You haven't heard Stephanie Mills until you hear her sing "Home." You haven't heard singing until you here her sing "Home." She sang in the original Broadway Play, the Wiz. She had the leading role as Dorothy.
...with Take 6 singing background. Clyde McKnight is in the group & younger brother Brian McKnight almost joined. They are fabulous, but I'm glad Brian went solo.
Jayvee I'm glad that u guys did the long version of this song cuz u wouldn't have heard that beautiful ending. This song is a classic Disco R & B Song. This was her best song that I luved from her. She has a wonderful voice. I did my Aunt & Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary N I used this song on my Pic Video I Did. They luved it. Stephanie Mills has lots of great hits like What Cha Gonna Do with My Lovin' (video), I Feel Good All Over, (You're Puttin') A Rush On Me (video), Two Hearts featuring Teddy Pendergrass, Put Ur Body In It, Sweet Sensation, The Medicine Song (video), Starlight. All these songs were classic n u guys will enjoy her music.
JAYVE.... SO GLAD YOU CHOSE THIS INCREDIBLE SONG BY AND INCREDIBLE ARTIST...... I ACTUALLY WON THE DANCE CONTEST AT MY HS PROM TO THIS SONG IN 1981, WHAT I FOUND OUT YEARS LATER, WAS THE SONG WAS NOT ABOUT BEING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE, BUT STEPHANIE MILLS RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD... IT BLEW MY MIND & I LOVED THE SONG EVEN MORE...
Bro... you just hit a gold mine of songs. She always starts out slow and hits you hard by the end. She is also Michael Jackson's first girlfriend. Man ... I'm so happy right now... you about to love her.
From Colombia, South América. This is my all time favorite song...the song of my life. What many people do not know is that this song is completely dedicated to God. Thank you for reacting to the best song in this universe.
Maravilloso.
What a great song! Always lifts my spirit when I hear it. Shalamar - "A Night to Remember", Evelyn "Champagne" King - "Love Come Down" and The Deele - "Two Occasions" are some other 80's R&B classics worth a listen.
You have to get up and dance with these songs I dance to this in the 80s and I'm now 74 and I still had to get up and dance to this song we had just the best music 60s 70s 80s before it all turned to rap and talking fast and no more music you guys really missed out on some great great concerts but it's pretty amazing that you can still see them and hear them online
Stephanie Mill has an Amazing voice! Thank YOU Jay, for all the joy, laughter, memories, and most of all, your genuine and honest, reactions....You do more than listen, you feel it with your heart and soul, and it shows! I wish you continued success on your channels, and in all that you do!! Thank you! 💙
Oh Jay!!! I never realized you haven't heard Stephanie Mills yet!😲 You're in for something great. Next by her you need to hear Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin
Jayvee, your smiling, joyous and enthusiastic response to this Stephenie classic was truly beautiful beyond and a blessing to behold. You really are the loveliest man handsome. Love and the very best of wishes to you today and always from the admiring man-fan in London UK.
Thank you for your great reaction. Just watching you listen to this amazing song and talking about being happy - made me happy as well! Smiling from ear to ear now.. ☺️🧡

You have to hear Stephanie sing "Home" live from Sinbad's Summer Jam. She was on Broadway in the Wiz and she has a powerful voice so definitely need to do "Home"
Stephanie Mills is an amazing talented! Not only is she an amazing vocalists, she is an accomplished Broadway actress, she starred in The Wiz among others! She and her friend, the amazing Chaka Khan, did a Verzuz battle not long ago! She still performs and looks and sounds great! Fun fact: She was briefly (1980-1983) married to Jeffrey Daniel of the R&B group, Shalamar!❤️❤️
Just as everyone is suggesting, "Home" is a must -- it truly showcases Stephanie's voice. Another favorite of mine is "The Power of Love." IMAO, Ms. Mills' voice is incomparable!!!
Love watching Jay's reactions!! In this one, you would've thought she was singing to him with that huge smile on his face!! I hope you have a lovely like that, Jay!!!!!!
As a 70/80's R&B old timer, I can really appreciate that you enjoyed this song a lot, boss! Also, as someone whose been in love in the past but not presently, your point is very well taken. This song sends out good vibes to you regardless of your present love situation.
You have no idea how massive this was across the globe in the clubs- it was played at least twice a night in every nightclub whether in NY Paris or London and believe me I was there to testify.
Long live disco! Beautiful songs like this were packing dance floors in clubs. This song, like many disco songs, is incredibly inspirational. Perhaps she is singing about her relationship to a person, perhaps she is singing about her spiritual relationship with the Creator. The latter is what is has always meant to me.
Her 1 and only Grammy was for this song. She also has 1 award in all music industry award shows that her genre of music would fall in. My brother, that look of sheer joy in your eyes and on your face explains why she won them all. Not many songs/voices can bring this unadulterated bliss, soul and sexiness out. 💯👍🎤🔥🌡🧨🎼🎧
Yes she is a living legend!! And has lots of classic hits. You are in for a treat, listen to her songs called “Home”, “Whatcha gonna do with my lovin”, and “I Feel good all over”
Every time I hear this song it actually brings a tear to my eye because all I can think about are my two children. I literally get a mental slideshow of images of them throughout their lives. I never knew I could love anything as much as I do them.
I guarantee that Jayvee can't hold back the tears the first time he hears "Home." I'm not saying boo hoo tears, but literal tears from being overwhelmed by the beauty that eminates from her heart when she sings this song.
Yes Lord!!! Thank you for putting my girl on. One of the most underrated singers of the last four decades. This is my favorite song by her and hearing her song it live is amazing. Check out her singing live at the Apollo Theater or live doing Sinbads love in Aruba. This lady can blow.🎶🎵🎼🎹💗. Rumor has it she was sing about Michael Jackson because they were dating each other.
Dude I been waiting a minute to see you hear this woman. Told you how amazing she is. Now you gots to hear "If I Was Your Woman". Best thing she ever did fr.
Stephanie is an icon. Every since she debuted on Broadway as Dorthy in the The Wiz in 1975 she was a forced to be reckoned with. She has many hits…you should review her performance of “Home” live at the Apollo…it’s pure 🔥. th-cam.com/video/ZCCq2MnYxwE/w-d-xo.html
This song always makes me feel like roller skating! Definitely check out Stephanie's songs "Home" and "I Feel Good All Over". Sheis an AMAZING vocalist!!
Stephanie Mills is a legendary Soul/R&B diva, and this was Stephanie’s greatest hit, even hit the pop charts, it had a disco beat but was released in 1980 after the disco era. It was produced by James Mtume, who had a big R&B funk hit with a song called “ Juicy Fruit”( you should check that out). The beat and the sound was signature for Mtume, easily recognizable, and he wrote and produced many hits for Stephanie Mills, his signature sound became her signature sound for much of the 80’s. If this want to see her now, watch the Chaka Khan Vs Stephanie Mills Versus…
She has such an amazing voice. I love love this song. It makes me want to sing and you are right it just makes you happy. She was the original Dorthy in the Broadway musical the Wiz.
Yes, the If I were Your Woman era was definitely a good one for her. She had 4 songs in the top 10 and two No.1 hits, Set a record for 14 back to back sold out shows at the Apollo, A Successful tour, naacp awards.
I remember being little and my mom playing this record and singing and dancing while cleaning up. I grew up on Stephanie and still love her TO THIS DAY
In the 1990s I was at a conference in Chicago,, and went to see the Broadway touring company of The Wiz. During the intermission there was a long line for the lady's rest room. Standing in line were mostly black mothers with their daughters. I listened as all the moms were explaining to the girls about the breakthrough of Stephanie Mills in the Wiz on Broadway 20 year earlier. Stephanie and The Wiz were an important part of their cultural heritage.
She played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz on Broadway but lost out to Diana Ross for the lead role of The Wiz which starred her boyfriend at the time Michael Jackson. She is pure class and always speaks very well of MJ.
Correct in a way but I just have to say it never really was her losing to Diana it was more so forced. It be a lost if Diana and Stephanie both auditioned and the directors and etc came together and were like okay which of these girls should get the role of Dorothy and they agreed on Diana. But it didn’t happen like that instead I don’t think either of them auditioned, Stephanie was heavily considered because the Broadway show was highly popular which gave her a lot of publicity and popularity but when Diana found out who was in charge of the movie which was her at the time lover she was able to go around his back and slip her way into the role with her massive star power. I still think Diana did an amazing job as Dorothy but of course I feel Stephanie should have had the role but I mean who cares because it didn’t stop her it just elevated her and now she’s a award winning singer, actress and music legend!!
You haven't heard Stephanie Mills until you hear her sing "Home." You haven't heard singing until you here her sing "Home." She sang in the original Broadway Play, the Wiz. She had the leading role as Dorothy.
That is what I was about to say
...with Take 6 singing background. Clyde McKnight is in the group & younger brother Brian McKnight almost joined. They are fabulous, but I'm glad Brian went solo.
I don't believe Home was in the stage musical. Have you seen stage version? I haven't but read the song was just in movie.
nearly as good as whitneys version
@@Kelly-just-kelly Both are good but there is a reason why everyone relates the song to Stephanie Mills. Nothing at all off Whitney.
Jayvee I'm glad that u guys did the long version of this song cuz u wouldn't have heard that beautiful ending. This song is a classic Disco R & B Song. This was her best song that I luved from her. Correct. It is about her relationship with The Lord. Love it!!!
