Brilliant result after researching well first. Paul.

Very helpful and thanks a lot. I'll be doing my replacement seals after watching this.

Great video Chris, really good preparation and research before doing the job!! Well done!👍👍

Thanks Mike, I was quite shocked that the job went so smoothly and without any issues! I suspect the larger rear windows on the later cars might be a bit more of a handful.

Thanks Ben. I was a bit apprehensive about tackling this job but it seemed to work out well in the end!

Well done! That was really interesting to watch. You made a challenging job it look easy.

Thanks Monty. The power of video editing possibly made it look slightly easier than it was. 😄

Great Job - I had a he'll of a time doing the front split screen. Had to make turnbuckles to support the glass and while using a string to do the front seals
It's great when you do these things yourselves, then you learn and have a greater appreciation for how these cars were built.
I initially called a so called professional windscreen guy to install. He looked at me and after an hour or so he called his boss, both left baffled and finally gave up.
Reminds me of my battles with the front and rear windscreen

If you start putting the rope on one side and not the middle, run the rope around the screen until you get to the top of the screen opposite where you started loop the rope then finish running the rope around. Put the glass in place and start roping it in across the bottom and finish before the corner, now rope the top across and finish before the corner. now the screen is locked in and will not move across when you rope the corners and side, do the other side and it's now fitted. By just starting from one end and going around the screen will move when you come to the corners nearly every time. Doing it this way makes it so much easier with highly curved screens as they need to be locked in to stop movement.

I enjoyed that Chris, never had to do it yet but I have a poor rear screen seal on my Riley One Point Five so may be tempted yet. Well done.

Much appreciated, Rob. I'm not a natural in front of the camera but thought others might be inspired if they see a dunce like me being able to do it! I think the small size of my rear screen allowed me to do it without any help.

Good luck! It's not what you'd call a fun job but just take it slow and you'll be fine.

Chris.. the head light switch must be recent modification part. My '60 Morris had the pull switch for the head lights AND a little sliders switch under the Speedo mount to turn on the dash light.
Would you know where your switch part came from and how it was wired up ??
    Cheers
    Cam

Sorry Cam, I honestly couldn't say. I always assumed the headlight switch arrangement was original to the car. It's certainly shown that way in the Series 2 owner's handbook. I also have the little slide switch under the dashboard to switch off the panel lights.

Great job & I’ll be doing the same at some point! Can I ask where you got your radio from?

    • @Scuba72Chris
      @Scuba72Chris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks Lloyd. The radio was from Amazon, it has an FM tuner, bluetooth connectivity and an internal lithium battery which is kept charged through a USB socket on the back. Unfortunately it only has an internal antenna and the interference from the car's ignition renders FM unusable while driving so I stream radio stations from my phone via bluetooth which works a treat. The make and model is 'Greadio R919'.

Hello, quite by accident I came across your website dedicated to the renovation of Morris Minor 1954. I own the same 1954 model and I was born in the same year. I brought it from Sweden two years ago. I have already started the renovation and I am slowly moving forward. I have a left-hand drive version, an 803cc engine. Write your e-mail address and I will send you photos. I live in Poland in the city of Wroclaw. Regards Adam

Hi Adam, thanks for the comment. I am half Polish myself :) These are great cars to own and very easy to work on. There are still lots of jobs I want to do to mine but for now it is running reliably and I have quite a few events arranged this year including a week-long tour around Wales which I am really looking forward to! It would be good to see the photos of your car - castanley@gmail.com
