This is a great stitch pattern. It looks like an easy one with very satisfyingly complex-looking results! I'm glad you speed through the wrong side rows. It would get very boring to have to watch the plain knitting and purling. I'm going to watch it a couple more times and make note of the pattern. Thank you!
Hi, I love your videos! Thank you so much for them :) I just wanted to mention also that in row 5, you say to E, P2, K1, K2tog, K1, and then P1 but by looking at your hands the P1 is actually supposed to be YO. That had me confused for a bit, so I just wanted to share in case anyone else was confused also.
thanks for your video. I just finished this pattern . And hi everyone , I just did row 5 : edge * p2, k1, k2tog, k1, yo, k2, p2, k2, yo, k1, sl1, k1, psso, k1, p2.
Thank you, Kerry Han, for picking up that error in row 5. I'm glad that I looked at the reviews to know that something was wrong, as I counted and recounted both my stitches and the pattern and came up with 20, but it wouldn't work out.
Ah ~ got caught on the p1 when it was actually a yo as listed below. Sorry to have posted before reading the older posts. ~~ This is a fantastic pattern even for a beginner like me. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work.
The s1, K1, psso is now done differently, and has almost the same effect, but is easier to read in written instructions. It's now done: ssk. You slip both stitches as if to knit, and then knit the two together, but with your RH needle inserted into the back of the stitch. It's a little harder to do, but easier to read, whereas the way she does it is harder to read, but easier to do. ;)
I think THIS IS RIGHT. The holes are symmetrical, and that means there would have to be another yo in that row. As it stands now with her verbal instructions, there is only one.
@57kjohn That is what my instructor called the way of "contenental knitting" I started out that way for some reason and when she had me switch to holding the yarn in my right hand I kept getting it too tight. My only suggestion would be practice practice practice
I think kerrryhan (below) is right: there's a p1 that should be a yo, which may explain your difficulty completely. That would mean the *p1* below should be a yo. The instructor did the right thing, but said the wrong thing. The "yo" makes the hole, and there are two holes in each design row, so there is a yo missing in her verbal directions. Row 5: Edge st, p2, K1, K2tog, K1, *p1*, K2, p2, K2, yo, K1, s1, K1, psso, K1, p2, edge
Thank you for pointing it out. I went back and I think she said p1 instead of the first YO (she did) in row 5, like so: Row 5: edge, p2, k1, k2tog, k1, YO, K2, p2, k2, YO, k1, s1k1psso, k1, p2, edge
When you pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch, it results in one remaining stitch. The number of stitches you start with, and the number you end with, will be the same - you lose and gain within the row to make them come out right. Here are the totals: Edge st (1), p2 (3), K1 (4), K2tog (5), K1 (6), P1 (7), K2 (9), P2 (11), K2 (13), yo, K1 (14), s1, K1, psso (16), K1 (17), p2 (19), edge (20)
PLEASE TRANSCRIBE the PATTERN! I went to the website, and there's just a video there. Your video is fabulous, but people wouldn't be complaining of it being fast if they could follow along with a written out pattern. Ex.: K2, p1, yo, s1, k1, psso, etc. They we can take it along with us as we knit your beautiful design!
I keep coming up with 21 st on Row 5 instead of 20? Can you help me figure out where I am adding an extra st on this row? This is how I am doing it and I've listened many times now and I cannot figure out why I need 21 in order to do the stitches I hear and see. The number in (x) is the stitches across as I figure it. Thanks for any help. :o) Row 5: ed1 (1), p2 (3), k1 (4), k2tog (6), k1(7), p1(8), k2(10), p2(12), k2(14), yo, k1(15), sl1, k1(16), po sl1 (17), k1 (18) p2(20), ed1 (21)
You should probably start with something simpler than this, if you're just starting out. After you get the hang of the basic stitches, this will be easy for you. (It seems very slow to me.)
i like your work but Im very new 4 this soo plzz plzz can you show us bit slowly so i can understand. A step at time if you are going fast can explain what have done. plzz i hope you understand.
eliZZZa13, thanks so much, but, doNOT go fast, please,You know that many people are note so capable to follow and like me, need your patience and knidness. Many thanks again. GOD Bless You.
i like your work but Im very new 4 this soo plzz plzz can you show us bit slowly so i can understand. A step at time if you are going fast can explain what have done. plzz i hope you understand. please show us from beginning so we can follow your step thank you
Here's what I get for Row 5, and it comes out to 20. The K2tog makes one, the psso makes one. You only slip one stitch. Row 5: Edge st, p2, K1, K2tog, K1, P1, K2, P2, K2, yo, K1, s1, K1, psso, K1, p2, edge st [s1, K1, psso] = 1 stitch
I start row 5 with 20 stitches, and once I get to after the psso, i find i only have three stitches left on my left needle, not enough to complete the row. What on earth am i doing wrong? I'm knitting as follows Edge st, p2, K1, K2tog, K1, P1, K2, P2, K2, yo, K1, s1, K1, psso and then i only have three stitches left! EEK!
Mine keeps not looking like this! on the side where I k2tog I get a hole, but on the other side where I s1k1psso I dont get a hole, so it looks like half a leaf on one side and just wibbly lines on the other ;3;
SORRY, this is the CORRECTION of my post (and my posts are showing in reverse order, later ones first, so please read accordingly) Edge st (1), p2 (3), K1 (4), K2tog (5), K1 (6), P1 (7), K2 (9), P2 (11), K2 (13), yo (14, K1 (15), s1, K1, psso (16), K1 (17), p2 (19), edge (20)

I am so sorry but row number 5 still does'nt work for me. I have 20 stitches after row 4 1 edge st----2 purl----1 k----2 stiches together ____So far I need 6 stiches. 1k-----1 purl----2 k-----2 purl---2 k_______________ all together 14 stiches. yarn over (no stiche needed) 1k-----slip one----1k____ all together 17 stiches 1 psso (no stich needed) ---1k---2 purl----edge stiche STILL ALL TOGETHET 21 STICHES. Can some one help me out here. I have only 20 stiches left from row 4

Do you have it written by any chance?

thats amazing I hope to one day knit like that
Very pretty stitch, I'm going to knit a scarf with this pattern. Do you have the knitted instructions?
you are a wonderful teacher Easy instructions /your videos have helped me thank you so much for making these and more videos " delo waleed"
@57kjohn That is what my instructor called the way of "contenental knitting" I started out that way for some reason and when she had me switch to holding the yarn in my right hand I kept getting it too tight. My only suggestion would be practice practice practice
I would love to learn how to hold the yarn as you do. I have tried wrapping yarn over my left hand fingers and always gets to tight. Any tricks?

Hi I was wondering if you do this with an even or odd number of stitches please, and how many stitches are in your sample in the video please?
I keep coming up with 21 st on Row 5 instead of 20? Can you help me figure out where I am adding an extra st on this row? See CORRECTION below
Mistake in row 5: when you show first "yarn over" the same time saying "purl one"..
I wish it was slowed down. Far too fast to follow as a beginner 😟
I think she forgot to mention the first YO in row 5 -- all the other rows start with "p2 K? K2tog K1 YO". I think she did it, but didn't say it.
Row 5: edge, p2, K1, K2tog, K1, YO, p1, K2, p2, K2, YO, K1, s1K1psso, k1, p2, edge
