The conventional planting material of pomegranate is the air- layered saplings from existing mature trees. Large number of mother plants is required to produce sufficient saplings the maximum number of air layers per tree is 100-150.
Pomegranate cell and tissue culture is not easy and regeneration from existing meristems and vegetative and reproductive plant parts have also been attempted with some noteworthy success. Effect of cytokinins and adenine sulphate on shoot proliferation in pomegranate.

కానీ ,చెట్టు జీవితకాలం ఎంత, ఎన్ని సంవత్సరాలు పంట దిగుబడి వస్తుంది చెప్పలేదు. మాఏరియాలో 6 సం. దిగుబడి వస్తుంది.తరువాత చెట్లు ఎండిపోయి చనిపోతాయి.
