From the sound of the bike shutting off, there was an airlock in the tank. All you needed to do was open the tank for a secs, close it and continue. It usually happens when you fill fuel till the mouth of the tank. Nothing else seemed wrong with the bike. Its all a apart of the experience and glad that you guys got back safely. Happy and safe riding and cheer to many more long rides to all the bikers out there. 🙂

It's because of waxy airfilter for extra clean air to engine, which is good in normal condition but not in laddakh.... remove waxy layer by dipping it in hot water ,dry it and then plug it.. problem will solved...

How all the 3 bikes had waxy filter??? That's definitely not the reason. The Honda needs better r&d before releasing their products. Because of the stupid phrase Hond is Honda, everyone thinks its bulletproof. The Hornet 2.0 being excellent example has many problems. They're not taking their products seriously, atleast the Indian ones.

Royal Enfield is the supplier of bikes to the Indian Army since 1949, with that kind of experience RE has a clear advantage in making bikes for extreme conditions. It's a tried and tested machine. And the Next Generation series of RE engines are very refined.

True on all accounts, but they are still too heavy & for no good reason, they are still not as refined as most Japanese motorcycles, also the price is unjustifiably high currently. Build quality is also a known issue for RE, rusting is too common for their bikes.

After researching on this, I found out that the problem is the wet type air filter, which struggles to let air in at high altitudes. It can be easily solved by cleaning the air filter in soap water and drying it. This will remove the oil layer on the filter and will have no impact on the engine. Only the life of the air filter reduces by doing this but hey, it costs only 150 bucks.
Honda should have tested out the bike at high altitudes. Anyway, it is a minor issue and should be rectified at dealership level. They should offer both dry and wet type air filters.

I guess knowing Honda and its spectrum of more advanced bikes such as Africa Twin and other mid level bikes they have designed they should be able to solve this issue, because if a 100cc bike is able to reach upto Khardungla then why a 350cc is struggling, so the design and technical teams will have to fix this asap to avoid losing future customers

If required take off the air filter in those high passes when the bike gives problem for the time being. And if you get time you can clean the filter with detergent and make it almost like more Porus so more air gets in

Bigger cities means more people will travel so longer buses higher altitude has narrow roads less people so shorter buses... Haryana roadways is 52 seater Himachal is 42 or 46...engine remains the same. Maybe honda has mapped ECU for more than 85% o2 available.. Ladakh has less than that so yes it will not be stable.

Dont Rethink, CB350 is a very good bike. This issue happened with Interceptor also when it was released, you can watch Bulu Biker Video. After RE updated their ECU, the problem was solved. Tt is because the ECU is not calibrated to extreme altitude performance. In Honda Hness, you can overcome this issue just by removing the ECU coupler and no issue will be there.
