In the pre-credits they named it as an inspirational source. Also one of the main characters of Spies in Disguise is called Walter Beckett like this secret agent.
Yeah, it is kinda weird that this simple idea turned into a huge thing. But everyone know that without James Bond series we will not have any of these spy fictions.
It’s weird watching this for the first time in years because I literally didn’t learn that spies in disguise was based off of this until a few days ago. It’s even crazier because I actually had the chance to interview Lucas for a film project I had back in seventh grade, so it feels oddly cool. It’s like “Wow! It really is a small world!”
As a software engineer... My thoughts are that having the buttons active when the briefcase is closed is an awful idea. This is definitely a design problem, and not the fault of the rookie secret agent in the slightest. When you have a briefcase with the "BRB", you take every single last precaution against any "accidents".
nuclear warheads need to go through a specific arming process as they are on their way too the target to blow up. If they don't have time to arm properly they don't explode. That's why there have been numerous cases of planes with nukes crashing and not detonating their warheads.
This was a heart wrenching story causing me much Greif and sorrow the way the pigeon tried and didn’t give up when all seemed lost and the way he brought awareness to nuclear war in russia
Did'nt expect to see something so impressive as this. And it's all done with great charactor expressions so great that they dont even need vocals. I completely enjoyed this video and felt like a little kid watching it, I was so into it and could not wait to see what was going to happen next. Very inspirational work.
When I first saw the trailer and read the synopsis for "Spies in Disguise", I immediately thought of this. Then I did some research and found that THIS was the source material. Congrats on having your wonderful short being expanded into a feature film! How much involvement have you had with the feature?
we watched this at school in 4th grade, we were learning about making inferences or predictions or something like that, the teacher kept pausing a lot. I was terrible at that inferencing and predictions. Also was it a donut or a bagel? One kid in our class thought it was a donut but the teacher said it was a burnt bagel. We watched it once at the beginning of the school year and once at the end of the school year. At the end of the school year another teacher showed it to us, she did not know that all of us already watched it at the beginning of the school year. We were all like "WE ALREADY WATCHED THIS SO WE KNOW EVERYTHING!"
Good catch. The idea behind the short was that Walter was actually fixing the briefcase for the other agent. An earlier draft showed that idea, but it was cut because it made things too long and wasn't that interesting.
@@willpow05 Hey, there's not exactly a canon between the short and the feature, I pitched it with some loose ideas from the short, but a totally new story.
Cool! I watched this years ago and I just got the news that this will be on Hollywood, will be called: Spies in Disguise (will be based on) voiced by: Will Smith and Tom Holland Congrats!
LOVE this. I laughed out loud when the pigeon was playing with the buttons. The escalation and level of insanity kept me laughing until the end. Way to go. Good luck with Cloud Catchers. Hello from one Austinite to another. You're inspiring me to get animating!
Why does the laptop the capability to jump and why does it have a joystick to move the laptop? And why does it have a red button? And for god sake why did the pigeon have to die! Poor little thing.
+Marck Juarez it's a multi-million dollar, government-issued nuclear briefcase, the red button launches the Washington Rocket, and the pigeon was evil - it had to die (no animals were harmed in the making of this film)
But it wasn't even the pigeon's case? That case belonged to the agent, no? What was he gonna do with that case? The pigeon was just being a pigeon. Im all honesty i like the animation but only because i love how they animated the pigeon. Why couldn't the missle land on the agent since it was technically his fault for not taking better care of that dangerous suitcase. Or maybe even the CIA should be blamed for handing such a large responsibility to a rook.
Virginia Millan idk why but it made me feel they took a big risk killing it, so in my opinion he deserves it for nearly killing countless lives for a bagel
@NOAH MESHIRER , the pigeon totally didn’t deserved it. The pigeon might have been the good guy, trying to stop Walter and Walter might have tried to stole the bag so he can get it to the bad guys
To see that this inspired an actual movie with will smith and Tom Holland is mind-blowing
Luke Noh most likely

Didn’t they make this into a full blown movie
And the nuclear fallout slowly kills everyone... The end!
nevermind i just saw the entire video still if it was real life the nuke would have blown up
+Sackbot 2011 It depends on the warhead, so no, it probably wouldn't blow up. Warheads need to be detonated very specifically, not just blown up.

He blown the rocket vehicle. We can see the warhead still intact which killed the bird.
