The Gospel is Jesus' sacrifice...the law is how we act so that we do not live in sin. You see it in Genesis 4....sacrifice and avoiding sin.... but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Close . . . but the Gospel isn't a promise. It's a proclamation of a PAST event. A promise, though indicative, is a proclamation about the future. Jesus' work is finished. It's not yet to be accomplished.

Romans 6:1-4, read the entire chapter, it talks about the regeneration of the true converted sinner. Romans CHAPTER 8 is classic explanation of true conversation. He received a letter to give him authority to arrest everyone who believed this so called nonsense. The as Paul was on his way to Damascus, Suddenly a bright light Shon all around Him.
