- A New England legend, drummer Alan Dawson left a legacy of incredible music, playing with the likes of Sabby Lewis, the Dave Brubeck Quartet, Dexter Gordon and many more jazz greats. He was house drummer at Wally’s Cafe and at Lennie’s on the Turnpike, two iconic Boston area jazz clubs. But, when you mention Alan Dawson’s name he is better remembered as influencing generations of jazz dummers while teaching at the Berklee College of Music.
