    Alcuni libri dicono cose opposte.
    I like cooking.
    I like to cook.
    E anche: tutti i libri dicono che much e many si usano in frasi negative ed interrogative, a lot of in frasi affermative. Ma vedo many in tante frasi affermative. Qual è la regola corretta?
    Grazie in anticipo

      @@marudebaka6041 grazie della risposta. Alcuni libri però fanno una distinzione netta: verbi come like, love, hate o enjoy sono seguiti sempre dalla -ing form, quindi dire I like to play per alcuni è sbagliato.

    • @marudebaka6041

      @@pasqualemorsilli4755 'I like to play basketball,' 'I like to play the piano,' etc, are all perfectly fine in American English. You could say 'I like playing basketball,' and that is also grammatically correct.
      They mean essentially the same thing. If there is a difference, it is a subtle nuance (sfumature?). If somebody asked 'What do you like to do in your spare time?' I might say 'i like to play basketball.' If somebody said to me, 'You have been playing basketball for five hours' I might replay 'I like playing basketball.'
      In the latter example I am giving a rationale for my extended play. But I could also have said 'I like to play basketball,' and it would mean almost exactly the same thing.
