Thanks for Erich Hartman line. Never knew about this man until today. It's always good to know your history as well as the people (i.e. Nazis) who hate your kind based on race.
Royce, I misheard you the first time & replayed track again to hear the line properly. Ms. Baartman story saddened me but happy I know it now. The Eric Cartman reference to cartoon (South Pk.) was genius.
@Lukas Ashton why though? 😂😅
Isn't there supposed to be a second part to this joint? Gotta keep that same beat while concluding this masterpiece. Y'all Ripped that shit.

Still never heard a weak Benny verse.

That's so scary to me.

Royce SO SNAPPED in this song.
Ayo listen tho, and this is the thing...
Royce as ALWAYS BEEN this nice (i.e. GREAT, LEGENDARY, ICONIC, EPIC) Since my childhood. He hasn't ever been one that has had to evolve in the tense of the word. 5'9 is the rap I Am. The real Rap God.
Welcome to my world folks.
Shits so smooth and spot on..
Royce's intro is how you hold your listener's attention....respect
I rewinded that a few times just to catch all that. Real thought provoking type shit.
Captain Obvious yup. He mentioned it in overcomer too, “Mike got sniped by a laser at exactly 6 at night” referring to the assassination of Michael Jackson, who supposedly was about to go on a tour where he was going to attempt to expose the Hollywood pedophilia rings

When Em and Royce are on the same track I can't decide who's verse is better. When you really listen to 5'9's lyrics it hits way deeper than Em's but Em's flow takes me to the after life and back
True, in all honesty, royce was absolute garbage back in the days, having this friendly competition with eminem has made him a top top tier lyricist

No matter how much recognition royce gets, he'll always be underrated.
That's not how it works, bro.
That's doesn't even makes senses
Only to people who aren't true fans think he's overrated
They picked the wrong thumbnail for this man 🤦🏽♂️ so many people wont click on it because it doesn't even look like it's for a Royce video
Is he underrated or is the rest of the game overrated?
Royce is probably hip hop's greatest dark horse ever. Hardly anyone knows his music, truly. But his verses on each of his last projects (Bar Exam mixtapes, BME, PRhryme I & II, Layers, Book of Ryan, Allegory) has been nothing short of lyrical mastery!
I've never seen sobriety affect creativity in such a positive manner. Royce has always had top notch rhyme skemes and flow, but his subject matter has been elevated 10 fold.
Ever since PRhyme 1 it's been nothing but up hill for this guy.
As a recovering alcoholic and hip hop head I love the example that Royce is. He was already dope but he as got even better with each year of sobriety. He is now legitimately top tier status. Plus he taught himself to make beats and they are also top tier. He is a great example of what is possible with sobriety.
The mind is a powerful thing!.
this is facts, was thinking the same thing. motivating me to get completely sober and stop using to be inspired as an excuse.

"Black woman want to be built like cartoon characters. Eric Cartman. That is a striking resemblance to Sarah Baartman."
As a proud South African and a fan of Royce Da 5'9, I find it amazing that he used a historical figure (from my country of birth) in his artistic reference of how black women (I.E. Instagram models) today would do butt implants for the purpose of getting vain validation and money on social media. Prostituting themselves for likes and views quite frankly.
The irony or juxtapose in all of it is Sarah Baartman was a Khoisan woman taken out of her homeland by her White oppressors, all for the purpose of comically parading her body throughout Europe in a manner that violated her human dignity. Hence the title "Upside Down". Our perspectives of what is right or wrong in life have become distorted nowadays.
This was done against her will mind you (by virtue of being enforced to slavery). Just some historical reference for y'all to understand, whilst breaking down that bar.
Thank you for the music and much respect Royce🙏👏 #Genius
While I agree it’s a great line, in my personal opinion he was reaching a little with the comparison to Eric cartman
I educated myself on who Sarah Baartman was a few years ago after she was linked to beyonce. It was mind blowing but not shocking as to what they did to her. Just further proves that europeans was some of thee worst people to ever live!
@@TroubleOnTheWaters I think the Eric Cartman was just the set up for Baartman. I don't think he was describing women as being built like Eric, but rather just throwing a cartoon name out there to set up for the real line.

Don't say Royce getting better with time, just say you been sleeping on him
Stop it. Love what Royce is doing NOW. His music for MOST of his career has been subpar . For a while he focused too much on 'technical' rapping which is why many of the purists/historians respected him but also ignored him. They filed him under the 'tech n9ne' category. He JUST started putting the pieces together with song structure, the right production and actually having something compelling to say.
But he really is getting better with time though. Been listening to him since "Rock City" dudes penmanship is elevated, production elevated everything about him is elevated!
