Well Betty progresses and moves with the time and adjusts and that's why she's still current. She's not still doing the same thing she did 60 years ago nor is she angry about changes, it's all in her admirable character and attitude really, it's a big part of it.
"Mmm! Your muffin just squirted in my mouth!" "It happens!" Even though it's a late-night show, I'm still amazed they allowed that line through. One of the funniest things SNL ever did. God bless Betty for being so funny in this.
Betty delivered her lines with such a straight face. A true professional. I'd have been crying. There's no way I could've made it through without breaking character.
When they heard Betty was going to host the show, Ana, Molly, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Amy Poheler, and Rachel Dratch all asked if they could return to be on the show with Betty. They all wanted the chance to work with the legend.
If I remember right this was the Mother's Day show and they usually bring back a few former (female) cast members each year for that show. When it was learned that Betty White was the guest that year - allegedly, nearly every single one of the current living cast members asked to be included. And I believe most of them ended up being part of the show somehow that night.
Betty White, the actor whose charm and deadpan comedic delivery earned her an eight-decade career and the title of America’s most trusted celebrity, died on Friday December 31, 2021. She was 99 and was set to turn 100 on Jan. 17. (Betty White (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021)
Watching this now makes me even sadder😭😭😭 Betty White was not only an entertainer, but a humanitarian, animal lover and advocate.... And most of all just a wonderful human being🥺 We should all strive to be just 1% of what Betty White brought to the world and it may just make things a little better. Rest in Peace my lovely🙏🏼😭😭😭
God, Betty White becoming popular again was such a fun era of the internet. People finally learned that she was always good at delivering super dirty jokes without breaking character, and it got her a guest spot on the second season of Community.
Rip Betty. This is one of the best SNL skits. (I also luv Schwetty balls). You gave us a lifetime of humour and fun. Rest now knowing you are loved and will be horribly missed.
When these two originally started this sketch, I was working at the local public radio station based at my college. Their boring caricature is almost 100% spot on. I had to sit through HOURS of like folk music, dry monotone radio voices, and smarmy, smug public radio talent while operating the board. I was like 20-21 years old, and this was my work study/internship. My real job was down at the local TV station as a studio tech running cameras, boards. Loved Friday night football in the fall getting out to the local high schools and getting footage. Fun times, but it all had to end when I found a real job, with real pay, and real benefits, lol.
Betty was a consummate professional. She was in her late 80's when she did this. And she held it together during this sketch. Everyone that wants to get into Hollywood needs to take cues from her. She is a Hollywood legend and it's so great to see so many people showing her some love. She definitely deserves it and she KNEW how much everyone loves her even before she passed. There will never be another Betty. We love you with all of our hearts and we're so glad you are with Allen again ❤️❤️❤️
She was such a jewel! She always had - especially in her later years - a self awareness that she could utilize for great comic impact in a truly professional manner. Eat your heart out, Bill Shatner!
Betty White's ability to utter a dirty line with a straight face and that innocent wide-eyed look is unmatched.
Thats why she could get away with being just totally savage because no one took it as mean 😂
