I could absolutely live in that house. Once you get the countertops sealed, I think you will be pleased with the concrete. The mismatched knobs are perfect.
Hi beautiful soul! We are having torrential rain and flood warnings in a rain forest that is used to rain in southeast Alaska. Thank you for sharing your home. I love your “good clean” comment. You got Jessica shelves! Makes room look bigger because your eye can go all the way to the wall. My daughter in law did a sliding barn double door in her kitchen that covers pantry. Much better than cupboards that were there!
Okay, here on the recommendation of Jess. I have watched 30 seconds of this video and had to pause it to tell you I am loving your already!!! Much thanks for all the enjoyment you will bring to my heart from here on out.
We had the same thing in our 70s house. I told my husband that shag orange carpet was going to be the first thing to go! We didn’t have shiplap behind our paneling so we just painted it. 😊
Dave and I have renovated, flipped and built homes....My life has been a constant reno...and then...we move...LOL...hopefully we will be here at the lake for a while. Lovely home you have.
We bought a fixer upper as well, it was so bad that after we bought it people that had considered buying it before us stopped by to say good luck lol! The same people stop by on occasion to say how awesome of a job we are doing! It's a challenge for sure!
You should feel proud of your home! You OWN that land- there are so many people in this life that cannot say the same. This is the space that built your family- that built your farm. I think it is a very cute home; very much reminds me of my first house. I love it!
Here because I saw u with Jess and Awwwww... Your home is so very sweet and ur so very sweet!! I'm diggin' ur style!! This is exactly what I picture when I see those signs and welcome mats that say "Home Sweet Home" Thank u so much for sharing ur living space with us... It was really something very warm and inviting. Please take care and be blessed!! Peace and love from Tennessee!!
Beautiful work! Miah does awesome work! Love the open cabinets and the different colored knobs. There is a piece of furniture that Hobby Lobby that each drawer is different colors and each drawer has different knobs and I love it.
Ok, I'm your friend and you invited me in and GIRL I love those counter tops. To me they are forever tops, just go back and seal them. Who knows maybe it will work. I love the house. You will miss it and the memories when you leave. However, you are going to love the new place down the road.. your babies are still little and gobs of new memories are on there way.
I feel you on the icky carpet in the living room!! When we moved closer to my husbands job six years ago, there weren't any houses for sale, and we got to the point where we needed to move in two weeks, and God totally moved, and we found a farmhouse that had just changed hands, and he wanted to rent it out cheap, and we could do anything we wanted to it, so we did what we could before we moved in, changed carpet in master, cleaned whole house and painted the bedrooms, but the night we moved in, we tore out the nasty stinky carpet in the living room, I thought I could wait until the special ordered carpet came in in two weeks, but I just couldn't! I love your hardwood floors though!! What a beautiful surprise! Love the shiplap, open shelves, and concrete countertops!! Ahh! I just love your style! Totally my style too! Can't wait to see what else you do in the coming months before you sell!! I love remodeling houses, it is a huge passion my husband and I have! I love the before and after pictures!
I’m so inspired!! You see, I also purchased an old farmhouse about two years ago. I am still working on things as I’m a single person with not a lot of help. So your video and your comments absolutely inspired me and motivated me! Thank you for sharing! God bless!
Shou Sugi Ban is what the process of burning the wood is called ... it’s done to preserve the wood from the elements. ...potty talk included in a home tour... now that’s a new one... Happy you feel So fortunate ... I’m just thinking OMG there was yik yak and showing of things that you own in this than house tour
I like open shelves better..love the different knob theme.. Makes it more interesting..when I was a kid my parents hung a couple branches with birds nest in our dining room...definately different lol
I love your decor! The shiplap is awesome! Jeremiah does beautiful work. The Sowards are so sweet & loving. Thanks for sharing your home & your journey. May your family be blessed with many wonderful memories in this home.
I love all the work y'all have done on the house. My daughter and I moved into a fixer-upper on an acre 4 years ago. We're slowly getting things done. Part of that is that she's had her own power drill since she was 3, so she'd stop taking mine when she wanted to help me.
Just really enjoyed your house tour. It is such a reflection of you and your free spirit. A lot of love went into that, and how blessed you are to have friends like Jess and Sweet Miah to come along side of you and help! God is so IN this. It tickled me to hear your story about Miah potty training your daughter. What a hoot! So happy to have found you via Jess, now I have another source of ‘calm’ when the day has just been chaos. You and Roots and Refuge have become my ports in the daily storm! I find peace, encouragement and comedy, watching y’all grow! God bless you all ...
Hearing this meant so much Mary, thank you for your sweet and kind words. We are so thankful to have friends like Jess & Miah that pour into us. Truly a gift from God.
Just popping on here to say hi! I've loved Jess's channel for months and just discovered your family's stuff here today :) Love the house remodel, and I've geeked out to my husband that we would be totally be friends in real life if we lived a little closer. (We lived in NWA for several years, but are in SE Oklahoma now. I'm a total wannabe backyard homesteader and you and Jess are my people. Thanks for all your precious and encouraging content. I'll definitely drop by virtually in the future!
Honey , your home is very nice You have every reason to be proud . BTW I think your mixed knobs on the drawers are each very pretty ! I like that . Y’all be blessed and favored 🙏🏽❤️
Love your home! Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I’ve been married for over 51 years to my high school sweetheart and for most of our married life, we have something that we’re working on. Did I mention my husband is in construction, very hard working man, but because of that and raising four children, and eight grandchildren, life has always been so busy with little time to finish all the projects, but you know what, it’s home. And I’m so thankful to have a home that the Lord has blessed us with. So slowly but surely, things get done, projects get completed and life goes on. God bless.🌻
hahahaahah yes! We had NO idea what we were really getting into. We laugh about it now, but everyone knows we will never buy another fixer upper, hahahah.
We just finished a full remodel and now we are selling now and I can only imagine what we are going to get into in our next home, home number 4 only in Missouri, it's gonna be rough..I never want my house to look like any one else's houses!!
I would just leave the fireplace the way it is, that’s exactly how it was in our house when I was a small child, it was an open flow from kitchen, den and living room with the fireplace in the middle of them all.
Thank you so much & we keep thinking that too. Simple is better sometimes.

I loved the potty training story!!! I did not know Miah was like that, what a treasure! Seeing this now,... I get where Jess & Miah went with their own remodel, and you're going to fit right into their house where it's already done. I love their kitchen and now it's going to be YOUR kitchen. Awesome! 😁
I don’t know if you thought about this or if you’re even going to read this post but I would definitely get that door over to the new house I wouldn’t leave it there it’s beautiful along with all your flowers that you’re planning congratulations on your wonderful acquisition I can hardly wait to see what you guys do with it
New subbie from roots and refuge farm. Your home is beautiful love your videos. ❤️ I love the different cabinet knobs. Farmhouses aren’t matchy-matchy. I live in a turn of the century farmhouse it’s been a 26 year adventure in remodeling for us. One room at a time.
Simply fabulous and so YOU Jill!! Loved your share! And seeing more of Sweet Miah's creations. I'm so glad to be watching you on regular basis now!! Love and prayers from Indiana, Rossi J
I just watched this knowing you are moving not Jess's house and she is moving to the east coast. I love your house and I am Sur the knew owner will too. It must be hard to leave something you put your heart into.! Much Love!
Very nice happy to see someone put love back into house. We bought a house that needs alot of work as well. I didn't want to sleep in there either but we moved from NJ to TN had no choice lol. Between fixing up and learning to garden life is so good here.
Just discovered your channel and loving it so far! I have the exact same floral wood front door, and I'm in a house that was built in the very early 1980's in a tiny country town in Queensland, Australia!
So glad to have followed you!! Ive been working on my home for 7 years...the never ending story, but love the evolution! Your home is so comfy and inviting, which is the vibe I also aim for! 🥰
Oh my god mum and dad have the same front door 😲 we will in Australia 🇦🇺 I was watching you and saying “ that’s the same door my mum and dad have, I can’t be but it even has the cut in around the flowers. It’s such a small world 🥰
Nice & truly eclectic, with great bones so far! You guys must've flipped when you discovered shiplap covering the walls & ceilings, especially after not liking the way it was before! That's so popular now & would be so costly to replicate now, especially, since wood prices have been jacked up so much lately. What fun this project must've been to do with friends too. Re: not liking the concrete counters. I think you're right. It doesn't seem to fit somehow. It feels / looks too thick & heavy. However, if you can remove those counters without damaging them, they'd be great to use to build an outdoor kitchen, like with a grill built in between the 2 smaller shelf areas now used around your stove & sink area. The center slab could continue to be a huge prep & dining area outside, maybe in a logia area, under a roof, but open to the yard. I've seen some great fireplaces built outdoors in outdoor kitchens. Maybe the one you have in the house now could be used in the outdoor seating area next to the outdoor cooking & dining area! That would set you free as to what form of heat, or location to place your heating system, fireplace or woodstove...as a some day concept.. As for the finish on the concrete, you could try a high pressure hose or sandblast the concrete, once it's outside, to see if you can evenly blast off the current surface, & then polish it, stain & seal it. If you don't think you'd like that, why not do it in clay tiles! I'm a new sub since seeing you introduced by Jess. How amazing to get there the day two batches of pigs were born! Hope you're both enjoying watching over their farm & milking goats while they're away. Like you said in the vid on the R&R site I watched earlier today, it must be like walking into a dream.
It truly has been special and thank you for the tips and advice with the house. We have been thinking about taking the fireplace out and using it outside, really like that idea.
I really love the before and after pictures. Amazing to have all that beautiful shiplap underneath the walls. So many people pay to have that. Thise open shelves are the bomb!! I love everything you've done, including your personal touches. I think the branch is pretty cool. Keep embracing your beautiful hime.
Love your house. I love the open shelves, love the fire place, concrete island and the different draw pull would not change any of it. I'd take it as is. .. but also congrats on your new home. Happy for all of. You guys.
Thanks for sharing your home with us! It’s so beautiful🏡 I love the ship lap and rustic feel. Open shelving can be fun with lots of see through containers, baskets and curtains. 🤗 When my husband and I bought our first home, it was bad, we slept in the car in our driveway the first night, but little by little we made it beautiful and lots of love helps. ❤️❤️
Yes be proud of your home!!..u have come so far and it’ll mean so much more to u knowing u did it yourself and just the fact u OWN your home.lyes be very proud!! It looks soo much better than when u bought it.li looove that farmhouse sink and the way u did the open shelving...I need sweet Miah to come here !!.I’m in; love with the plant hanger thing he built u,I have so many plants that have to come in for the winter off my screened in porch and I’d love to have that..looove the flooring..I hate carpet..we have a couple of rooms that I want the carpet removed too..I like scatter rugs with hardwood floors I want a barn door sooo bad but this house there is no room for one.I have looked all over trying to find a place for one😢..we too bought our home last dec..and lord the work never stops haha..but like u said, one project at a time..one room at a time is how I deal with it...I love the unmatched drawer pulls..!!..u and Jess have the same taste and seem more like sisters...do u have sisters? ..my granddad use to raise rabbits on the farm .my dad being in the army,we would go home to VA.to visit them from ft bragg Nc.I always would get a baby bunny to take home and when we would get stationed somewhere else I’d have to take the bunny back to them.soooo many times at granddads I would b eating rabbit not chicken like I thought because they knew I would never eat a bunny! Lol...and yes they multiple fast and a lot!..❤️
Thank you so much Cheri. It’s been work but well worth it for sure. And yes we all need a Miah to come around and help us out, i still ask to borrow him for projects hahah. I have 1 sister and 1 brother

Awe thank you so much Helen, so happy to have you following along on our journey.
Right? Hahaha same situation here
PS
I love the free standing fireplace. If you brick it use old repurchased brick. Stone matching the hearth would be pretty.
We had the same thing in our 70s house. I told my husband that shag orange carpet was going to be the first thing to go! We didn’t have shiplap behind our paneling so we just painted it. 😊
I love your house and you can see your personality all over it.
Dave and I have renovated, flipped and built homes....My life has been a constant reno...and then...we move...LOL...hopefully we will be here at the lake for a while. Lovely home you have.
It’s good to see people appreciate the little things in life. God is good!

hahaha man do I feel this. Our one neighbor comes by often to check in and see how its all going.

Thank you so much. He truly did do such a good job

Look into doing an epoxy over those concrete countertops! There’s some really gorgeous colors out there
This is a great idea, Nathan said he's thought about that before, it would be so pretty.
I love all the work y'all have done on the house. My daughter and I moved into a fixer-upper on an acre 4 years ago. We're slowly getting things done. Part of that is that she's had her own power drill since she was 3, so she'd stop taking mine when she wanted to help me.

You and jess make me want those shelves so bad!!!! You guys make me want to do a remodel!!
I love them! And they allow me to buy more baskets 🤪
You could put some pretty tiles over concrete counter tops, like terracotta, or portugese tiles. Very easy to clean, looks fabulous!
I love the look of your home. Blending the old with the new. Y'all did a wonderful job. Looks beautiful and cozy and inviting.
Thanks so much! 😊

Love your house. I love the open shelves, love the fire place, concrete island and the different draw pull would not change any of it. I'd take it as is. .. but also congrats on your new home. Happy for all of. You guys.
Beautiful!!! ❤️
Thank you Bonnie!
You are such a sweetheart 💞. I love the work Miah did. Fabulous!!!
I love watching both families.
Thanks for sharing your home with us! It’s so beautiful🏡 I love the ship lap and rustic feel. Open shelving can be fun with lots of see through containers, baskets and curtains. 🤗
When my husband and I bought our first home, it was bad, we slept in the car in our driveway the first night, but little by little we made it beautiful and lots of love helps. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much for the house love and goodness that's so funny about sleeping in your car, lol.
Absolutely beautiful! So authentic!
Wow! I really love it... ❤
Now I wanna shiplap my whole house lol... I already loved it anyway.
I love what Miah has done!!! That door is amazing!!
