Nicely done, Jon! That Grand L3940 is a fine machine! I enjoyed seeing that picture of your dad working on the road. FaceTime while tractoring! Now that’s the Bee’s knees! Thanks for sharing!
How's she goin'? Great job Jon. Nice to have a the big tractor for this job!!! Maintaining the road is a chore, but if you don't it will go away pretty quick!!! Take care!!
I’m sure one of your sponsors wouldn’t mind letting you try one out! It’s a win win for them. You use it and show people how well it works and how much time they could save. They could then post the videos or use them as advertising promotional videos.
If maintaining that swamp road is a regular task, a used/second hand box blade would be a good investment to have. You can't have all the cool toys just for your Bx23. ;-)
You're right, I need to purchase some additional implements for the 3940. Those will come eventually but for now I'll do with what I got. Keep on tractoring!
Just a caution. It's okay to tip your bucket all the way forward to back drag the little bit of soil you had. But watch doing that in an area where you risk hitting a rock, stmp, root, or something like that. The hydraulic cylinders are quit week went fully extended and you risk bending one if you hit something hard. I find back dragging with the buck in the level position actually works better anyway
I saw a pro doing this a couple years ago and it blew my mind as I was told to never do that. 2 years later I use the bucket in dump a few times a week to scrap grass up. I have a beefier tractor a Kubota TLB and never run it L, always M and my transmission sound tells me when there is too much pressure.
Thanks Chris! I'm sure glad I decided to hang onto it. It doesn't get used much now but in 5-10 years it'll come in handy if we get a piece of property closer to our house. Keep on tractoring!
Thanks Phil, all the 15 foot and shorter Norways you may have seen in this video came from Itasca Nursery not far from where the property is. My dad planted about a 1000 trees I would guess. We even handed out seedlings from there at his funeral. It's always fun moving dirt. Keep on tractoring!
Thanks Ken! I wish I would have filmed the process my dad had building that road. It was really something! I’ll explain it better in a future video. Keep on tractoring!
I’m sure you have mentioned this before but where is the land you are on? Hunting land? We have land South of McGregor that is similar. The dirt we are working with is almost identical. Lots of road work, but we lack a tractor that nice. Someday hopefully!
Just a few miles south of Grand Rapids and yes, it’s hunting land. It used to be my uncles land and part of his farm. My dad purchased it at my uncles auction on “accident” 20+ years ago. It’s great soil to work with. Super easy digging. You need a tractor. Keep on tractoring!
Jon my bush roads look like cattle paths compared to yours :) Oh man would I love to have that backhoe. I can only dream of the roads I'd have then . Cheers
The backhoe was great for digging the ditches and putting the mucky material smack dab in the middle of the road and then covering the muck with sand. It’s held up well enough. 👍 Keep on tractoring!
I might have to hang on to that brush hog for another season. It seems the video was quite popular and I might have a part 2 version eventually. Keep on tractoring!
Hey Jon, you did fine. That is a really nice tractor. I love the cab. BTW, I have a teaser video up on my channel of Bug Bud, the worlds largest tractor. I will have 2 longer videos of it coming in the next couple weeks ( switching internet carriers) Stop by and check out the trailer and let me know what you think. Thanks Jon.
I’m hoping you were able to get some fail mowing footage, also looking forward to the snowblower videos. I have to live my snow removal through you since winter seems to dry up in western Pa.
Of course I did! More than I actually got on video in fact. Probably 10 acres worth all together. That video should be coming out in a week or so. Keep on tractoring!
Does your FEL have a float function on it? I've used that on my BX23s to bucket to do what your doing, worked out really well. Just lift the arms up to slowly slip the material under the bucket.
Yes it does but being I was only spreading one bucket at a time the wheels were already somewhat level so setting the bucket in a fixed position seemed to work best. If you check out my cabin driveway video from last Fall you'll see I utilized the float function quite a bit on the BX23S. Keep on tractoring!
Love the video Jon .Keep on tractoring .
That’s a nice dirt work tractor! Not too big not too small!

Job well done Jon👍
Thanks Hank! I appreciate your comments!
Keep on tractoring!
Great road work Monsieur le Professeur and Daddy family work too 👍😉
Wasn’t that something, FaceTiming in a tractor out in the middle of nowhere. Fun times!
Keep on tractoring!
@@ritterjon Yes, it is amazing in deed. Cheers 😉👍

looks like a fun day on swamp road!
It's always a fun adventure out at Yukon acres! Hope all is well Dave.
Keep on tractoring!
Your dad did a nice job building that road. That is a tough area to get through for sure.
It was a crazy time consuming process he used but managed to get it done.
Keep on tractoring!
Thanks always. It looks like there is never enough time for brush hogging on the property. Take care
I sure wish we had some property closer to our house. I’d find a lot more tractor time to do all sort of stuff.
Keep on tractoring!
A land plane would work great for that application.
Yes it would! I wish I had one to test out!
Keep on tractoring!

Hey Jon It looks like you need a tooth bar for that tractor . I couldn't believe how much better I can dig with mine
You’re right!! I do need a toothbar! Trying to decide where to get one for that bucket. Glad you’re enjoying yours.
Keep on tractoring!

Jon - thanks for explaining the transmission options, neat to have all those options on a HST!
It’s actually more advanced than what I told in this video. I’ll have to do another video explaining it better sometime.
Keep on tractoring!
Great to see you on dads machine again Jon, fun!
Thanks Chris! I'm sure glad I decided to hang onto it. It doesn't get used much now but in 5-10 years it'll come in handy if we get a piece of property closer to our house.

looks like a great fix Jon. well done. Good tractor time, too. Have a great day!

Hi Peter, glad you enjoyed it. It’s always fun running the 3940! God bless.
Keep on tractoring!
Some good tractoring!
How does one do phys ed with technology? 🙃🙃🙃
We have to get creative, but it isn't very effective as you can imagine. I hope we can improve are effectiveness this year.
Keep on tractoring!
Swamp Road, Ritter Bit Edition. This is Exactly how it’s Done out in the Stix, Kubota Style. 😬👍
Thanks Ken! I wish I would have filmed the process my dad had building that road. It was really something! I’ll explain it better in a future video.

Looks great what year and how many hours on the L?
Is a 2013 I believe and it’s got 670 hours. My dad put on 650 of them so my experience isn’t that much yet.
Keep on tractoring!

So there is a reason to sell your rotary cutter and getting a box blade... or a land plane.
