This was a great owner to mic. She gave information, insight and explanations but she never was defensive. She brought her horse to you so both could learn.
@@adamjohnson1311 if she was knowledgeable she would not have been trying to ride a horse she had so poorly prepared. She did seek help though, so credit for that.
@@stolensilver6963 It is always very comfortable to judge form the couch. She had a few mustangs before so it seems understandable that she didn’t know what to do when her usual method didn’t work. That’s why she asked for help and that is a great attitude. Your attitude is terrible though.
Interesting video. She is so reactive to simple things, but you can see as the video progresses that she is starting to think more and flee less. Hope the owner brings her back to you before anyone tries to ride her again. Yes to seeing all the training with your mustang!!
Thank you for talking about some of the deeper concepts in recognizing when the horse is actually understanding your intentions and when they are simply reacting. The subtleties are what make it effective! Yes please take us along on your Mustang Challenge!!
Yes to Mustang Magic! Great explanations, such a good video, that owner really picked up the subtleties of training. Her questions and the responses helped me to understand so much better.
I have a very dominant mustang mare. What did I learn: - Don't overdue it with liberty work - Trust is hard earned. Expose the mustang to something where you can proof them that you are the leader. - Think about anything if you can ride it. Mine jumps over anything, so I really had to make sure that there is not a big outbreak after the jump - Small steps. We humans - including me - are sometimes too greedy and push too much. Fix everything. - Trust, trust, trust. I mean really. I can go on a solo ride with my 4 year old because she trust me. We still need to work through a lot, but she trusts me and that is the most important. Mustangs are amazing. Mine taught me a lot and I ride since 50 years.
I live in the Chicago suburbs so I will never be able to afford my own horse but I ride whenever I can, mainly trail rides, and sometimes take lessons. My riding has improved watching you. Thank you Some other trainers edit to show partial slow motion in their videos. I would find that very helpful.
The way I look at it, my mustang basically trained herself with my help. As a non-professional trainer it's beautiful to see. it gave her and I confidence.
Thats it, train all the basics and pressure in the first lot of training. Good job Ryan 😉. The lady got lots to learn to add to her knowledge. Hope to see videos of you doing the mustang magic 😊
I’d love to follow your progress with a mustang please! I’ve never owned my own horse, but have always loved them & I really enjoy your videos. You are very calm & perceptive with the horses (& very patient & diplomatic with the owners!)
This woman communicates well and really is trying to pick up the small details .... I enjoyed listening to what she did before she called Ryan. She is also very clued into what he is showing her .... Kudos to the owner
Yes Ryan I would love to see you do Mustang Magic! I need mustang videos. I have a young mare that has an unknown history. She is unique and sensitive. I have been told she may be a mustang. I see that she has holes in understanding, but learns quickly.
What a beautiful mare. Kudos to the owner for keeping the horse and not sending her back into the pipeline. I hope you are richly blessed with her in your life.
Fascinating video to watch it's always interesting to see the difference between how you teach horses in America to here in the UK. We have a horse trainer here in the UK that posts videos who uses methods he learnt in the US he is helping so many people. Your videos are the next level giving even more understanding. I've watched your videos for a while now and learnt so much. Thank you for sharing. Would love to see you in the Mustang Magic.
What an absolute pleasure it was listening to this woman! Such a great example of how all horse people need to be. And Ryan.. yet another amazingly informative video. Thank you ❤
I completely agree. I have a mustang mare. I stopped to "desensitize" her because she didn't read me. She just figured out that this item would not harm her. The main issue was really trust and not the flag or tarp.
This owner is great and I think you have put her in the path this horse needs. Even experienced owners get stuck sometimes and so helpful to watch how you tailer your training. I would love to see you video the mustang training. Thanks
Yes, both my wife and I would really love to see some mustang videos and you competing! We started watching you about a year and a half ago when we adopted 2 BLM mustangs and we have learned and applied a lot of things from you! Thank you so much!
Good owner this for not just dumping a horse with difficulties. And she's done heaps to make the poor thing feel comfortable. Excellent! However ground work and daily handling and doing yields to build your relationship is essential, I have never had a horse who was a problem as by the time they are ready to ride, they've had saddles on, have had my weight across their back and, like you said, if your ground work is solid, the horse takes new experiences in its stride because it trusts you to be a good leader. Lovely mare this, bright and good looking she's quick on the uptake too. The owner too is asking intelligent questions and wants to learn and this will have a good outcome because she wants to learn (both the owner and the horse, like I've said for years, theres always something to learn when it comes to horses.
Conversation is what is required between 2 parties to come to a consensus and an understanding. Both parties need to be treated equally for them to contribute equally. I think humans often forget this when working with other animals. If someone can't speak, you need to look carefully to understand what they are saying. This video does a great job of showing that lack of common ground between both parties in the conversation. In a way, it is the same when dealing with other humans. If we only concentrate on what we (as individuals) want out of a conversation, there will never be a mutual understanding between both parties. If there is no mutual understanding, there is no common goal. If there is no common goal, the outcome can become messy. This seems to have been a great case in point and something we can all learn from. Thanks.
Excellent video giving clear reasons why groundwork/ foundational work is important. Best explanation I’ve ever heard. I will watch this video many times. I get so much out of Ryan’s Patreon subscription Yes I’d love to see you do a mustang makeover:).
All your vids are intriguing & educational but especially the particular nuances of this horse & her training. I can see I'll be coming back this vid multiple times to absorb it all. Well done! Kudos to the receptive owner too. PS: congrats on the Mustang magic too. What fun that will be!
What a great owner! I really liked how open and honest she was as well as the time she is willing to put into that mustang mare. I have a mare as well who is similar to a mustang since she lived on 200 acres and no one rode her for about 7 years. I have to say that the sensitive ones who are a challenge are some of the best once you have tamed them! I wouldn't part with mine for any amount of money. :o)

Great work having owner mic up,. nice to hear both sides, Thank you Ryan.

I agree with the other commentors. This lady truly understands what you are saying and seems like she will now add this to any horse she works with.

A great example of why ‘desensitising’ is not equal to training.

@@shelm-b8pBoth are important so it's great you took the time & made the effort to address the missing link in the training. 💖🐎
Yes. And the owner said something about suppling. That's training on a trained horse. This horse is not there. Not enough understanding.
@asnormal1362 the person making the comment is correct. If there's no trust it's an uphill battle.
