I think another thing that is important to consider is your financial situation. When living abroad, if you have debt from your home country you’re gonna need to remember you will be paying those bills. They don’t go away just because you change countries. The foreign currency you make may not even be equal to what you would make in your home country. So you will be sending money back home and loosing a lot. I think if you have debts, living abroad unless the job you will have is going to pay you handsomely is not a wise financial choice.
Depends on the time of debt. If it’s high interest, it’s best to pay that off first. But I have low interest federal student loans and the minimum payment is low, so it wouldn’t be that hard to pay if I worked abroad.
Lindsey - recommending to not be too shy to talk to people Me - American, of a culture where people will talk to complete strangers like we've known them for years. I see this as an absolute win for us....
The advice you give here is great. It's even great advice if you're moving someplace within the same country. I have only ever lived in the U.S. and I love where I live now, in upstate New York, but the one regret I have about the place I chose is that it is not on the bus line. That makes transportation very expensive when I go places myself and need to use Uber.
Thanks! Pretty comprehensive for something high level. One thing I thought would be interesting to drill down on was what to do if you get sponsored and you hate the company you end up at for one reason or another. For.me and I'm sure others, this can be a source of some anxiety since you lack local knowledge and knowledge sharing avenues, all while the company sponsoring you often has a lot of leverage over you, so I think this is certainly a source of hesitation for me. A video on what to do to avoid this situation, and what to do if you end up in it would be awesome, especially if you've had this experience yourself. I'd like to go to Singapore, so at least for me alone, specifics about that experience would still be useful even if they're not generalisable too ;)
Great video! Would love a more in-depth video about every country you’ve lived in and what caused you to want to move there and to leave as well. Love your content always!
I am not sure if you have made a video like this before. But make one related to finding jobs for language learners, sharing your experience will be very helpful for many out there.
Hi Lindie! I'd like to move abroad when I grow up but I'm not sure how to tell it to my parents because I know they'll deny me and also everytime I think about that I feel really bad because my family is sick right now, my loved ones have diabetes and I can't afford even think about that posibility and that lonely future for my loved ones. I don't know what to do. Please advice me!!!
Sometimes I wish to move abroad, but I need a very good opportunity, because I won’t left my country to have worse then my current life. Brazilian Real value has been low. I like Singapore, but cost of living is high and is impossible hold a car, hahaha.
I skipped most of these steps when I moved to Romania from South Africa 😅 when I arrived here it just clicked with me. The people are friendly and hospitable, the climate is relatively similar to what I had in SA (the winters might be colder but I actually like that a lot with the snow) and job wise I'm working with my husband, so everything here was already sort of ready for me, I just had to get the visa and move in basically 😅
What would you recommend for freelancers and business owners who can work as digital nomads? I have a job that I do fully online, no strings attached, and im not looking to get a job anytime soon. Could you share your experience on taxation on private enterprise as an expat?

How timely! Your video arrived while I’m doing a personnel exchange in a country I’m considering moving to. Thank you!
Good timing!
I'm from the UK, Live in Australia and planning on moving to Norway asap, currently learning the language as fast as possible
Sometimes I think of live in Australia, but rents are paid per week, instead per month. 😮
Thanks! Pretty comprehensive for something high level.

Heh. I did get sponsored and the company was terrible. I applied to a new company and they transferred my employment pass over to the new company.

It's so good to see you
Can you make a video about of foreign homes? Because there are difference between a Japanese and South African regular houses.

You can leave in cheaper countrys like Argentina, Thailand, Russia and etc.
okay, but like, where is your favorite place to live so far?
Also can you drop the resources you've used in different countries? housing, job search, making friends, etc
