As for me, one thing to consider too is the culture. I feel like guests at Shanghai are easier to manage/handle with all the precautionary steps for social distancing. Not too sure for the guests here in California/Orlando. I can only imagine how SOME people will react if cast member told them what to do regarding face masks/distancing considering the fact some people here in the US even protest safety precautions. Still hoping for a much more positive outcome but i can't wait for the day to visit the DL as soon as this is all over.
Christian Salamat that’s a good point. I think by the time Disneyland or WDW open, people will be so ready to go that they just might comply with whatever is asked of them.
I understand where you are coming from, but I think most people are respectful and are nervous and will follow the rules. But of course there are always those people who are jerks but they are not the majority 💕
As a Disneyland cast member I have to tell you that you are one of the best Disneyland/Disney TH-camr if not the best there is on TH-cam keep up the good work David and FreshBaked
7:58 We are ready too, David!!! We can't wait and when I showed this to my kids, I saw the dread of the last two months start to fade from their faces, they smiled different for the first time in forever, and I could feel the HOPE in them as we take a step towards a 'normal' again. This made today a great, great day. Thank you!!!
Brian Kunnari There's so much more to deal with than just a virus outbreak. For example my daughter is in marching band. It would crush the lives of so many kids if sports and band can't resume. There will be suicides and major depression and if your kid is dead it doesn't matter how it happened.
B B the virus is here to stay just like every other virus we can’t do anything about it but to slow it down, I don’t wanna live in fear, the economy has to restart cause it’s already causing way bigger problems than the virus smh
BB, I couldn’t agree more! I am so concerned about the ramifications of canceled activities for students and I couldn’t be more aligned!! I’m a marching band geek myself in the day, and my oldest daughter is about to be. She is living without theater which is killing her. For a moment, the thought of Disneyland reopening made them feel excited about something again. And that is good. Love on your daughter and here’s to all of their futures!! ✌🏼
I agree with you! Watching Shanghai just makes me excited to someday go to our parks and willing to comply with any guidelines/protocols they will have. My daughter is a Custodial CM at WDW. We are realizing just how much they are going to be needed when they reopen. Custodial has always been an important Disney role...but it seems it be even more so. She’s excited and ready for that. People have asked me if I feel safe with her working there. I have trust in Disney that they will put every procedure in place that they can to keep their cast members and guests safe.
I think i can say you trust that god has a plan to protect are lives no matter what is going on, we all just got to believe in what he wants in are lives, weather we are alive or not.
My favorite thing at Disneyland was sitting on a bench at the hub where the Walt and Mickey Statue is and I loved hearing children’s excitement and watching families having fun together like Walt envisioned but since capacity is limited where we can sit and stand is limited it seems like this is not the time for me to go back no offense to anybody who wants to go but for those of you who want to go I hope you and your loved ones have a magical day!
You got it exactly right when you said Disney just has to tell me what to wear and what to do, and I'll be there! I wholeheartedly agree! I also hope we, as Americans, abide by the safety rules and procedures that are being worked so hard to establish and maintain. It would be such a shame if the rules weren't followed and the U.S. parks had to close down again. Let's work together!!
Thanks for update! I still don't think Disney will be able to open parks in the US until there's a vaccine/safe treatment. People will not listen to any health regulations Disney has for their openings here. We already have violence over facemasks and social distancing. I hope I am wrong!
So excited to see this working! I feel like Disney is doing a great job. I can't wait to get back to Disneyland, I don't care if I have to wear a mask and social distance.
2 major factors on this one. 1: It's China, you do as you are told or you get arrested. 2: It's China, the photos and footage you are seeing is fully controlled. Neither of these factors will fit in America. Other things to consider is that China has been in strict locked down since January (Shanghai Disney closed on 24th) and they have around 20 new cases a day (it looks like it may be on the rise again), America STILL has over 25 000 NEW cases a DAY. I can't see Disneyland and Disney World opening with those figures as no amount of cleaning or precautions will protect their cast member.
Exactly. We haven’t done the necessary testing & contact tracing to even begin to approach where they are. I think WDW & DLR won’t open until people are willing to accept that there *will be* people in the park that have the virus & are contagious. A lot of comments on these types of videos suggest there already are lots of people happy to take their chances. Probably Passholders that had been accustomed to going whenever they wanted, several times per month. I imagine the withdrawal is real. We only get to fly in and go once a year, so I can be more patient.
@@PeppersGhost55 Your very right, exactly there always risk, i mean no matter what you do, it comes down to your own personal judgement and honestly i think that's what it comes down too.
Peppers Ghost Disneyland has had measles outbreaks. So that shows you just how much people care. They don’t. And unless you are in the hospital no one is keeping you indoors. You are on the honor system. Not exactly safe to reopen in my opinion
Previously I would have been against going for a while. But I am going through Disneyland withdrawals!!! And I think it would be awesome to go to Disney with limited attendance. I haven't been to the parks and experienced that before.
CatnissRose omg I haven’t been since December 17 that’s when my tickets got blacked out and then when my tickets were good to go the coronavirus happen so I haven’t been to Disneyland in over five months but I understand your situation #DisneyWithDrawls
Tony Adams you know what my wife and I haven’t done? Go anywhere except work. She is an RN and I work at the grocery store. You know why? Because those jobs are ESSENTIAL. She doesn’t need her hospital being overwhelmed with morons because they were desperate to go on the Matterhorn. Keep the theme parks CLOSED until it is safe to reopen them.
Definitely agree that this is no time to open the parks and our push to resume life with the current safety measures is going to have consequences. Sharing a story from another time because Catniss is clearly talking nostalgia in this thread not reality. I was in Orlando for 9-11. We were escorted out of Islands of Adventure when the plans crashed. I didn’t really comprehend what happened for a week. Universal gave the entire park of guests, free park hopper passes. Our hotel gave us extra nights and food for free, our rescheduled return flight was free. It was a different time. On 9/13 we went to Magic Kingdom because we were stranded and had prepaid tickets. It felt like this video, it was a rainy day, there were probably less than ten thousand people in the park. Walk on everything. Empty restaurants. We did Space Mountain until we were sick, 8 times in 30 minutes. After the fourth ride the operators just asked if we wanted to go again without even unbuckling. We did every single big ride at least twice. It changed my perception of the parks and made me seek out limited attendance days, Mickey’s Halloween party is our go to for limited capacity experiences. I look forward to the days when we have a vaccine and my family can leave our house again.
I watched the livestream yesterday evening and quickly noticed that as soon as the gates opened, some guests were already taking their masks off/wearing them incorrectly.
Thanks for the video fresh baked, I think this is a step in the right direction for Disney. As a cast member I can’t wait to go back and share the magic with our guests.
I think this looks alright. I would feel safe bringing a family member there and not be so afraid. I even think people who avoided Disneyland for fear of the crowds may feel this would be a reasonable crowd size. There may be unforeseen positives. The show at the castle was very nice. It was wonderful to see all the performers.
Disneyland is much smaller.. so I’m sure less people will be allowed in at first to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing some of that footage. It’s good to visualize the process. I’m ready for sure, i just hope people abide by the rules to make it a good experience for everyone.
Great information as always! You're the best. Just hope we can act right here and do what's asked so we can get open even with limitations. My wife's already designing masks to match our shirts lol
I'm still going to wait a while. Granted my next trip is still off a ways so it's sort of out of necessity. But given the option, I'm just not comfortable yet. I'm not going to judge anyone who wants to go sooner, though. Stay safe and have a wonderful time.
I counted 7 cast members at the meet and greet 😊 Love the spring green shirt, very cheery! Tell Liz we love her and Happy Mother's Day! I agree with the amount of cast members making it feel a bit safer. Walmart freaks me out because people don't maintain that 2m/6 foot distance. Knowing the cast members are keeping order and they are still having meet and greets is good! Maybe with this format of more characters and staff for these we will see some of the more elusive characters out; that could be awesome! Mary Poppins, Burt, and the penguins? All of the 100 Acre Woods gang together instead of separate? The whole group of Splash Mountain/Song of the South as a meet and greet? There could be some really great photo ops with this. Disney princess together, Disney villains together... evil Disney royalty could be their own group even. Lots of cool ideas there. Just an aside, Pixar is doing cooking class videos, maybe a "Bake with Freshed Baked and Pixar" video could be fun? Keep up the good work and the updates! You guys are encouraging and keep us all going.
Makes me think they are character cast who are out of costume, so it's the same number of employees, but just them in a different realm. There were several people there in the crowds who werent wearing masks after getting through the main gates. Lot's who were following protocol but many who were cutting corners.
Seeing all of this gives me a lot of hope for the future. It will be really hard don’t get me wrong. But it shows that even in the dark times Disney will always be there to help us forget about our problems and let us experience just a little bit of magic.
If you have a 40 minute wait. With people 2 meters apart. How long as space will that line be. Slinky dog. Line goes all around Toy story land now. Putting people 6 feet or 2 meters. Will put that line out of toy story land into Star Wars land. In WDW
From what I heard, Shanghai didn’t even book close to the reduced maximum capacity for reopening... which is a smart idea. I’d like to see how it looks in a month on a weekend.
All the feels watching that, still felt like Disney to me even seeing the new protocols, expect kind of for the toy story charcters. I wonder if they should do something like the interactive treat trails at OBB for character meets while they're doing the phased re- openings, if they characters are up on a stage or say on the golden horse shoe balcony maybe you wouldn't need so many CM's, might feel a bit more organic too. You could give speaking chatacters mics so you could still get interaction too, then just one or 2 cm's to make sure guests keep their distance from each other.
FreshBaked. David, Nice to see the park open. I heard that guests enjoyed the first day because there were less crowds and the wait times for rides were not over long. I'm pleased that the park opened with a lot of entertainment, Walt would have been happy. Richard Irvine told a story about Walt and D/Land. After the Wednesday management meeting. Walt was returning back down Main Street. He stopped a cast member and asked. "Where are the motor vehicles"? " On slow day's, Like Wednesday's and Thursday's we don't operate them." Walt said, "We never cut corners at D/Land, we might have guests having their one and only day here. So we alway's give them the full D/Land experience."So he ordered some vehicles out. Three weeks later at the end of his meeting he left the park by walking back down Main St. He was happy to see the motor vehicles back operating. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Thank you to TDREXPLORER for those inside images. So curious to see how Disneyland will execute a reopening in the current environment. I think it will for sure differ from Shanghai, and may take longer to happen.
in terms of comparing wait times, keep in mind the different capacities of every attraction. Rex's Racer has one vehicle that has to be loaded and unloaded, where tron has multiple trains. So in a way, it makes sense
Very selfish of me, but sound like a great time to go the Shanghai Disneyland, but will you be able to return to the good old USA? I will wait for Disneyland USA. Also waiting for Halloween tickets to go on sale.
I’m so happy to hear that Shanghai Disneyland had a successful reopening. Being a Orlando local I’m hoping WDW reopens soon. I’m ready to be back in the parks!
Personally, I would pay a premium to go with reduced crowds like this. Similar to ticketed events like Halloween or after dark events. It seems like they have it under control.
Hi David. Love getting your perspective so thank you. I’m curious, it seems like you may have changed your tune about returning to the parks. A few weeks ago you said you wouldn’t be in a rush to go back. What has changed your mind? Are you blinded by the magic and your desire to go back or is it something the company is doing for health measures? Personally, I would not be eager to go back even with the measures in place, especially in the US (the most infected country on the planet). That’s just me. What changed your mind?
Thank you David! I hope this is the start of things getting back to normal. That said, could you please start putting your opening montage back in your videos?
A couple weeks ago, I didn't think they'd be able to make me feel comfortable to return to a Disney Park. But, I really like what I am seeing! I like the additional Cast Members to help clarify the rules and make sure practices are followed. I actually love the additional space at the show so that people can see the characters more easily. For right now, this is the right move for operations of the parks.
As far as extra cast members there might not be , because if the hours are shorter maybe everyone works the one shift and also if not all of the rides are open then the cast members from the closed rides would be working the areas that were open as well as the meet and greet
Just saw that L.A. county is extending "for sure" the stay at home order well into August. In theory, this should also apply to Disneyland California but I agree that what we are seeing here is a likely model to follow if opening soonish with no vaccine in sight.
Ironically, I'd love to be able to visit any Disney park with such low crowds. However, given what's going on right now - I'll be the first one to welcome big crowds again. Keep the faith David!
I LOVE Disneyland, as I have since I was a child. I proposed to my wife there and our kids love it as much, but we need some perspective here. Disneyland fun, when even just yesterday 24,000 new cases and nearly 1000 people died from COVID-19, is a non starter. Of course we all long for things to return to some semblance of normalcy, but going to Disneyland and WDW (if new cases and deaths continue anywhere near these numbers) just feels very wrong. We had a huge family trip planned for Fathers Day this year with nearly 20 of us going, and as sad as it is to have it cancelled, it’s not for no reason.
B B The context is human life. 1000s being infected and 100s dying every day, just in USA alone, including children now being affected by new symptoms. For me, it’s a risk not worth taking.
David the two Toy Story rides are very low capacity rides compared to Tron. Tron has a similar capacity to Incredicoaster where's the two Toy Story rides have a capacity similar to Emotional Whirlwind. That's why there's such a drastic difference in wait times.
Great report, Dave! Thanks so much! It's really fascinating. And just the thought of how much planning and strategizing has to go into each of the parks' reopening during this time! It's insane to think about! (I'm sure there'll be at least one 'class' about it in the next Disney College Program that's offered! lol) Incredible. Bravo, Shanghai!
Interesting to see the procedures in action. Disney is masterful at managing crowds and I could only imagine this being modestly easy to plan out and execute. Will that translate into a positive experience..... time will tell.
It probably would work in Florida. Like you said, a larger area. I don’t know how well it will work at Disneyland, as far as keeping people at the correct “social distance”. Then, you have the governor to deal with as to when he will allow it.
Ha! “no one is asking you or forced by you to go” can you imagine “YOURE GOING TO TO GO DISNEYLAND AND YOUR GOING TO LIKE IT!” I just thought that was funny. 😂
I thought they were opening at under the 24,000 and each week will increase allowed attendance by 5,000 per week. If I recall Disney indicated it would be significantly less than 24,000.
They announced that China government allowed 30% but that they would start at much lower on opening day and increase the amount of guest weekly by 5,000 until they reached the 30% and then hold at that until the government allowed to raise the amount of guests allowed. You are looking at about 10,000 guests for week one
Disney may have rules and regulations for our own safety But the downside is that people are too stubborn to listen they'll start using the excuse of well! I've been coming here for so many years you know how much money I spend in this park is that whole privilege that sucks I know I have dealt with people. Like that before
My guess is they could do a MaxPass for EVERYTHING, all the rides and all the shows, and even restaurants. I feel like now is the time to try to attempt something like this. It would definitely help with the "coaching" in addition to helping alleviate hot spots in the park. "you tell me where to stand, i'll do it". They have the experience with traffic control with Galaxy's Edge. They were trying to apply the FastPass Kiosk in Tomorrowland, a MaxPass for Everything could be a great solution IMO. AND it would be free :) hopefully.
When my family visited Hong Kong Disneyland back in 2015, Toy Story Land is one of the busiest areas of the park, so I would't be surprised if the one in Shanghai is also popular compared to others.
I like that there is plenty of space to walk and not being squished wall to wall people. And that it is possible to keep the social distancing. And to just be outside again all day is a wonderful thought. Thanks for sharing David.
MrProTechHD the cdc has been inflating the death numbers by 25%, the numbers go up because more people are being tested and how many of those who test positive are actually sick? The survival rate is around 99% UNLESS you’re over 65 AND have some preexisting health issue. Go if you’re healthy and stay home if you’re afraid.
How is there soaring set up I wonder. they maybe deep cleaning each one after the ride ends. If they have four that means only 2 can be active at a time if they only have 2 that leaves only 1 at a time. Soaring is more like a show than a ride in the sense you sit in a seat and watch the show just your seat moves so id imagine cleaning the whole room would be needed. Then take into account its most likely running at half capacity and it can really turn up wait times. Lol also am I going crazy or did I see 7 people in the toy story meet n greet.
You made it sound like you did not want to go back to the parks until things were back to normal, but in this video, you made it clear you were wanting to go even with these conditions in place, what changed your mind or did I completely miss understand you?
I would prefer being treated like a sentient adult rather than a three-year-old. But that’s me. Open Disneyland with a, say, fifty-percent capacity and let the adults be responsible for their actions and their children. Just like the days preceding the closing in mid-March. I was there the entire final week with my family - and thousands of others - and everyone was on their best behavior. And no issues.
Makes me happy to see! I don't live close to the parks and only get to go every couple years or so, but it's a little bit of hope seeing the parks come back to life! My family was at Disneyland the day they announced they were closing the parks, and we left to go home the day they were closing. Everything was so chaotic with trying to get home on the plane to news of schools closing all of a sudden and an impending lockdown as soon as our plane landed--it was an experience unlike any other that I have had at the parks, for sure! And I will never forget the date--Friday the 13th! I would love to go back after we have a vaccine!
And no one is making ANYONE go. My problem with this is my wife will be the one caring for those who DO go. Putting herself at risk. She is an RN. Keep the parks closed until it is safe to open them
Hi David. Correct me if I am wrong, but you said that it took six Disney cast members to keep the guest six feet away from the Disney characters. I count seven Disney cast members in the video or picture.

Signs of hope!
Signs of hope indeed! So happy that Shanghai Disneyland has reopened! 😃
I heard all guests are required to go to "it's a small world (when you're welded inside your apartment)" after attending Shanghai Diseaseland.
If you are spaced out it would take longer to get thru the que line so it might be only a 20 min wait on a normal day and now it’s a 40 min wait

Thanks for giving us a look at what they're doing. I can't wait for Disney ❤️
I love the looks of these cues.
Makes me think they are character cast who are out of costume, so it's the same number of employees, but just them in a different realm.
There were several people there in the crowds who werent wearing masks after getting through the main gates. Lot's who were following protocol but many who were cutting corners.
Capacity of Disneyland is, I think they said, 60,000...so, 25% of that is only 15,000 for DL and DCA’s capacity is 50,000, so that would be 12,500
From the park's opening celebration, it looked like there were more cast members and characters than there were visitors.
Seeing all of this gives me a lot of hope for the future. It will be really hard don’t get me wrong. But it shows that even in the dark times Disney will always be there to help us forget about our problems and let us experience just a little bit of magic.
Disney = Hope
In dreams
You will loose your heartache
spaceship earthlings so true
spaceship earthlings thank you
If you have a 40 minute wait.
Finally, they're reopening Diseaseland!
In two weeks, they will rename the park, "Shanghai Dismaland!"
The parks should reopen when it is safe to do so. If you have to wear masks, gloves, have your temperature checked etc it Is NOT safe to reopen.
@@hernandezfamily7744 agreed! I think it's opening too soon but that's me
I think Disney is handling the situation so awesomely, that I would have no worries going back to Disneyland!!
This not the disney I want to be in. We had a June 15th trip. We rescheduled for next June.
Personally, I would pay a premium to go with reduced crowds like this. Similar to ticketed events like Halloween or after dark events. It seems like they have it under control.
TY David! Simply TY.
think. here in the states. it might be a year till. disney open both. parks just. saying
I just know that when Disneyland opens and I'm able to snag a spot to go, I'll be crying from happiness from the first second
Can’t wait for Disneyland to reopen! Do you have any idea if all the rides will be operating when the park reopens, specifically Rise?
In Communist China, government socially welds YOU!
Great video! I don’t care about the restrictions or special precautions. As long as I’m in a Disney park, for me, it’s a good feeling.
Disneyland is not in LA County.
Ironically, I'd love to be able to visit any Disney park with such low crowds. However, given what's going on right now - I'll be the first one to welcome big crowds again. Keep the faith David!
I'm like you David, I just want to know when can I go to the parks!! The Disney withdrawal is getting to be to much! Great video!
7 cast members in that picture! But point well said. 1 cast member for every 3 watching lol
I stayed up the other night and watched some TH-camrs Livestream, it was in Chinese, but I still watched it! 😀👌
Christopher Ortez Those numbers are meaningless without any context around them
B B The context is human life.
Very interested on how our pass holders will fit in the 30%???
I think the shows like in front of the castle would be ticketed events now kind of like the boarding pass idea from galaxy edge
Interesting to see the procedures in action. Disney is masterful at managing crowds and I could only imagine this being modestly easy to plan out and execute. Will that translate into a positive experience..... time will tell.
Time will tell indeed. Hopefully, this will continue to go well and translate well to the U.S. Disney Parks. 😃
It will be positive.
I'm with David I just want to be in the park. So open the park and I will do what I need to for entering the park.
Yo its Haley I swear I saw this happen at DL once, between a Dad and his 2 kids. I was shocked.
Like that before
What will happen with character meet and greets at Disney parks
How Exciting!!!💖
So exciting !
I went to Disneyland plenty of times between December and March. I didn't get sick and I have diabetes
Great reporting-became a huge fan a few months back, talked to you in line at Smugglers run...
I’m so ready to try to go! I need it in my life 💔
Limited people and room to walk at Disneyland? Sign me up!
That is literally my dream lol
Looks like it worked pretty good! Thanks for the video!
Pirates goes quick tho, even in Shanghai!
I'll be happier when it's here 🙂
There were not 24k, there was "significantly less" than that and they will add 5k more each week.
I was up early watching whatever I could just to get a fix 👍🏼
You made it sound like you did not want to go back to the parks until things were back to normal, but in this video, you made it clear you were wanting to go even with these conditions in place, what changed your mind or did I completely miss understand you?
I’m gonna be there for Disneyland reopening with these safety measures cause I’ll still have the best time
So what does that mean if the Disneyland is doing good
very exciting, great opening ceremony show as well.
Wish they did have more pictures
I’m stoked. I don’t care what they say I have to do I’ll do it to go back to Disney ♥️♥️
David, honestly man.... does this look fun?
The line in the haunted mansion that we have room for one more takes on a new meaning in this era...
08:00 gave me chills
i cant wait
