  • Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield gave us Falinks, an incredible Pokemon from the Galar region. But also in the Galar region is Snorunt, a little yokai Pokemon. What is such a Japanese Pokemon doing in the Galar region? Which is based on the United Kingdom, especially England? Well! There may be a lot more to it than you think! Enough for a mini game theory anyway!

One of the best explanations you've made was addressing the question as to why there are more Snorunts than there are Falinks, it's because they usually walk in a pack together and the ones that get left behind are just there, forced to evolve and adapt to its environment.

    There are so many pokemons that look like evolutions (in the real meaning of the word) of other pokemon according to the environment.
    Jynx and Froslass both evolve from little blonde creatures both look feminine and both have a red piece of cloth or a pink piece of cloth in their shiny form, and this is the best example.
    I wouldn't be surprised if pokemon like Feebas-Milotic and Magikarp-Gyarados or Croagunk-Toxicroak and Toxel-Toxtricity were related.
    By the way, I think that it's more probable that Snorut's became Falinks's, not the other way round.
    That would also explain the change of type from ice to fighting.
    Ice is weak to rock and steel, so you have to evolve in a fighting (or ground) type to fight them.
    Also, Snoruts are weak alone so some of them probably had to form groups to survive.

    • @elyseenger2646
      @elyseenger2646 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And my theory is that that the Snorunt were the descendants of failed brass trainees. They washed out of the harsh training required to become one, thus adapting to the icy environment in disgrace. This populace slowly drifted away from the Falinks line, thus creating a evolutionary line as they reproduced in the new environment they found themselves in.

    Cool theory! Very interesting.
    IMO Snorunt looks more like a tiny thatched house with a face. Would've been cool to connect Snorunt's look with the thatched roofs of the old houses around the UK. The UK also has folklore including household spirits like Brownies or Hobs, so Snorunt could still fit in with the region. Just a slight design alteration - so a Galarian Snorunt - and maybe a type change (Ice/Fairy?) would be necessary.

    Another possibility to add onto this: female Snorunt specifically evolve into Frosslass in Galar not to drag just any manly thing to its death but the machismo Falinks that caused it to die. Searching for them on the mountain they had been abandoned. Also Mega Glalie's entry states it's in constant pain from mega evolving. Pain it was already experiencing as a Snorunt from abandonment, and having to grow large teeth quickly subdue enemies with bites and crunches. Froslass looses these teeth and thus the pain, well all of that from dying.

      Well on the 2nd point, Spartans were known to abandon babies they saw as weak in the mountains and other harsh areas. Perhaps it's less that the runt "couldn't keep up", and more that the runt "wasn't strong enough to train" and was therefore abandoned

    Since Snorunt are found everywhere rather than being failed Falinks, it might be more likely the other way around. That Falinks are Snorunt who have banded together, adopting an alternative communal life style to better survive some environmental factor unique to Galar.

    during part of spartan training they had to survive in the wild with their only worldly possession being a red cloak... and in turn a lot of them probably die of hypothermia as they have no shelter from the elements. Also in a true phalanx formation you would put the best warrior on the rightmost end of the formation as each hoplite shield covered half of you and half of the guy to your left so the right most spot was where the formation was most vulnerable, hence the best soldier aka the big one at the end.

    Theory: As all of the Falinks Marched through other regions, some of them got left behind in other regions. The runt thought its armor would keep it warm, but it didn’t. They found the remains of a dead animal, took some of its fur, and with a bit of dye made it their clothing.
    Those which did not survive however, (the females) right as they were about to evolve they died, turning them half ghosts. The ones who did survive, (the males) had adapted to the cold environment, along with the ice type. It roamed the land searching for other falinks that may have been left behind, to rescue them. It may look scary, but it’s got a really warm heart. Froslass on the other hand, searches for groups of Falinks to curse, in anger of the ones that left it behind. Gallaie soon found itself with some trainers to spend its time with, and got the bond between it and its trainer gave it a mega evolution (hence my theory of why it looks intimidating but it’s actually really friendly). Frosslass though, is to angry on getting revenge on the Falinks, and has not formed a large bond with its trainer if it has one.
    Tell me if there’s anything that I may have gotten wrong

    I thought of a fan-made evolution to falinks involving snowrunt thanks to this theory. here is the story.
    long ago after the odessy, the leader notices the runt of the litter had vanished, the entire group goes back and look for the lost falink, to no avail, week past then months, they leave the to head home heartbroken and devastated that they lost one of their own. they mourn for the lost one, until years later, during a trip with a trainer the falink notice a snowrunt in their party, and one of the falinks seemed to be familiar with said snowrunt and vice versa,
    after the entire adventure the snowrunt never evolved and soon the falinks and the snowrunt realized that the falinks were its family that left it long ago, it was still angry until one of the other links explain how long it looked for the snowrunt. and after reconciling both pokemon embrace with each other and soon begin to emerge and evolve into the new pokemon Tetsudo, and depending on the gender of the snowrunt Tetsudo gainss aitgher a defence boost ( for glailie) and a speed boost ( for froslass)

    It could be that both Falinks and Snorunt are evolved from a common baby pokemon that is round, and in galar some of them band together and evolve into Falinks surviving together while these that keep surviving alone tend fare worse, and later die to evolve to Froslass and Glalie where they do embrace the cold.

    So... Falinks can march underwater to go from region to region since Galar is an island (They how aren't they part Water type, since nothing mentions they do live underwater, unlike with Grapploct).
    The reason why Snorunt line is in so many regions, is that its actually one of Gamefreaks favorite lines (They prefer them over any other Ice type line at least by the looks of it)

  • @asnailitsapple6460
    @asnailitsapple6460 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Or, the Snorunts from other regions were left there when Falinks migrated across regions in ancient times. Then something like continental drift occurred that separated the Snorunts of those areas from the constantly moving Falinks. That way only Snorunts would be able to reproduce on those continents while Falinks would reproduce on Galar and the rings of the Falinks would still produce Snorunts in Galar.

    It could also be that they followed humans on their journeys to explore new lands, like it happened to the Zigzagoon line. It's born into Galar but then in Hoenn changed nature and appearance. I don't remember now if there's a cold/icy area in Hoenn but it could be related to that as well? During travels a Falink lost its platoon and was left behind, turning into Snorunt?

    You should have a taxonomy episode. It would make a great episode. Like which egg groups came first and how they interacted. Dragon and Monster egg groups would have been among the first after the fish and insect egg groups, kind of like how you mentioned in the dragon types explained video, with dragons having primordial power. Fairy’s would evolve to counter them, and steel types would be the last to develop since they have a close connection to humanity. You could suggest how charizard dropped the dragon types to ward off fairies.

  • @Visualeaf
    @Visualeaf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't know this theory was out there already but I was thinking about this the other day. Only the idea occurred to me backwards: maybe a Falinks is a grouping of Snorunt that have organized. Though this way makes more sense.
    I've also ALWAYS thought Snorunt was odd. Adorable, but odd. It does not like to be cold. It looks to be struggling with being cold constantly. Yet it's ice type? And grows into two things that ARE icy? So this theory explains that well.
    It's also worth noting that Glalie is a rock, the Pokedex states. However none of that line are rock type, which indicates they aren't characterized by it. Possibly it is a very soft rock. Snorunt and Glalie use the little clothes and ice respectively to protect its very vulnerable body from attacks. Falinks can be looked at in the same way. The Falinks' wear armor and shields to guard their soft body. Snorunt lost its armor or perhaps never got it, so it made do with what it could.
