  • www.vladtv.com - Mopreme Shakur spoke to VladTV about the meaning of 2Pac's "Thug Life," an acronym for "The Hate U Gave Little Infants F***s Everybody," and he revealed that the legendary rapper created it for all underdogs. He added that "Thug Life represents the poor and disenfranchised of all nationalities who are pressed by economics and power structure."
    During the conversation Mopreme also gave his definition of a thug, which he said is an oppressed person trying to overcome adversities and survive. Shakur added that a lot of people can relate with the Thug Life message, because the have nots far out weigh those who have.

      Do black people really need to be Attached to Thug Life . We already have a thousand other negative terms to describe us . Went Tupac was alive I didn’t feel any positive vibe from that phrase. Just a bunch of out of control fools running around. Tupac was a walking contradiction

      @TheSupremeDunk 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RadicalSyndicate Tupac was a gangster rapper.....stop reaching....a revolutionary is Chuck D, KRS, Immortal Tech, Mos Def, Dead Prez, X Clan, even early Ice Cube...........Pac was a child of revolutionaries but he was a gangster rapper...none of his music taught history or gave instructions of how to make real change.....most of his music was complaining, crying, and making idle threats at enemies every now and again he would make an attempt at a positive song. Pac was a paranoid mama's boy who was looking for acceptance. Do yourself a favor and try listening to some real hip-hop of the 90's and not this overhyped commercial rapper. And Im a Pac fan....but he was simply 1 out of 10000 great rappers of that era.....but because he died young the media and labels blew his career wayyyyyy out of proportion.

    • @lwj24
      @lwj24 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Jerome Beck dude you're so ignorant. I'm not gonna respond to the whole comment, but a gangster rapper? Pac's music was not gangster rap, it was reality. It was about what he saw, experienced, etc. What separated him from others is that he talked about the repercussions of doing certain acts.Most rappers did not. I suggest you listen to: Words of wisdom, Who do you believe in, etc, etc, etc,. There's so many tracks by Pac that should change your perspective; there's several rare interviews too.

      @ajewul2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lwj24 the shit was gangster rap....you can sugar coat it all u want....but im 36...I grew up in that era, I have a much better understanding of what is what from that era. No documentary taught me about rap....experienced it first hand

      +lwj24 have you even listened to "most rappers" in that era....Im talking from 88-96...u couldn't have...because if you did you would realize there were literally tons of rappers way more revolutionary, uplifting, positive, and teaching Pan African messages than Pac.....but im sure you dont know

Matter of fact, ima go listen to that shit after I drop this comment. Shiiiiiiiiiit I haven't heard the shit since then. Fatal was always one of the nicest of the Outlawz on the Mic. A lot of people who were down with Pac have died young. Fatal, Yaki Khadafi, Stretch, Big Kado, Heron, Buntry, Neckbone, MC Breed, Flipside, Left Eye, Frank Alexander, Johnny J and a few other motherfuckers that done passed away, most violently.

      Because him & everyone around at the time believed that Puffy were hiring people to snatch Death Row chains & since Orlando already attempted to snatch Tray's chain before that, they thought he was gonna try something again so they stomped him out. If you're with your homies & you know someone already jumped one of them & was trying to do it again while you're there you'd do the same thing, especially if they were hired to do it by your enemy (Puffy).

      Still does

    • @doublec4431
      @doublec4431 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A thug is a violent person. It's not a racist word at all. Now what has happened is people try to put their own definition to it. Like for example the word gangster means thug but when it got spelled gangsta people try to justify the meaning of the word. Tupac is my favorite rapper but he also tried to justify the meaning and put his own definition to it by turning THUGLIFE into an acronym which stood for "The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everyone". It was a contradiction because Thug Life really means living a rough tough hectic pathetic chaotic life. But people will always try to use the word how they feel suited nowadays. Some people use the word to substitute saying Nigga. Some people use the word as a reference to black criminals, some people use the word as a person who live in poverty struggling, sold or sell drugs, do criminal activities and things, or have struggled, you do what's right but don't allow people to walk all over you, you're not a pushover, you stand up for what's morally right, ya willing to throw down or die for what you stand for or believe in. In other words the word thug gets mistaken for a vigilante type of person.
