I recall seeing a few of them on the actual show. They tried to punk Bill Goldberg, but the stunt failed. Something about running over his parked motorcycle with a truck or something like that. I also recall them freely admitting that they'd failed to punk people and this was the third (or whatever) attempt. Some of the episodes were pretty funny.

I remember watching Punk'd very skeptically, because at a certain point in almost every episode I wondered where's the security team, where's the cops, or how is nobody getting stomped right now? Also, how are they getting these clean, perfectly framed reaction shots from multiple angles without anyone noticing cameras, and how does nobody recognize these pranksters? Idk how many times my brother would mention that if something weird happened to him and he saw a person that looked like any of those punk'd actors, nobody would be able to convince him it was really happening lol

Reading these comments tells that people didn't even watch this video. Yes this show was edited and "faked" but in these examples (in the video) you see that they made it look less harmful. Usually when reality shows fake they add more drama and make it look more dangerous.
And of course they cut all pranks that did not succeed but that is obvious.

I’m a musician and technically a B-list celebrity, I guess, and although I wasn’t the featured “victim”, I was in a 2005 Punk’d episode, along with my friend, who was the featured (much more famous lol) celebrity. And I can assure you that, provided most of the episodes are as orchestrated as the one I was in, the reactions and the pranks themselves are just as scripted as any tv show I’ve ever been a part of. We were given a script, which just more or less contained general instructions, but very few specific lines. The whole experience had a very improv type of vibe…but I have to say, it was a pretty cool experience.

The 2012 revival sucked because often times the person getting punk'd wasn't even aware of who the host was when the prank was revealed. Obviously they probably re-edited the reactions to make it look like they knew them, but you could tell on some of their faces and their reactions, they didn't react like how someone would if they really knew those people.

The Justin Timberlake episode was by far the best one. Had he gone inside and looked around ONE TIME he'd immediately see that none of his stuff was being repossessed. Not to mention the huge TV cameras and lights everywhere. People say that one went too far, but it was Justin's own fault for apparently not knowing his financial status at the time. Fake or not the whole lawsuit with that manager guy who screwed over Nsync and the Backstreet Boys was going on then, so I'm willing to believe there was at least some real emotion behind it.

I've seen plenty of "reality" shows without trying because it was on someone else's TV or I was channel surfing, and they were at least as fake as Punk'd. For reality I prefer science and history lectures and documentaries. Not that those are free from fakery and error. Not much that people do is. It's good to expose it wherever we find it, so thanks for this piece. Seeing shouldn't automatically be believing even in person because the hand is quicker than the eye. And video footage can be edited or even CGI.

as a normal person you for some reason dont think about it being faked, especially when the celeb is seen "calling the shots" like ashton was but if you dig a little into how tv and movies work, you soon find out that 99% of everything you see is fake as fuck no matter how genuine it looks. im in that area where i know enough about hollywood that i know its all fake bs for money and ratings and nothing is ever real no matter what they say.
