Today I have a guide on how to sneak effectively in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain!
I've tried to make this video as straightforward as I could, so that I can help out everyone from the very experienced Metal Gear fans to those who are new to the Franchise!

A better trick is to knock enemies out, move them into a secluded area where other enemies do not search, wake them up and point a weapon at them. Doing this will allow you to interrogate them and they will remain in a position where they lie on the ground face down and will not try to escape. The only time when they will is if you have been spotted by several other enemies and have alerted others of your presence.

+dion staples Two issues: 1. Ask where the others are first. That should be your first priority when attacking a base with more than a couple of soldiers. You won't get them to tell you where the other soldiers are AND other pieces of intel. It's more important that you know where everyone is than that you know where some minor metal is. 2. Don't Fulton them right away. If it's safe, pick them up and carry them to a spot where they won't be found. Kick them awake and point a gun at them. Either interrogate them or just leave them, but that apparently works a lot longer than knocking them out. You can Fulton them when you've taken care of everyone else in the base. That way, there's no risk of putting the guards on alert.
+CocoaNutCakery By the way, keep in mind that they won't stay like that if a combat alert is called. If you think that you're going to be discovered, it's a good idea to fulton extract them.

he moves too quickly when he sneaks behind hostiles they get alerted and he goes into reflex mode move slower to avoid detection and stay out of reflex mode for a bonus at the mission end
How do I move slower behind enemies, so they don't realize me and I don't go into reflex mode? I am playing on pc (mouse and keyboard), and movement with wasd-buttons is "too quick" for sneaking. Is there an "sneak extra slowly"-button? Like "shift" for running?
@@Eike2002 hold ctr to move slower or buy a sneaking suit so u cannot be heared even if you don't move slower.

Just turn off reflex mode and you can do the same thing without the penalty
I like going invisible and using the cyborg suit. Just run into enemies and aim at them when they hit the floor. In less than a minute you'll have a whole base surrendering. XD
Tip: Rapidly pressing the choke button will make you choke the enemy faster. same goes to other actions except fulton-ing

@@FattySpiffo Yeah but my point is that i think it will make a noise same when choking some soldiers rapidly when soldiers are either near 10 meters.
I actually found that out on my own just by thinking the animation playing over and over looked funny

Aware that this is a really old comment, but pretty sure spamming the choke will knock them out for less time
I know you said take it slow but if you take it slow it effects your S Rank which I think is stupid

though it is more effective to be quick, than totally stealthy to get the s rank
Perfect Stealth, No Kills gives you a ton of bonus (not as much as No Trace but still a lot)
Mingmoney I didn't even get caught and It took me 30 minutes to do the mission and I still got an S rank
S rank is S rank for a reason. It's supposed to be hard to get. Also, with stuff like CAS runs performed by Pequot you can still get an A rank easily.

You should put the enemies in a car (3 enemies) or a truck (1 enemie) and fulton the vehicle. It's good to save some fulton devices:)
PlayMusic! Late, but it costs 5 or 10 thousand GMP to Fulton a vehicle. It takes 1200 to Fulton 4 soldiers. You are right on the value though, as you also get the vehicle.
Best way to take out multiple targets, which stand Close to each other is just CQC them both. If you CQC the first one, you get a quick time vent, where you can CQC the other one. Each more CQC stun lasts longer. You can do it even with 10+ Soldiers at one spot, and you will not be spotted.
Epicheld You can also grab an enemy and pull out your pistol and take the enemy hostage. I did it at the supply post in the big compound, grabbed an enemy, pulled out the back, interrogated him, proceeded to snipe everyone in the base.

I'm convinced this is a cover-based shooter, not a stealth game. Look, maybe even though I've been playing action stealth games since the original Thief, I'm a total noob at this and just don't get how this game is supposed to work. I'm pretty sure that's the case. But assuming it is, the fact that, as a noob, it's much much easier to just Rambo my way through it like I'm playing Uncharted or something than to bother with stealth is in itself pretty damning evidence that it's not a very good stealth game.
It's not just you. I've played several Splinter Cells, the entire Thief series, all the Dishonored games, etc., so I know I don't suck at stealth games, but this game has me totally baffled. No matter what I do I always end up getting spotted and getting into a firefight, so I decided at about mission 11 to just say screw it and play it as a shooter. I get crappy scores on the missions, since I'm not doing them the way the designers intended, and I'm quickly approaching demon status, but meh...way more fun this way.
You say the Riot SMG is better, but when I unlocked it I noticed that people have a bad habit of waking up way too quickly compared to when you use sleep weapons or even the Stun UN ARC. How do you deal with that?
That's a very interesting point mate!
The riot smg has quite a decent range on it, this is when I was playing MGS, I would try to keep a little bit of distance between you and your enemy, less chance of them detecting the sound of your SMG
My other tactic would be to find a good hiding spot, drop a guy and then drop his comrades as they come in to see what's going on

I gave it another chance and did some experimenting and yeah, Riot SMG definitely has a lot of advantages as long as you keep in mind that the stun doesn't last nearly as long as a sleep dart. All about working with the tools strengths and keeping the weaknesses in mind! Thanks for the good advice and video :D
I use the riot smg almost exclusively.
if you can get up to stunned enemy and use the cqc button to wake them up...
when they start waking hold them up...
unless you trigger an alarm they'll lie there the entire mission.
or fulton them ASAP remove them completely!
Just Fulton then or use Fulton dog because that’s free or you can hold the. Up on the ground

Gotta admit that MGSV is the easiest MGS game if you want to play stealthy.
Not only because of the reflec mode, but also...
you can have D-Dog creating distractions
you can hide on the side of D-horse (hence the 4 min or less Phantom Limb speed runners)

In certain missions, you can go guns blazing and still survive.
Prosthetic Arm functions(stun arm and radar detection)
Bonus: the ultimate solo infiltration combo
(No buddies)
1. Equip lvl 4 stun arm
2. Hide somewhere
3. Use radar and check all the detected objects enarby, make sure to have as many of them are within 45 meters as possible
4. Charge stun arm for full 12 seconds.
5. Congrats, you've knocked out everybody within 45meters (if you have a prisoner near you, it is impossible for anyone to raise attention to the extraction now because the detection radius of fulton extraction is around 30 meters)

i came for tips on sneaking but all i see is exactly how i played the game. taking people out and always eventually getting spotted. is that just how the game intends it to be? can you actually be undetectable through skill and planing, or are enemy routes in all the bases just set up to be so you have to deal with being spotted so everything becomes headshot simulator?
Just watch gameplay of somebody who is good, try to not KO every problem but actually sneak around the enemy
No. wtf. Easily done not spotted. You have silenced tranquillizing rounds. You have choking out. Stunning. Noise making. Thrownmagazine. Use ur bio arm. Sonic bio signs also makes noise. Or the pill support item. d dog can make noise and stun. Or keep occupied by grabbing on. Sleeping gas mines. And then the game adapts to your play style. So you end up having to change it up. For example they’ll start wearing full full face helms if you always go for headshots and stronger body armor if you kill often. Night vision if you use the night often. Etc etc etc
@@Puppy_Puppington yes i had been playing through this game for the second time three years ago, i know all that in theory. in practical terms, item management and attempting to set up traps was always way too cumbersome and no matter how or where i lured enemies, ai always had a habit of meandering towards where i was just trying to knock out someone or where a mine had just done anything. and whenever it worked out ok otherwise, there'd suddenly be a guard shift riding up or nearly teleporting in to surprise me anyways. so its always just easier to headshot everyone and use quiet support.
i dont know man. sneaking is too exhausting in this game due to the horrible caution alarm evasion system this game has.
for example every noise is an intruder which i find really gamebreaking (footsteps, opening doors, hitting things on the ground) as if there are not other soldiers who could make that noise.
their line of sight is bad too: they see you in sandstorms i mean come on man.
crawling is terrible: snake cant crawl over a little bump? legendary soldier!

Suprised this guy doesn't explain how to take a piss. I mean seriously. "A tranqulizer gun is used to tranqulize". Thank you video game master. Lol
with cqc u can take out the group of two without any strugle... even if they see you just spam click it and u will take them both out before anything goes wrong. Results may wary.
when there is a enemy group of two give the one who is walking behind only a bodyshot with the tranquilizer gun NOT a headshot. this will slow him down first and when he falls asleep when the sedative takes effect the second soldier is allready far enough ahead so he doesn't hear it and doesn't turn around. Or cqc the first enemy the second in front doesn't hear it. The second option maybe only works with the sneaking suit I'm not sure.
OR you could just run up and use CQC on them.
Carlo V. yeah I said that but Ithink you need to have the sneaking suit for that otherwise the second soldiers hears you and starts shooting.

Well done. I had all your moves down, pretty much attempting your methods, just not as fluid. My big mistake was, like you said, interrogation in a heavily occupied area. Also i didn't realize the lure worked that well, realize now that's a must. Thanks for video.

Is there any limit to how many soldiers you can Fulton extract? Like do I have to be conservative or can I extract the entire base without worrying about capacity at mother base?
david johnson your base will become full, to avoid that you can dismiss some of the baddest soldiers you got and replace them with better you found in the field. You can also upgrade your base facilities to hire even more people
david johnson at the beginning extract everyone but later on you should be selective and only bring strong soldiers

i tough metal gear solid was a normal game with stealth, but now i see ghosts, robotic hands, a box, and a fire boi? ITS EVEN BETTER

The enemies are pretty dumb coz you're playin in normal mode. I play on hard or harder modes since it feels even more realistic and immersive. Careful planning and approach is very important. I also don't use reflex mode as it decreases your stats and gains at the end of the mission.
How do you enter hard difficulty modes?

I used that tactic a lot in my first playthorough. Now I like the tactic of taking them out, waking them up in a place where no one sees them, point a gun at them whilst they're lying down and get some intel out of it. That way, they'll stay down until enemies alert you, which rarely happens when you're good at stealth

Ya know, one would've learned these techniques through normal gameplay, but having you synthesize the information and demonstrate the various stealth applications is immensely helpful. I feel more confident just having watched you do it, man.

for 7:31 couldn't you have just fallen on them and STN both of them without triggering the Reflex? Or at the very least hold them up while they're on the floor still, good guide regardless
He could have used Consecutive CQC but alot of people forget thats a thing so
anorher thing i found out uf you have a tank you can easily drive trough the outposts and in to bases the enemys will NOT attack because they only see the tank not you but be careful if a truck comes in your driveway dont touch him or the enemy will be alerted and spot you

The easyest way to capture a guard post is:take the bandaniti with you. Then you have unlimited ammo and unlimited supressor. Then just take a random mashine gun (with spressor and it need to be tranqualier) then you just take down all of them with rapid. If you miss you have unlimited supressor so just shoooooot. I fulton enemies only with S rank minimum becuase my base an FOB is full)))

If you are Fultoning an NPC I believe their scream will alert. If they are close enough. Not 100% though only been playing this for a week so far.
The screams actually won't alert guards at all. They only react if they see it. Keep in mind that they can sometimes see the balloon over roofs

Great aiming skills with the pistol mate... takes me about 2 tries to get a headshot.
