If you haven't heard, I have a brand new e-course! It's called 'Flower Power' and it's all about defining your own style as a watercolor artist. Check it out at: www.shaydacampbellcourses.com
can you list all the flowers name in the video in Chronological order? the kid I'm tutoring needs to draw natural wild plants that grow without Human touch hence I need the names since I'm telling her to draw these flowers
I'm 74 and have never doodled in my like and am trying to learn to paint also. This is sooo helpful and I'm getting the hang of these almost right off! Thank you so much
This video is a great guide. What I also did was stop and Google each flower and really take it in and then see you how draw them and then go back to the actual flower photo and do my interpretation of the actual flower. This I feel will help me to develop my own style for florals.
Hello, my name is Brodie Yoo and I am eight and I think this one was one of the best drawing videos thank you for teaching me how to draw flowers 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I’m using my iPad to watch this video. After enlarging the screen I zoomed in manually and was able to watch each drawing easily. What a wonderful video. I never thought I could draw and with these wonderful instructions my flowers are looking great. Thank you for sharing your instructions with us!
This is my first time watching you. I was drawn to the way you hold your pencil. I taught school for 30 years and was always trying to figure out a way to get my little ones to hold a pencil "correctly" until a fellow teacher told me to take notice of adults and how many different ways people hold their pens while writing. I was a amazed at the many ways!! You are a perfect example of letting go of form and do what is comfortable for you. It is the final product not the way you get there. So true with so many other things too. Once I gave up trying to force a grip on a child and focused on the product life was so much easier for all of us. Love your tutorials. Thank you.
I've always noticed that and even thought it could be something local. I tried to hold my pencil like that, thinking that maybe I could draw better! Nope. 😁
I noticed that too. I injured my hand a few years ago and ended up having to have surgery. It made doing art very painful for a while. When I saw how she held the pencil I wished I had seen or thought of that before. As my hand is still rather sore and may always be I will for sure try it.
@@fyreflyskye8831 Look at all of the adaptive techniques people have to use for a million different reasons. Keep thinking,,,,,,,,what ever works. Good luck to you.
I hold my pencil the same way and noticed it too! I was always told growing up that I was holding it wrong. Yet then and now, I have better handwriting than most my peers and am very artistic :)
I love that you are always reminding us that it doesn't have to be perfect. I always try to make things so perfect that i forget to learn and have fun doing it, so thank you for saying that so often!
You are one of the very few TH-cam art instructors who drops gems of wisdom continuously in you videos & without a syrupy, cutesy, ego-saturated voice using words like 'super' & 'just go on and' in every other sentence. You're a natural. Your shooting distance is just fine. Keep making these wonderful guides please in your own refreshing way. (I hope you 🙅 the criticism.) ☺️🤸✌️
Hi Shayda. I’m a 4th grade teacher who lives in Sweden, originally a N. American. History, Math, Language... these are normal subjects for me. But when my headmaster told me I’d be teaching art this year I thought I’d croak! ART! Are you kidding. You have been an invaluable source of inspiration and instruction this year... You, Bob Ross, and Wennie from Draw so cute. I’ve even used your videos as English/Art interdisciplinary lessons, to keep kids actively listening. So, thank you for what you have done for me this year, both personally and in my profession!
@@TheCosmicNote Thank you! I have reached some very unanticipated goals... we split the group into boys and girls (for very practical reasons last week)... so I had 10 boys painting watercolor roses... they did great! And it opened up such great conversation among them, when no girls were there! They admitted how fun it was, and told me they hadn’t finished practicing on regular copy paper when I offered them a piece of Canson cold-pressed! They wanted to make sure they were ready for that piece of REAL paper... so cute, so respectful, so careful... I was thrilled for them!
I did the first 6 in one seating. I loved the results! Your speed of operation is not an issue for me as I can pause and rewind as I please. Thanks you for letting me listen to your beautiful calming voice, it makes the process even more wholesome.
I can't wait to start drawing these for my first time... I was not to good in art class... but now that I am older and want to start bullet journaling and other things...I thought it would be good to learn to draw some things... I love flowers...especially the rose... wish me luck...
you explain very well... especially since you show the process from the beginning... soft geometric pencil marks, then more pronounced pencil marks, aproaching the final form. I LIKE!!! 🙂
I know you put this out on Fri. and I started to watch it but stopped myself. This is why, today is my birthday, and I want this for my treat!! And so it was!!! Thank You for all you do for us :)
Wonderful video, thank you. Isn't it weird how many people think that they need to comment negatively? I'll never understand that part of our society. Lovely work, thanks again for sharing it.
Hi Shayda. Always wanted to draw and finally decided (in my old age) to pursue it. For the first time ever I was able to draw flowers that actually resemble the real thing. Thank you so much.
I two am returning in my senior years, after having polio a second time, I am wanting to learn over. It will be good for my hands. I would like to say thank you too😊
I like your teaching method; you explain everything in such a simple way that it's easy to follow along, and it's easy enough to stop the video and work on each flower, then move on to the next one. I appreciate, too, that whatever little bit of background music there might be is so low key that it doesn't interfere with your voice.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this amazing artwork! I spent all my day imitating you and I feel very happy to make the same flowers the same way you did, even though I still have a problem with leaves :-D ! God bless you Shayda and I really enjoy watching you... much love from Tunisia
I drew that first flower it is the best little flower I've ever drew! Thank you for that! I was never able to draw it again but I really love that little picture! thank you again!
thank you so much for this!! i grew up a toxic masculine mindset and thought flowers are "girly" (now i know there is nothing wrong with girly and embracing your femininity!!). this is my first time trying to draw flowers and you help so much, it was fun and calming and so clear ❤️
Just followed along. The first flower and the buttercups were so cute, the rest I murdered them 😆 🙊 ooh I finally made a somewhat decent rose for the first time in my life! Thanks.
Thank you so much for the way you make this type of practise so accessible. I was a very keen "artist" when younger but went the way of craft and design and would love to go back to flower and plant drawing. This has really given me hope of being able to achieve something worthwhile.
You explained these so well. Thank you! I do agree with zooming in for the pencil as well, but glad you zoomed in for the ink. I am watching on a 55 inch TV & the pencil was still hard to see. I will try a couple of these. I can't draw to save me, but would like to learn.
This is so useful and your flowers are lovely. Just a note on parts though! The single *stigma* is the female part that sticks up higher than the many *stamen* (plural) which are the male parts surrounding it holding the pollen.
The more I watch (repeatedly)... the more I learn, and with lots of practice it starts to feel easier, you're a good teacher. Thank you, much appreciated! ;-)
Hi Shayda. This video was great way of showing that it is up to the artist as to how they would like to portray what they see in nature. Also, it reminds me of my early days when I used to be obsessed with my paintings being perfect. As you rightly said nothing needs to be perfect. Imperfection is the beauty. Thank you for this illustration, it was great to see you to putting it down in a simple way. Looking forward to more videos.
This was really helpful, I appreciated seeing all the pencil guide marks. It helped me understand the decision making for petal placement, lovely work!
I've been going through an art block ever since I've been busy with college. And then today I stumbled upon this video and I thought I'd follow along with you and draw. Let me tell you it was so therapeutic and it made me happy just to following along with you. Thank you so much :) Can't wait to learn through your videos and find my love for art again!

Absolutely!! Too hard to see!
Right
Yeh
Yeap..! Hard too see.....They should set the camera more zoomed or closely...😞😕
Agree :( made me give up and not watch this
I love that you are always reminding us that it doesn't have to be perfect. I always try to make things so perfect that i forget to learn and have fun doing it, so thank you for saying that so often!
Yes! Thank you for writing that comment, I really relate. I was taught everything had to be perfect, which is sooo counter productive!
I agree☺️
Beautiful family
Beautiful flowers drawing
Same here, when I try doddling somewhere in minds , a sound is there saying it's not what I usually do 😂 do it with more precision 😀

I was about to say I see it fine but then I realized I’m looking from my tv 🤦🏻♀️

Shayda: and that's it, we're all done! This is 12 flower doodles that I know you can master.
Me: w-wait... my brain can't follow you--.
(I know I can pause the video, but it was funny how I basically took 20 mins for the first flower)
I hear ya! Me too!
haha, me too...still on chamomile and she is closing the video...
Ikrrr! Do you have an insta account where you draw?
I think that mine took me like 5-10. Never tried this style of art before, or any style really

LOVED THIS! Definitely using these guidelines.. usualyy I just go in and start trying to draw it without utilization basic shapes first! 💕
Thank you for explaining the process as you’re drawing these flowers. As a beginner this is so helpful!
You are such a good artist that my teacher used this as an example video to watch in class lmao
Thanks Shayda. I hadn't drawn before and i worked through your twelve flowers - it was amazing. i had to go back a few times and still meed to practise. Thanks
OMG this is exactly what I need!!!! I love your style so much!
I watched and drew the flowers over a year ago and it was great. Very helpful and my flowers looked pretty good. I forgot to like so liking now!!
Omg the way she’s holding the pencil is driving me to flashbacks of being smacked with a ruler in grade school!!!
yes me too. but i just recogmised that many illustrators who could draw well are holding pen not so well
Ya u ar right
Its painful to watch.
Meee too, it’s annoying to see an adult holding a pen like that.
Holding it like this is actually not as cramped as I imagined by looking at it. But, all movement has to come from the wrist and you have to move the whole hand with each tiny stroke. When you hold the pen by your thumb, index and middle finger, small moves are made with those fingers and you can steady your hand with the side of the palm and your pinky. Much better control
Brilliant. Not only did I learn how to draw the flowers-I learned their names! Thank you!
Me I’m ready to draw flowers! Eraser: this is my last day on earth
I really enjoyed this video.
Is simple, and easy to follow.
Shayda`s voice is super calm and relaxing.
Thank you! 😃
Beautiful collection of flowers. These are so simple. Loved this one so much!
Thanks babe! They really are simple once you break them down into little steps. Have a great weekend 😊💕
Lilock lol, sorry, I do love this video. This is the content I crave. Show me, step by step, then I can twist it and make it my own. If I just see the picture finished I usually end up copying it and I’d rather not. I prefer to learn how to make my own.
It would be neat to see a reference photo of each flower in the upper left-hand corner as you are drawing each. Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing.
Thankyou for this lesson I noticed the way you hold your pen thats interesting way of holding the pen brilliant 👍😎
I love this!! Thankyou for making these so easy to learn, I've never seen anyone use a guide like this, amazing!✨👏🏻
This was a lot of fun, flowers are one of my favorite things to draw.
This helped me a lot I’m 10 and my drawing now look like artist Drew it
Awesome! What is your favorite thing to draw? 😊
an artist did draw it - YOU!
You go girl!
You are the artist hunny! 💛👌

i love gladiolas too!!!! they are my fav,i have all colors in my garden!
I come here as a beginner then I realize this is a beginner for an intermediate level. *cries in the corner*
So simple! Just wiggled my pencil around, and it came out beautifully! No joke.
Thank you!!❤
it's easy to draw a jagged line when you've had as much coffee as I've had today 😎
