Hey Nick!!!!! Awesome, I know you'll enjoy it, Dr. Rašić is such a refreshing and erudite guest, and totally expanded my knowledge of Jinn. Cheers, Nick! _Alex
Excellent show. Dr Rašić is a great thinker, delving into many aspects of the realm of the djinn which isn't usually referenced as broadly as she does. Great stuff.
@Glitch Bottle Thank you both very much for this fascinating dive into the mystical world of Sufic Esotericism. I learned many new things in this discussion! I do have a few questions, from the point of view of the Eternal spirit, would not the Jinn as well as many other hosts of beings in the body of the cosmos be considered ultimately illusory, since they have a temporal life span? As opposed to the Spirit of Human beings which can go beyond this material realm and the cycles of incarnation to exist forever with free will and full conscious awareness of Self? Another question: Can the Djinn be considered as very similar or even synonymous to, the classes of beings in Celtic lore known as the Elves, sprites, pixies and the two courts of the Fae? Based on what I listened to here they seem remarkably alike, especially the dopplegangers being like the changelings of the Fae folk. Much appreciated guys 🌟🔥❤️
Many cheers and thank you for the follow up questions! So glad you enjoyed the talk. I will defer to Dr. Rasic on any follow-ups, but, as usual, very stimulating for other lines inquiry!
Just starting to watch this episode. The relationship of the second primordial soul has been my focus for many years. In shamanism it's seen as a lower world soul that comes to the body at age three and leaves the body three days after death. I've always seen it as our Jinn self and perform rituals based on marrying it fully with our celestial natured self. This is what is the true nature of the twin flames. The fire of the two souls born into existence forever seeking each other out.
I would have to disagree about making flowers bloom being pointless. Beauty for the sake of beauty makes all the sickness and suffering of this plain go away for a moment, if you let it envelope you in that stillness, and know it. Beauty can be the most powerful magick a person can conjure. Other than that your work is incredible and I am a huge fan. Thank you
"Beauty for the sake of beauty makes all the sickness and suffering of this plain go away for a moment, if you let it envelope you in that stillness, and know it." I assure you that the children dying/watching their family die, in Gaza arent gonna have their pain washed away by a god damn flower. Im not saying flowers dont have a purpose. But you're putting a lot of metaphysical weight into something quite mundane. Plants gotta procreate somehow...
I really don't want to claim expertise, but as a devout Muslim and lover of Ibn Arabi I find some of this pretty incredulous. It really doesn't have much resonance with my interpretation of Ibn Arabi. Please forgive me Dr Rasic, but would I be correct in assuming that this analysis has been compiled from a wide variety of sources not simply Ibn Arabi and Al-Qur'an? There is no harm in using a wide variety of sources, but so much of what you speak of seems to be influenced by a Salafi interpretation of Islam. Again, perfectly acceptable, but this is as much influenced by Christian demonology (Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost) as Islam itself and rather than Sufi traditions. As you suggest Islam is a broad masjid, it is therefore unfortunate that Salafi's go out of their way to suggest the opposite in the most forceful manner.
Interesting (and important!) thoughts and observations! Would you like to expand on the differences between "Salafi"/other "now considered mainstream" interpretations and those simply of Ibn Arabi and the Holy Quran? Thank you!
I am not sure how to respond to you. Are you attempting to suggest that Salafi's are now considered mainstream? If so respectfully I would suggest you check your understanding of Islam, the Pew Research Centre is a good starting point.
@TheMagicofJava Your comment indicates your familiarity with the primary sources is limited to English translations of Fuṣūṣ al-ḥikam at best. Reading al-Futūḥāt al-Makkiyya from cover to cover should make things look familiar but... ..."Salafi interpretation of Islam"? Are you for real? I mean no disrespect but do you even know what is Salafi view on Sufism, jinn and magic (a small hint: the polar opposite of the Akbarian views being discussed in the video).
@@TheMagicofJava I believe you are devout. I am very, very sorry but... You really have a lot to learn on the conservative Salafi movement and Akbarians. Any scholarly work, even Wikipedia would do for starters.
If, placebo is a necessay regulator of scientific process, which has a hold over scientific validity, how would you, Dr Dunja, voice...given the power of voice...voice your opinion to the question....is religion based on the placebo effect. I would like to hear your answer sister.
Yeah sometimes, Jinn can come in many forms even addictions can be associated with Jinn i.e. seeing you suffer and be lead astray. Unaliving ones self aswell, Manic depression, Schizophrenia...but its not always the case, in the middle east though from a religeous outlook anything bad is normally associated with a jinns wrath or the shaytan, iblis satan etc.
just to add same with getting angry for example thats why its important to have good thoughts, do good deeds use good words, because doing other than that feeds that demon preying on your thoughts and lack of using your free will with good conscious, to make you hurt those around you and isolate you from the world ultimately but depends how you look at things
Not really if you think about she is teaching about the distractions of the Dunya, lessons for people tempting to play with the unseen in the Dunya. I think its kinda fitting, what do you think would be a more suitable name for curiosity sake? lol
Hadith Qudsi are not the words of the prophet Muhammad. It is the words of Allah, but is not the quran. Allah spoke these words only to the prophet that is not meant to be included into the quran.
Absolutely riveting interview from start to finish.
Dr Dunja Rasic is passionate and fascinating.
And the presenters arabic accent is too good !! I'm very impressed.
Thank you so much, an honor to chat with the good doctor! Much obliged! _Alex

That’s Ibn Arabi’s opinion, not necessarily that of the podcast host or guest.

Jinn king of thursday and jupiter Shamhurish is reported to be a benevolant judge towards humans,is this not the case?
Random question: Could there be connection between Jin. Doppelgängers and Borderline Personality disorder?
Or just personality disorders in general
Maybe the dark triad (psychopaths and narcissists)?
