    Thank You!! I have made many cornices over the years but never felt they look professional and I didn't know why. Well, the devil is in the details. Your video was specific and showed every step. I played your videos while I made my latest cornice and the results are phenomenal. The new cornices look like I paid a fortune to have a professional make them. You are an amazing teacher.

    Dear Scott: This is by far the best, most professional explanation of how to upholster a cornice!! I applaud your attention to detail: every single unfinished edge, every cut. A pleasure to watch--like a meditation. I'm ready to start!

    Scott, you are a great teacher. My husband was an upholsterer and you did it exactly as he did ours. It was wonderful watching the process again.

    This is by far the best video on how to make a professional looking cornice board! My husband and I just finished making two small cornices for our dining room windows and they turned out very nice considering we are complete novices! You gave us the confidence to tackle this project. Thanks for the step by step instructions Scott!

    This is one of the best videos on making a cornice I have seen. I love how you take it step by step and do not cut corners. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Thank you Scott for going into the details and showing us how to do this professionally. Would you have any other suggestions for using upholstery leather? I do have skiving machine and a leather sewing machine. Would love to see an upholstery video using genuine leather. You are a very good teacher.

    This was a great help to me. The detail is much appreciated. Any suggestions on how deep the returns and dust shelf need to be for grommet top curtains to go up inside of the cornice ? We are doing a home theater and using velvet curtains, purchased extra panels for the cornice. Thank you very much for your time.

      Hi! This is going to depend greatly on the type of rod you are using however normally 6" dust cover/returns work. Good Luck!

    I love watching these videos- you do a great job- I would like to see a cornice with scalloped edges and how you handle the finish on the bottom of the scallop

    Hi Scott,
    Your videos are top notch! Thankyou so much for sharing. I would like to use a contrasting welt and therefore the extra fabric that wraps around the bottom of the cornice will be contrasting, as well. I don't think that will look good!? Do you have any expert advice? Designer Desiree.

    Hi Scott. Love your videos. Please show us how to make a London shade with contrast inserts . Every time I ask for directions for a London shade I get Roman shade. LONDON SHADE PLEASE.

    Hi Scott, What size welting cord is that and how big are the strips you are using to make it? I'm making a cornice box for the drapes I just put together and will have just a bit of fabric left over after that's done, so that's the determination on whether I will make piping or not :-)

    • @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom
      @Factorydirectdesignersworkroom  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use 12/32 Welting ( 3/8") strips are cut 4-1/2" wide.

      +Scott Weaver thanks for getting back to me. I ended up doing 1/4 inch with 4 inch strips. Made it last night actually but haven't attached it yet. It was close to yours but in retrospect I think I should have done that extra half inch as well. It's probably going to be a bit tight.

    The returns should be cut in when applying the piping!

    So great! Very inspiring, but fyi when you're talking to me I need to hear folding fabric, not bending fabric. Picky I know, but otherwise it's perfect!
