them. Hint: once they're in the correct order and flat between your thumb and finger, putting a slight bend in all the wires when they're almost straightened can help finish the job.

    You should have used 2.4Ghz frequency sir for long distances. 5Ghz offers faster speeds but its not good for long distance installations.

    • @WayneHackman
      @WayneHackman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I did consider 2.4 but there is lots of congestion on that frequency. 5ghz works really well for our needs.Thanks for the advise.

    • @doitek

      5 Ghz works great with 20 Mhz and Country Australia.

    • @electric6877
      @electric6877 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOS long distance 5Ghz will do just fine but non LOS it all depends. It all depends on the desired performance because not all wisps want to offer 5mbps (like me) so I'd rather work out the terrain problems with height, azimuth, and angling of the panel to have appropriate propagation, similar to cellular network engineering.

Some scary rj45 mod ends for real one yank it's done... that jacket on the cable is there for a reason. Additionally for correcting the first problem of the weak crimping job for a one hand job (lol) service loop? Zip ties not twist ties !!!

    Those ethernet ends are garbage. If you look on Amazon, they sell RJ-45 connectors that the individual wires pass through the end which are cut off as the end is crimped. This allows you to pull the sheath as far as you can into the connector itself. www.amazon.com/Passthrough-Connectors-Plated-Micron-Performance/dp/B079K7XMGQ/ These are the ones we use at my workplace.

      It’s an interesting idea. I lived in Bermuda for a few years. Worked with a company who put up community hotspots in high traffic areas. If you were there customer you could access them for free. If you we a guest you could subscribe to to the service. Great in tourist hotspots who want cheap internet. Defiantly and idea worth exploring.
