I'm so happy this is over a million views. It's been on my favorites list for almost a decade. The voice-over on this is the most mesmerizing thing ever.
This is one of the best pieces of advertising i have ever seen-- Hitchock-esque. I wasn't even paying attention to the audio, and I still want to read the book! THAT is good advertising!!!

After writing a couple of times to the NZ Book Council, my co-author, Fernanda Rigoni, finally obtained the correct transcript of the video. Thank you unlooney for the effort. Here it is: "By train, from Loomis Station, the track ran straight for several miles, with straggly town on one side. Ah Lap's grocery where you could by Chinese ginger in jars; the Scout Hall, the Anglican Church, the jam factory - and vineyards and farms on the other. The line began to curve...
Visually outstanding, and incredibly amazing! The audio isn't too clear at times, but the stunning beauty of the pictures really makes up for that. Overall, very impressive work!
The text is Maurice Gee reading from the book Going west - the images illustrate the book (at least, I'm pretty sure it's him reading his own work). Great trailer.
[Pt 3:] Then the line began to curve and the impression one had was of worming into Auckland. It went up hill vines and through cuttings, and through a brave fringe of cemetary, overlapping the hill and the lumpy ranges of the side. Once across the spindly bridge there was no cleaving - stab like a knife.
Thank you, there's still genius somewhere out there.

Transcript 2 and the impression one had was of worming into Auckland. Once across the spindly bridge there was no creeping, you stabbed like a knife. Avondale, Mt. Albert, houses tumbling one against the other, iron roofs in a frayed quilt of reds and greens; and Morningside, Kingsland, with Eden Park mown like a lawn...
