This song was released in 1976-77. Boosty played guitar for James Brown at one time in his career. Bootzilla, Can't Stay Away, Roter-Rooter, Hollywood Square are a couple of my favorites.

Freak like me- Adinah Howard sampled the melody. But you can hear the influences heavy. Redbone has the same vibe.

Bootsy is the bassist for Parliament Funkadelic and he plays the SPACE BASS! James Brown hired him and his brother to play for him before he even graduated high school! 1 of the baddest bass players of ALL TIME

Bootsy's Rubber Band was a sub-set of Parlament / Funkadelic. They're the same players and singers but a smaller band with Bootsy out in front. His brother, Catfish on guitar. You completely miss the last line on the fadeout: "I'm 'gon stick my love in your eye, baby, so you can see me come'n baby, just com'n all over you." All the rappers in the 90s sampled from the 70s and 80s.

Bootsy Collins started out playing guitar for James Brown, then went on to be a member of Parliament Funkadelics. "I'd Rather be with you" was released in 1976. Another Funk era group you should check out is called Con Funk Shun - Got To Be Enough.

Love this cut. This song was also a big inspiration for Childish Gambinos cut Redbone. Check him out with the group Deee-Lite, the song Groove is in the Heart. Q-tip from Tribe Called Quest spits a verse on it too. Early 90s dance jam, the psychedelic video is pretty dope.

@@JustJammin cool...you have so many videos..it's hard to keep up .. 😂 however like I've said both your old and newer videos always pop up on my TH-cam feed... Also bruh...there are Two Documentaries that you must one day check out...if you haven't already...and they are JAZZ by Ken Burns and Eyes On The Prize...I and many of my generation were spoiled to a extent with not only the golden age of hip hop but we were parented and raised by former Civil rights activists and Black Panthers...in addition those two Documentaries came out in the 80's and 90's and helped shape our thought processes...not to mention the music and culture of the 70's 80's and 90's ...so when I see u positively reacting it's a good thing but also points to the importance of parents passing down all the wealth of our struggle movements heritage history and culture...which I think many black parents and the school either supresses, doesn't know or considers, ignores and or drops the ball on...🤦.

Bootsy & Prince have said publicly they would never let there music be sampled. They said pick up a instrument & make your own music. Rap artist have begged them 2 use there music & offered insane amounts of money. Maybe Bootsy changed his mind because the money was 2 good. I know Bootsy more than Prince could use the money. I know 4 sure if they ever use Prince music I know he & now his estate would have sued...
